"Very convenient going to/ from Central district. Even though the hotel is on Thonburi side, we can quickly travel to Siam, Rachadamri, Silom shopping area by rails. Staff is very helpful and friendly. The room is very nice and clean (everything looks new). The decorations and exterior look modern and elegant. "

The Aiyapura Bangkok
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"There is nothing stylish in this hotel, which offers decent accomodation and superb facilities (very modern gym and large pool) for a cheap price. However, the location of this hotel, in Thonburi on the other side of the river, is simply fantastic. On one hand, you have very quick access to central Bangkok with the Skytrain a few steps away, and Silom or Siam a few stops away. On the other hand, you will be residing in a very lively street of traditional Bangkok: there's an amazing wet market right next door, there is street food everywhere, the whole area becoming a giant restaurant at night. There are literally dozens of temples to visit in the area, you can wander for hours among the small allies and canals without EVER encountering a single tourist, a single farang ! Unbelievable in the #1 tourist destination of the world, but in the 3 days here I have never met a single foreigner outside of the hotel... but locals will invite you to your table at dinner on the street, invite you to pray in temples, children will ask you for photos.... a whole other world, just just 5 BTS stop away from Silom ! AMAZING!"

Aim House Bangkok Hotel (SHA Certified)
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"Location: **** easily accessible by private car or taxi, 700 m. walking distance from BTS Krung Thonburi. The problem is when the traffic jam around, walking seem faster than by car. The entrance road to the building is quite narrow and the hotel sign is quite small, it is just before 7-11 on the left hand! Universal design: ** accessible by a wheelchair with a helper in most area of the room, no disabled toilets and parking. Cleanness: ***** standard cleanness in all areas with good maintenance. Safety: **** use a keycard to access the room, but the door to the lifts are open for all during the daytime. The hotel is committed to a smoke-free policy, but some guests still violate the rules, two smoke alarms in one day. They also sit smoking outside in the front door. Food: * no included breakfast, the pre-ordered breakfast is across the road 130B/set. Internet:***** fast and strong signal free wifi in the room and lobby. Staffs: **** friendly and informative staffs. Facilities: "

W Station
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"The hotel is next to a bts station so it is very convenient. You can tell the owner is looking after the place as it is beautifully detailed and kept very clean. Most hotels in bangkok (including 5 star ones) have the stench of wastewater as they do not use a S trap so the smell of the sewage is often in the room. I did not experience this at W station hotel. The room is large and there is a day bed where you can put your large luggage. Excellent feature. The hot water and water pressure is great. I will definately stay here again."

Sivalai Place Bangkok

"we needed somewhere close to Thonburi Noi station for an early depart to Nam Tok. This was perfect. Clean room, good size, excellent shower, air con, kitchen facilities, mini bar at supermarket prices. Staff friendly and helpful. the small restaurant serves cheap but good food, more like a cafe really but does the job. the block has a small supermarket, tennis, gym and pool all included in the price! Use the map on the website to give to your taxi driver (480bht from Suvarnabmi airport)and be prepared for a little confusion as you get very close. A really excellent place to stay if you are doing the River Kwai railway trip. (also well worth it! 100 bht for a 6hr journey. an amazing Thai experience)"

"This hotel is situated in Thonburi closer to Wongwian Yai and Phonimit railway stations. It is a newly built star hotel with ultra-friendly staff members, clean rooms, delicious food and many more. I highly recommend this place for any traveler who wants to spend his/her time outside the crowded BKK town area. "

White Ivory Bed and Breakfast
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"A quiet peaceful stay out of the tourist route. Taxis may find it difficult. Local street food stalls and open air market 5min walk down the road (5am-6am in morning) allow you to see day to day local bangkok thai life. 5 min walk to BTS Thonburi, 30min to Mochit BTS, 711s, 24x7 nearby, 3 decentish coffee shops neaby, 15min walk to Sena shopping mall with a suprise find, a local rec muay thai gym 500bht can do morning or evening daily. The hotel itself is lovely, boutique cosy, nice elegant decor, great for couples, a decent full breakfast every day makes a difference, we had both thai and western every day for variety. Coffee is decently ok too. Staff are lovely. Bed is nicely soft firm. Bathroom Rain shower with toiletries. The only con here is you will be doing lots of walking up stairs as there are no lifts. To me a fitness buff this is a pro but this is the only aspect that will put off some ppl, everything about this place is lovely. All in all a very lovely gem in bkk."

"We stayed only one night hotel, it was perfect. Location was good as we had plans nearby. We booked the small room, there was few amenities but the room was very convenient, clean and look brand new. One problem was the room get the smell of smoke whereas we asked a non-smoking room. We highly recommend this hotel for short stay and sleep."

Baansuanprannok Hotel
Thonburi,Thonburi - View on map
"We used the hotel for an overnight stay prior to catching the train from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi as the hotel is less than a kilometer from the Thonburi Railway station. The rooms are new and clean with full kitchen, microwave as well as the normal appliances. The service was brilliant, Nancy went out of her way to help us around, we arrived late (the reception closes at 8pm) but she was there within 5 minutes of us arriving to do the check-in, breakfast was great and she drove us to the train station and ensured that we got the correct tickets at the station. Thank you Nancy and the rest of the family at Baan Suan Prannok Residence."

More about Thonburi

West of the Chao Phraya River, Thonburi is one of Bangkok’s most authentic neighborhoods. It dates to Bangkok’s earliest days as capital, when Ayutthaya was sacked by the Burmese. General Phraya Taksin used Thonburi as temporary capital decades before the Chakri Dynasty made a capital out of Bangkok.

Between Thonburi and the Chao Phraya is the Riverside area, a thin slice of land rich with luxury hotels, rooftop restaurants and beautiful temples like Wat Arun. The atmosphere in Thonburi may be more low-key and residential, but it’s very affordable and properties near the expressways link to central Bangkok easily. New BTS stations Wongwian Yai and Thonburi make the journey to Siam's shopping district in less than 30 minutes. There are also plenty of ancient temples, including Wat Tha Phra, Wat Bang Sao Thong and Wat Bang Waek nearby.

Hotels in Thonburi have excellent access to the small canals that branch off of the Chao Phraya and wind their way through water villages that have changed very little in the last half-century. This network of waterways once earned Bangkok the nickname, ‘Venice of the East’, and tours by long-tail boat are a highlight.

A few floating markets are hidden away in Thonburi. Also worthwhile are the museums exploring Thonburi’s 15-year stint as the Siamese capital. Most of the attractions, from the temples to King Taksin the Great’s monument and the Princess Mother Memorial Park are on or near Bangkok Yai canal.
