Perfect location, lovely place. Luang Prabang itself is a nice town, with a good atmosphere.

Overbooked hotel... rude”
Checked in and 2 hours later I am asked to leave as I... GET THIS.... "hadn't paid enough to stay at this hotel".... I did because I booked this room and confirmed on Agoda fully pre-paid. Put in AWFUL sister hotel and offered no compensation. Never stay here there's plenty other brilliant places... very rude and poor staff.

Do NOT stay here!!”
The worst experience I ever had in my life. Guesthouse owner shouted at me and not let me check in for no reason at all. He kept asking me why did I choose his guesthouse instead of others in town and ask me to go back to my own country because he doesn't know me. I had to look for another guesthouse at 11pm on the street because this crazy owner. If you don't want to end up like me, don't stay in this place.

Worst hotel in my life”
Only location
First, on arrival, there was no one to greet us. We waited 1/2 hour before any staff showed up. No one spoke English . We were showed our room which was dirty. The bathroom had mold and smelled of feces. There was one window which was blocked entirely by the next door roof. Several light bulbs did not work.We felt like we were in a prison. The wifi did not work out entire two day stay. The only reason we stayed two days is that all the decent hotels were booked.

Old World Charm without the high price tag”
Old Charm, Cleanliness, quietness
The Thida Guesthouse is a very traditional Luang Prabang styled house, with heaps of ornate wood, very spacious rooms, very clean and in a quiet location, all this without a high price tag. A little far from the town center (a 10 minute walk from the night markets), but less than a minute to the banks of the Mekong. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included. Spacious corridors with a variety of locally made wooden chairs in which to relax in and talk about the days events, or those that will eventuate. The owner, speaks good, but broken English.

location is good, nice solid wood floors
This guesthouse was way over priced for what you get. The rooms are stuffy and dark.

Stay away, better places to stay in Luang Prabang”
Close to main area of town
The Guest House is not far from the main area of Luang Prabang – this was its best feature. The room was basic. There were a few hooks for clothes, no drawers to unpack the luggage. There was a TV with a few channels but no remote and it was placed in a steel cage on the wrong wall for ease of viewing – facing the side of the bed. The buttons on the TV didn’t work correctly – at one point I used the same button to change the volume and the channel. The mosquito netting was not centered above the bed so we were unable to cover both sides of the bed with it. The bathroom was far worse than the room. No shower curtain – though there was a curtain bar – so water went everywhere. The sink had no place to put toiletries and no shelf for toiletries. The faucet was small and too close to the back of the sink to be useful. There was no hot water in the sink. The toilet was unable to handle toilet paper and the toilet paper was gray and hard. Silvers of soap were provided for the “convenience” of the guests. If you have traveled in Asia you know that bottled water is included with the room as the water from the sink is not potable. We had to ask for the water at Thida more than once.

Average guesthouse”
Location near Mekong River, not far from town
This was my second stay and probably my last. The first time I stayed there I had a large room in the newer building- this time we were given small rooms in the old building with no real outside windows. There are no dressers to store clothes. Bed was comfortable...shower was ok. Breakfast was included but a hard roll and bottle of water was not much. They offered an egg too but we did not eat eggs. Water was not placed in our room until the day we left...but we could get some at the front desk. The internet had to be rebooted often. We left a day early even though room was prepaid because my friends did not like staying there...

loved it”
Wooden interiors, large rooms, quiet location
For the money, this was the best of the three accommodation experiences we had in Luang Prabang. Unlike most of the other hotels/g'houses Thida does not try too hard. There is no overkill just a relaxed, exotic ambience. Exactly what we wanted.

Unpretentious value”
Integrity, tranquility and value
Luang Prabang is full of hotels claiming to be "boutique", whatever this means, with associated high tariffs. Thida Guesthouse is a welcome breath of fresh air. Indeed it has no airs and graces but has comfort, character and charm. It is so close to the river that you can hear the lapping of the water. The location is delightfully serene and the wooden structure has an old world ambience. Our room was huge with large louvred windows. The bed too was huge and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a fabulous bathtub. Charming hosts with integrity do their utmost to ensure your comfort. On top of all these pluses is the very alluring tariff. If you are looking for pretense and useless frills this is not the place for you. If you are seeking old fashioned integrity, rare in Luang Prabang, and value for money give Thida a go.

Great staff & Comfortable room, ”
Staff, Room, Staff!
Our room was very comfortable and cozy. It felt more like a bedroom than a hotel room. The Owner and his son (?) were very kind and helpful . We also had our laundry washed the day we arrived and it was returned clean and folded the following afternoon. They are also located right next to the Mekong and a 3 minute walk to the night market. They are not as close to the touristy (read: Westernized) strip which was a big plus for us. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Good location but rooms varied”
Close to rivers and main attractions
First room was very noisy as at the front of the building plus the bed was awful. Moved to another room for the rest of our stay which was ok for the cost (think the location makes it expensive relative to other towns in Laos). There is free internet use, and free tea/coffee/bananas.

Very good location
Good value, easygoing hotel in a street off the main road so not much direct traffic noise. Not great views however, but very conveniently situated in the old town near the most senic and traditional areas. Book the upstairs rooms.

good location, helpful staff
Quite basic, my room was quite dark - on the ground floor so didn't open the curtain much. Quite old but it sufficed. the guy in charge speaks excellent English. Breakfast is relatively simple: a baguette with butter and jam, a plain omelette, tea and coffee on demand. You can hire bicycles for a small fee, Thida is next to the Mekong in a useful location. I'd nip down to Saffron for a good cup of coffee and elevenses.

Relaxing, basic guesthouse. ”
Quiet location. Big rooms. Friendly staff. Bike rental on site. Close to morning alms path.
There are a lot of guesthouses in Luang Prabang. This one is a great option if you're looking for somewhere quiet and out of the way. It's close to the Mekong River and away from the noise of the main strip. Good and hot water pressure in the shower.

Bugs”
Not much...
Our room was small. The check in was informal, they said because we'd booked through Agoda, they didn't need any of our information. After the first night we woke up covered in bugs. They were in our bed, our luggage, all over the floor. Not sure if every room has the same experience, but we just left with our second night paid, and chose another place to stay.
