Welcoming. Comfortable. Excellent staff”
From the friendly hello, to the warm goodbye, please come again, the four days at Thistle Kensington Gardens Hotel was some of the best ever in London. I saw Susan at Reception several times to have questions answered—she is an asset to the hotel. The location was fine for me, close to tube, bus, ordinary shopping (not M&S or Harrod’s type), Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park is across the street—quite lovely walks with bicycles on a separate path. The bartender remembered my drink the second evening, and the third, room service was timely, and the food well prepared. I can’t find a single negative note! And—there’s a lift! Easy to get to the sights and sounds and specialty shopping, , but removed from them if you don’t.
Dear Gayle, We were thrilled about your nice review and pleased you had an enjoyable stay with. We will pass on your kind words to Susan and the team and we hope we can welcome you back to the hotel next time you are in London.
GREAT LOCATION, GREAT BED”
We stayed at Thistle Kensington Gardens for four nights. The location of the hotel was perfect, close to most of the attractions. Room had a a good view of Hyde Park. The bed was the most comfortable bed so far I've experienced at a hotel including the five star ones. The room was tiny (double deluxe) but compact, well designed and very clean. We faced the staff only during check-in and check-out, so there is not much to say but they were quite friendly and everything went smoothly. We didn't use the hotel's facilities to eat breakfast or dinner because we wanted to make the most out of London as far as we could.
Great location for People who love a morning run.”
Thistle Kensington Garden locates just opposite the famous Hyde Park. Walking or Running in Hyde Park is very refreshing and highly recommend. The location of the hotel is very convenient since it is very close to Queensway tube Station and Bus stop. The Room is stylish and comfortable. Highly recommend.
Dear patrakit, Many thanks for your wonderful review and your compliments about the Thistle Kensington Gardens at its Location. We do have a lot of our guests going for a morning or evening run. We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon.
This is our fave hotel everytime we are in London yearly. We love its location as it is right across Hyde park and near Queensway where we always frequent the chinese restaurants there. There are lots of grocery stores nearby too and the Queensway subway station. The hop on hop off bus stop is also just across the hotel. You can even walk to Oxford street if you're up for the exercise! 😉 We also love that its near the Kensington garden. What else can I say about this hotel?! Thumbs up!
Dear Maria, Thank you for your amazing review, we were delighted to read you had a great stay and you enjoyed the location. We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon again.
Great position, reasonable size room as we also had an extra bed for our 12 yr old daughter. Very clean, nice view, but found the beds very hard. It is near underground station queensway or Lancaster rd and there are lots of restaurants along queensway rd. Especially liked bella Italia, it is a chain but food was very good and reasonable. If you get the special map from reception you get 20% discount. We booked the golden tours hop on hop off bus and although normally I hate that sort of touristy thing it was very good for getting about and the drivers were very helpful. All in all I would recommend the thistle Kensington gdns which is actually in Hyde park. The restaurant was not bad but overpriced and we didn't get breakfast so can't comment on that.
Great overnight stay”
We were two couples, staying one night for a birthday celebration. The location was great, right across from Hyde Park. Paid a bit more for a double executive room with a view of the park. It was nice to stay in London and not look at other buildings. We checked in early, and only one of our rooms was available. They said the next room would be ready in about half hour, but it still wasn't ready half hour later. This wasn't much of an issue, as we were heading out for the day. When we arrived back at the hotel around 11pm, our keys were there waiting for us. The rooms are beautifully decorated, but simple. The bathroom was clean, and has an excellent system for turning the shower or bath on (you don't have to reach in and get wet!). My only issue with the room was the duvet and the carpets. There was a very thin blanket on the bed with a duvet cover on it The duvet cover was much larger than the blanket, which meant you had at least a foot of empty duvet cover on each side of the bed and with two people in bed, the blanket doesn't actually cover both of you. Also, the carpets are well worn, and very stained. So disappointing when the rest of the room was decorated to such a high standard. We didn't eat in the restaurant, so unfortunately can't comment on that. Parking is extortionate though, but that's part of being in London. The nearest tube station is Queensway. We made the mistake of thinking it was Lancaster Gate, as google maps shows that the hotel is right between the two, but it's not accurate. All in all, it was a good stay. A nice hotel with a beautiful view of Hyde Park.
Great location... no regrets!”
We enjoyed our 10 day stay at the Thistle Kensington Gardens Hotel because it was situated along Bayswater Road and was right across Hyde Park! There were several groceries nearby and my fave was that it was near several good chinese restaurants since I'm a chinese food lover! The hop on hop off bus stop was right infront of the hotel too! Location wise, it was great! The executive room we got was a tad small for the price they charged for it! Buffet breakfast was alright though it didn't have any bacon servings. One could have a cheaper breakfast meal at nearby restos along Queensway. Tube stations were also just walking distance. I particularly love that we were able to stroll in Kensington gardens/park as well which was refreshing! We don't have that much clean park from our country so that was a good change. And oxford street was just a fw bus stops away for some great shopping! I would stay here again next time!
Dear Maria Thank you for your review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We do hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon.
I love to run so location in front of Kensington Gardens / Hyde Park was great. The well-stocked Waitrose outlet at the petrol station just steps outside the hotel which closes at 11 pm nightly was most convenient and I had access to fresh fruits, Evian water and sandwiches. My room was clean and front desk staff, Susan and her male colleague were most helpful. Room was very clean and water pressure from Grohe taps were good. Changed towel and toiletries were clean. Although sometimes housekeeping staff was not very responsive and lack initiative, this was a minor inconvenience if planned in advance and instructions write down as reminders. I have stayed in many hotels across London from the Ritz to other properties. The convenience to authentic "Gold Mine" Chinese restaurant and shops, not to mention the ease of Queensway subway Central Line will surely make me a return customer. I had a very enjoyable stay and smoke-free experience this winter.
Dear Raymond, Thank you for your wonderful review and your kind words for Susan and the team. We were delighted you enjoyed your stay. The location is ideal being in central London but having the park for a walk or run is great to relax or switch off after a busy day. We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon again.
Good locationg and fantastic service”
My mom and I stayed here two nights. Staff is very friendly. When I checked in, the reception told me details about how to use these facilities well. I asked the laundry service, the man (one reception staff)told me if I feel like the hotel Laundry service is expensive, I could go to an alternative place to top up and wash it by myself. The room is very clean and tidy. The hotel is just beside Hyde Park and Kensington Park, easy to walk in two beautiful parks. There are 2 or 3 elevators so that we don't need to carry 4 suitcases by myself. All the staff I met were friendly, polite, warm heart and very nice！ I come back in the future London trips. !! btw recommended!
Dear Sherry, Thank you for your wonderful review, we were pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon again.
Great Location and Service”
Chosen mainly for location and onsite car parking. Great if you need to be in London and are driving, but don't want to go into the congestion zone/heavy traffic areas. Very quick access to the A40 to head west of London. Also, nice quick walk through Kensington gardens to Kensington High Street for shopping. Lovely helpful staff on reception and very clean rooms. Only con is that the rooms are compact and may be a bit cramped if two people are sharing a Double room.
I would definitely stay here again and would not hesitate to recommend it. When comparing London hotels, this hotel offers a great combination of comfort, convenience and value for money. Location is so convenient for getting around London and Hyde Park (buses and two underground stations - Queensway & Bayswater). We arrived at 10.30AM and the room was available and we were allowed to check in early. The room was spacious, very clean and very comfy with a lovely view of Hyde Park. The shower was fantastic and the toilietries supplied were lovely.
Lovely hotel in great location.”
loved this hotel, newly refurbished, good size bedrooms, front of hotel overlooking kensington gardens. we stayed on the second floor and had a nice view of the gardens opposite. all staff were pleasant and accommodating. didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment although bar and restaurant area looked welcoming. within walking distance to two tube stations. parking at for 24 hours with no reduction for guests staying at the hotel....expensive even for london.
Excellent stay - Third time”
this is our 3rd time staying at thistle kensington gardens. we liked it so much we have stayed another 2 times! great service and friendly staff. each time we have only stayed overnight to put our heads down for a special occasion. the rooms are small (but typical of london) but all very new and bathrooms are new and very clean.
I highly recommend Thistle Kensington Gardens. The room was clean and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The location is ideal and it is lovely to walk across the street to Hyde Park.
Dear Nancy, Thank you for your amazing review, we were thrilled you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your kind words for the staff which I will be happy to pass on to the team. We were pleased you made use of the park opposite the hotel, it is indeed nice for a walk or run. We hope we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel very soon again.
Great City Hotel at Hyde Park & Close to Bayswater”
One of the best hotels I've stayed at in London within the affordable range. Modern room and fittings, not the Victorian conversions found in so many London hotels in this price range. Great location, near Queensway and Bayswater tube station, which is only one stop away from Paddington and the Heathrow Express. Can't speak for all the rooms, but I had a lovely room with view onto Hyde Park - would usually cost twice as much than what I paid. All in all, am happy to recommend.
Great location and friendly staff”
all staff were friendly and welcoming from arrival to check out. restaurant staff excellent and helpful in meeting requests. hotel on bayswater road close to tube and bus transport. hyde park and kensington gardens across the road. would definitely stay here again. great value!
Hotel with All You Need”
Thistle Kensington is our regular hotel over the past 7 years and this testifies to our confidence. It is well located across Kensington Gardens, a few minutes walk to the nearest tube station, and to Queensway where there is an impressive variety of eateries, supermarkets and shops. The hotel itself is a practical one - no fanciful peripheries (unnecessary to the regular travelers) but a restaurant to provide very good quality dishes at good prices. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Rooms are slightly tight in space but sufficient. Wifi works at most times.
Best location ”
It was an awesome place to stay. Very close by to underground tube and bus stop. Also had great food with few awesome restaurants close to the hotel. Most of them are halal which is great for me. Nearby to Malaysian Hall just around the corner. Also had a good walk around in the Hyde Park which located in-front of the hotel. Hotel room was great for two person. The staff were great. They gave me late check out for me to hang around while my flight was late afternoon. Will be coming back here the next time I come to London
Thank you for your nice review and we hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon.
Great location, except for seeing the touristy points of interest. ”
I'll go down the list of categories. Value for money: It was definitely pricey, but for the time of year and location, it was on par with other hotels. The rooms are quite small, but are nice. The facility as a whole is definitely on the nicer side. Not sure I would pay that price in London again. Location: It was literally steps away from Hyde Park. It was a great location with regards of feeling safe, not as busy as other parts of London and close to a station on the Central Line. With that said, all of the points of interest for tourists, there's a lot of transferring cross other lines. Some of those connections were kind of long walks and lots of stairs up and down. I was worn out! Cleanliness: They did a great job cleaning the rooms daily and the facility as a whole was quite clean and maintained. One tip: if you are used to using wash cloths to shower, I recommend asking for them early at the front desk. Staff: Great! Facilities. Great! The restaurant on site was good.
Dear Carla, Thank you for your wonderful review, we were pleased you enjoyed your stay and you liked the facilities and location. We hope we can welcome you back to the hotel very soon again.
The room was fairly small but clean and comfortable. We booked a family room, which it was not, just a double room with a put up bed added. This was fine as we were not planning to spend a lot of time in the hotel but think the description as a family room is misleading as there was hardly any room to move around the room with the additional bed. As the hotel is located on a busy road it was very noisy with traffic noise and sirens all night! Our view overlooked Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens which was beautiful in the autumn sunshine and you could also just make out the London Eye in the distance! Overall a nice stay, but very expensive for what you get - although all London hotel prices seem to be expensive!
