Great service, but not without a few problems”
A few pros: -This was one of the cheapest hotels available in HCMC. -The rooms are all singles with queen size beds -air conditioning -complimentary bottled water -fridge -multi-national electric outlets (worked with American plugs) -free WiFi -TV (for anyone interested) The road to get there is more of an alley, and might seem a bit sketchy at night until you spend one day in Tan Binh District. Then you realize just how culturally rich this area is as compared to District 1 (or Quay 1 or Q.1, the backpacker/tourist district). Staff is very friendly and gave some great tips for cheap travel to the highlights of HCMC. There are lots of cheap food places near by with great authentic Vietnamese food (about 1/3 the cost of places in Q.1 and even more delicious). Q.1 is about 15-20 min away by city bus, which costs about 4000-5000 VND (about $0.25-0.30 USD). A few potential problems: -There is no elevator to get to the third floor, which could be a problem for someone carrying heavy luggage. The doormen will definitely give you a hand with it, but it can be a problem for some. -Electricity in HCMC is unreliable, at least in Tan Binh District. There were 2 blackouts which lasted about 20-30 minutes each during the 12 hours I spent in my room. Staff was well-prepared and placed candles on every floor within one minute of the blackouts, and also gave out complimentary beverages as I sat in the front lobby eating my Banh Mi sandwich, enjoying the surprisingly cool evening air. -Traffic is a bit intense on the main road (2 streets away from Thien Vu Hotel), especially for a first-timer to HCMC. There are no "walk" signs at the traffic lights like there are in Q.1, so I spent some time watching local pedestrians and built up courage to learn to cross the street amidst an intimidating stream of motorcycles. Luckily, after that it's easy. Enjoyed this hotel. The only cheaper places were dormitory-style backpacker rooms in Q.1, about $5-10 USD price differ

amazing, highly recommend. lovely staff & hotel”
I cannot say enough about the 22 room hotel of Thien Vu Hotel. I just so happened to stumble across it because it is super close to the airport and while staying in Vietnam I had quite a few flights in and out of the Saigon Airport. I was amazed by the friendly staff and the darling couple that own the hotel. A husband, wife and their son run the whole operation with the support of a few other team players that are just as friendly and accommodating. I only booked one night online, and once I arrived I think I stayed a total of 6 nights all together. They provide transportation to and from the airport for only 5 dollars. The couple that owns the place is ALWAYS available to serve you, I honestly wondered if they ever slept! The rooms are super clean, television has a ton of channels, there is a fridge with two complimentary waters, clean bathrooms and daily room cleanings. The owners wife cooks an amazing american style breakfast for a minimal price and they are always there looking to make your stay in Vietnam so pleasant. They explained to me the bus system and how to get around. Hotel is about 15 mins from District 1 and the backpacking district. The surrounding area is super cheap and full of shops and great restaurants. Not a lot of tourists in the area so you get a real Vietnam experience. LOVED this place and will go back....so cheap, but so nice!

Clean rooms and Great servicee”
Thien Vu Hotel was a decent budget hotel. We were met right away outside at our taxi at 2 a.m. A couple of teenagers carried our luggage to the third floor for us. The next day, Vu gave us a map of the city center and told us where to go to purchase the bus tickets to Nha Trang. We got onto public bus #28, made it to the city center and accomplished all we needed to do. The room was a simple, small but clean 12x9 room including the bathroom. The mirrored wall helped the place to feel bigger. Two sets of slippers (flip flops) were provided. A couple of large water bottles were included for free. Their internet connection was very fast, at least within Vietnam. It turns out they have a fiber optic connection. Vu helped us with whatever information we needed. On our last day, the teenagers carried our luggage out to the bus stop a few blocks away. I would stay at Thien Vu Hotel again without hesitation.

Lovely Place”
my wife and i lived in hcmc for a year, and stayed at thien vu for a week when we first arrived, and then two weeks just before leaving. it is a lovely place to stay, away from the busy streets of this incredibly hectic city. it's a bit difficult to find at first because you have to walk down several small alleys to get to it, but this is the real joy of the place, after all, it isn't easy to find places where you can't hear the beeping of vehicles in hcmc. the rooms are pretty comfortable, with a nice bed, good ac and a tv. although the rooms look a little dated in terms of their decor, they are absolutely spotless. the owners of the hotel are delightful and are very friendly. they can offer home cooked food but were also fine with guests bringing takeaways in from outside restaurants. the location of the hotel is good for both the airport and the centre of the city. in a taxi, it takes about 10 minutes to get to the airport and 15/20 to most of the tourist sites and the centre of the city. the best part about the area is that it is inhabited almost exclusively by vietnamese people so you can find excellent, authentic and cheap local cuisine as opposed to the westernised rubbish you get in the touristy areas. all in all, this is a great value hotel; we stayed there twice and were more than satisfied. we also recommend it to my wife's parents when they came to stay and a good friend of ours, and both parties really liked it!

Lovely hotel”
Hotel is owner operated. Was picked up at the hotel on an overnight stop over to Ho Chi Minh City with no fuss and taken to the airport the next day. Lovely little hotel right near airport, about a 5 - 10 min drive from Ho Chi Minh City airport. Clean, had all adequate amentities and good value for money.

Great Service, perfect for a night between flights”
the staff was wonderful at the thien vu hotel. my flight didn't get in until 1 a.m., and they made sure someone was awake and alert to let me in and carry my bag upstairs. all the staff members greeted me with a smile, but scary friendly. the room i had also had a bathtub, which was nice. i felt very comfortable staying at this hotel. my only complaint is that the doors aren't very solid, and the rooms are pretty small. the hotel is close to the airport, but not to the downtown area, so be prepared to take a taxi or a moto everywhere. but overall, it was exactly what i needed for a day in saigon.

A Truly Vietnamese style hotel”
Thien Vu was designed for middle class Vietnamese travelers. Only recently, since become active on the internet, has it begun to attract foreigners. If you want to experience an authentic 10 year old Vietnamese hotel near the airport, this is the place. The lobby reflects Vietnamese character from the traditional furniture in the lobby with motorbikes on the side, and van in the front. The rooms are simplicity itself but with essentials westerners like: a/c, fan, desk, refrig, bath with tub and shower, comfortable beds. Yet the entire place is very well maintained---no marks on the walls, no mold in the corners, to chipped furniture. The owners are very hospitable. Be sure to contact them through "special requests" at agoda.com to arrange an airport pickup. The hotel is near the airport but off the beaten path.

Lovely Hotel and Service with a Smile”
My stay there was very pleasant, and I will stay at this hotel again when I travel to Ho Chi Minh city. The owner of this hotel will take you to the airport from the hotel for only 5 to 7 dollars. If you can call the hotel from the airport, you will be charged the same amount by the owner.

Very kind and helpful staff”
We stayed one night here, and found the staff to be kind and helpful and the lady on the desk spoke good English. We were welcomed with a watermelon juice drink, and she gave us a map of the city and pointed out places we wanted to go. All in all, she was excellent. The hotel is down a quiet alley (well as quiet as you are going to get in Ho Chi Minh!) and we liked the area....we got the bus 28 to the central bus station opposite the market at negligible price... In the morning the hotel took us to the airport in time for our early morning flight...we think that the price was fair and it was clearly displayed on the desk. The only drawback to this hotel, is that through no fault of their own, the rooms were noisy. This is because all the corridors and floors are tiled, and all noise was amplified....it sounded as thouh someone had decided to move the furniture around in the room above us, and also loud conversations between guests and staff in the corridors did echo late at night. If you are not a heavy sleeper, I think this would wake you up.

Hotel close to airport”
Been staying at Thien Vu for the 4th time now. Its convenient and close location to/from the airport and friendly staff make it perfect hotel for a stopover or longer holiday (although a bit further from the city centre but reachable by bus, scooter or foot). Hotel airport shuttle reliable and for a small extra charge. Good wifi. Will stay again for sure.

Great hotel, fitness center”
the area near thien vu is charming. there are a variety of restaurants and businesses. the hotel is off the main street, which also makes it quiet and peaceful. the rooms are nice with a great desk and good internet for working. the fitness area is small, but functional. there are some weights, a treadmill, and a stationary bicycle.

Your second home in Vietnam”
If you looking for a transit, this is the best hotel in the vicinity of the airport in a budgetary price. Value for the money. The hotel is located off the main road but I didn't face any problem with the address given in the Agoda reservation confirmation. The available food around the hotel area is cheap. For the vegetarian people and fruit lovers, there is a big fruits market close to the market and you will get a lot of varieties of fruits. There is strong Wifi connection all the times. If you wanted to get tips on travelling and safety, speak to the owner. He has lot of things to share and is extremely helpful during your stay in Vietnam. The owner has provided me with bike which I have used to go around the city including the fruits market. The hotel is a family run business. The owners of the hotel is VERY friendly extremely helpful. The owner has taken us to a nursery garden in his own car where we have purchased plants to bring to our place of residence. The day we were leaving, he dropped us to the air port in his car. Just because of the couple, we have never felt that we are staying in a foreign country. It was a great experience staying in this hotel and I would strongly recommend staying in this hotel. The hotel has basic and essential facilities but do not expect more than this for the money you are paying for. The Air conditioner works good. Don’t look into the star rating of the hotel but look into the star treatment that you get it from the owner.

Convenient Stop When Flying from HCMC Airport”
my husband and i decided to stay at this hotel as we were arriving late in to hcmc airport and flying out the next morning from the same airport so we wanted a convenient base for the night. we picked this place because of the reviews and it was a great little stop-over. the staff were very friendly and welcoming and breakfast the next day was very tasty (there is an additional charge for this). the room didn't have a window but you couldn't expect that for the price. otherwise there was air-con and the bed was comfy. i would recommend this hotel for a cheap and cheerful stay but not as a base to explore the city.
