Next door to the British Museum, this heritage property gives guests a taste of old England without sacrificing any modern comforts. Located in Bloomsbury by Tottenham Court Road tube station, the Thistle Holborn is handy to the theaters of the West End and within walking distance of Covent Garden Market, Soho, and Chinatown. Rich in baroque detail, the hotel has undergone a major refurbishment to bring its grand past up-to-date with the requirements and comforts of the modern age. Broadband is available throughout the hotel, and business folk and bridal parties have a choice of handsome function halls at their disposal. Shoppers have their work cut out for them in this location with Oxford Street and Piccadilly Circus both within walking distance of the hotel.

A hotel with an old facade but with modern and new looking rooms”
Situated not far from two lines, it is also convenient to access the British Museum by foot. In fact, it's a short 5 mins walk (if you are in a hurry to beat the queue) to the Museum and there are plenty to eat around the Museum area (not much good food along the main road though). We loved the location because there's also a bus that takes us to the King's Cross station and doing so, we spared ourselves taking the subway with our giant luggages en route to Paris. Walking distance to Primark, Convent city shopping area, etc. It ticked all of our location boxes. The hotel facade is a little old. But it looks quaint in the inside. The rooms are probably newly renovated and it is HUGE. We had no qualms spreading our 29 inch luggages in the room with enough room to walk around. Facilities are quite limited and the TV is tiny. But who goes to London staying in their rooms watching TV. What we also loved is their drying towel rack. Hot & crisp towels every morning!

Super location and lovely staff. ”
Ideally located for theatre district and Oxford Street. Rooms are nice, just what you need. Beds were comfy and bedding soft and fresh. Breakfast wasn’t included, but quite reasonable at £12 extra for a help-yourself buffet with so many options. Nice little bar area too. The hotel felt warm and cosy- we had a lovely stay - would definitely stay there again.

Reason I checked into this hotel is to celebrate my anniversary.. Boy.. I'm really happy with the service.. The staffs were excellent I am beyond happy.. They upgraded my room for free, prepared my room with rose petals, made towel swans.. This is what quality, hospitality, value for money is all about.. Kudos to all the staffs that made a pleasant stay for me :)
Excellent city hotel”
Absolutely excellent and this is coming from a seasoned traveller. The staff are probably the best I've come across in the world, attention to detail must be their middle names. The rooms are smart and comfortable and bathrooms small, but big enough. Location is great, quiet - but only a 5 minute walk to Soho and Covent Garden.
Good location and great service”
all the staff are very friendly. the bedroom and the bathroom are big and clean. the hotel is very close to holborn station which is very central. beautiful decor. i will definitely go back there again.
Beautiful hotel with nice decent rooms”
Hotel was nice and clean. We stayed for 2 nights, hotel was chosen due to it's location. It was near our meeting places and it wasn't hard to get around. We stayed in the executive king bed room. Design of the hotel was beauty and of cos the room was of a reasonable size. Would definitely recommend others.
The main thing abt hotel I looked out for when I travel is the cleanness of the hotel. The hotel was big with nice deco. I like that bedsheets are white. The bed are nice and fluffy. Room service are polite and friendly. The only thing is that breakfast was not included in but it wasn't difficult to go around for food. It's location is convenient.
I had a single room for 2 weeks. Nothing to complain about, sometimes a bit noisy because view on the street. Obviously the room was small but clean and well equiped and good location of the hotel. I would maybe express a reservation about - AC/heating system like in most of London hotel - food from the hotel a night which was ok/ average.

There is no security in the hotel as anyone can enter from the front door and they can use the left easily no card is needed to use the lefts! The beds and pillows are not comfortable at all! Everything else is fine.
Dear Shaimaa, Thank you for posting a review of your stay at Thistle Holborn-The Kingsley and for bringing your concerns to our attention. good value for money / super convenient location”
We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights. It is perfectly located in walking distance to most of the theaters and a few very good restaurants. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a weekend stay in London. The room was spacious and clean.
Dear Sigrid, Thank you for posting a lovely review of your stay at Thistle Holborn-The Kingsley Hotel. We are delighted to hear that you had a pleasant stay with us and found the room spacious and clean. The location of the hotel is ideal for the leisure traveller, many of London's West End Theatres are a short stroll away from the hotel. World famous shopping street, Oxford Street, with more than 300 shops can be reached in less than 20-minute walk. We look forward to welcoming you back for another memorable stay next time you are visiting London. Warm regards, Tolga Ersen Operations Manager
Fantastic location ”
The hotel is is located a 2min walk from Covent Garden and also close to oxford street. It was so convenient for shopping. Easy to pop back to the hotel if we needed. Parking at Bloomsbury square just round the corner, half price if the hotel validates the ticket. Bed and pillows were lovely and comfortable - we had a king size. Will definitely stay here again
Good response for the problem”
We had drain problem at shower booth. We asked them to fix it during we were out for sight-seeing. But they came and fixed immidiately during our breakfast time at the restaurant. We found thier apology letter in the room. It is very good consideration for the guest.
bad check in experience, convenient location”
Bad experience during checking in this hotel. Staff at the check in counters were unorganised and unhelpful. Comfortable and quiet rooms. Very convnient location, near to tube stations and the British Museum, walking distance to covent garden and there are restaurant choices nearby.
Lovely staff, excellent service and location”
We booked in for two nights and were met by very pleasant and competent front-of-house staff. Our room was nicely appointed, the decor unobtrusive. The hotel is located very near to Shaftesbury Ave and only a few minutes walk to Coventry Garden and Soho. As we ate a late breakfast, we put the overdone sausages down to them having been under the buffet heat too long. Next day was the same and we concluded sausages are cooked in the oven for too long, which was disappointing but we would still recommend The Thistle.
December 2014 Xmass break stay”
We had a wonderful 4 night stay with our 3 children. We had a delux double and a jr. suite for our family, which worked well. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel had a friendly, open feel. Especially nice was the bus stop right outside the door, which we took to many sites. Also 5 minute walk to British museum and 10 min. to theatres. We loved Matilda the Musical and felt safe walking back to the hotel at 10 p.m. Good restaurants nearby: Savoir Faire, and Punjab.
Perfect London base”
Perfect location for theatreland, covent garden etc. Staff couldn't do enough for us. Can't comment on food as we were room only and ate out, however I would imagine same quality would apply. The concierge (sorry don't know his name but he is from Slovakia) was lovely. Very helpful and charming. View from room not good (onto a brick wall) but only in the room for sleeping. Would recommend.
Comfortable hotel with attentive staff.”
This hotel provided an excellent base from which to explore London in the short time we were there. The check in process was painless and they offered me the option to add breakfast for us for 10GBP each at that time. The option was also available to pay in our home currency which was nice. The concierge was attentive and assisted us with an umbrella, storing our luggage after check out, arranging a transfer to Heathrow (49GBP quoted however the driver said it was 50GBP), arranging tickets for a hop on hop off bus and tickets to the Tower of London and also letting us know that the London Eye was closed for annual maintenance (but we still walked there to catch an evening river cruise anyway). The hotel was close to a variety of restaurants, transport options (buses, tube), gardens, pubs, shows, sights/museums, and shows. The bed was comfortable and we enjoyed the internet and reverse cycle capable air conditioner in the room.
Comfortable and convenient inner London”
My teenage daughter and I chose to spend a little extra on accommodation in London to ensure we had a decent sized bedroom and bathroom and were not disappointed. The staff were ever so helpful and tried very hard to please but in some cases were let down by lack of attention to fine detail. Although if requested, this hotel caters for food intolerances, we had issues with the food that we ordered on several occasions as it did not arrive at our table as described in the menu. The wait staff/manager did compensate for this but the small detail does make a difference to the comfort and convenience of a stay.
Fantastic staff, great location, and modern room”
My mother and I had a lovely week at Thistle. The staff went out of their way to assist you. The location was also great. I decided to get the breakfast voucher for one morning and in retrospect it turned out to be great value. The voucher of ten pounds included taxes and the quality and variety of breakfast was great.
