Little island paradise”
Ticao Island Resort is a very pleasurable place to stay. We have spent 5 nights on the island and can't be happy enough with the place selection. Even before our journey Jessica (resort representative) arranged a transfer and provided us with all required information. During our stay all the staff were very friendly, we appreciated individual approach to their guests. Resort operates on full board basis, in the morning you get a good choice of breakfast options including local and European dishes followed by nice lunch (packed option available if you are diving) and buffet style dinner. All dishes were delicious and we never felt hungry during our stay. All the activities (scuba diving, waterfall tour, firefly tour) we participated in were very well though and we really enjoyed each of them. Or course, diving was the best, we have seen a lot of micro life around San Miquel island and being lucky to see mantas! Overall, relaxing atmosphere together with the beautiful view and delicious meals made our stay full of only positive emotions and nice memories. Highly recommended!
Ticao Island is worth getting too. ”
We loved our visit to Ticao Island Resort. It is a little hard to get to, vans and boat rides. But well worth the effort. You stay on the beach after being welcomed by the friendly team. The activities are great. I started my PADI with GL in the dive shop, and we all (including a 7 yr old) went snorkelling at what I think is the best spot I have ever seen (San Miguel Island). We also enjoyed kayaking, firefly watching, a motorbike tour of the local area, and just meeting and interacting with the kids from the local fishing village. It was also geat to learn more of Whale Sharks and thew Manta Bowl from the onsite research team. Would gladly return and look forward to doing so,
Best value for your money!”
Pros: Friendly staff, genuine service, delicious and affordable food. Cabanas were just spacious, couple or group would enjoy the accommodation, toilet is very clean. You will truly feel that you’re on vacation! Quiet at night and very relaxing! The ambience, place and the view was just ashtonishing! I highly recommend this place for travelers! The staff was just amazing and very helpful! Impeccable! Me and my girlfriend were very happy and satisfied with Ticao Island Resort! Will definitely visit next year! No cons! :)
Ticao Island tropical home away from home”
Ticao Island Resort could not get any better - well maybe the bedding could be update. Cleanliness and housekeeping were meticulous. The staff are fantastic, the food delicious and when you say 'Thankyou' they say 'you're welcome' with a beaming smile. There is difficulty with wifi but hey you are on a beautiful island with great people so immerse yourselves in their island - this is what I call a vacation. I hope you get to enjoy this island as much as we did.
Great service, food and the staff are all friendly and accommodating. Its just hard to reach the place coming from Masbate City. You need to take the ferry from the port from Masbate, then a VAN and boat again before reaching the Resort.
beautiful resort in an amazing place”
We stayed 3 nights at Ticao island resort, its been the highlight of our holiday, food was really good, place was nice and relaxing. We dived and saw mantas, whale shark and TREASURE SHARK!!!! At night we did karaoke with the dive master and instructor who are so lovely! We had such a good time with the dive crew! Thanks a lot, we hope to come back next holidays. Adam and Maya
I had a great time during my stay. Though, the typhoon was forecasted to hit Samar and other nearby provinces except Masbate, but I guess since its facing Samar so it has been affected too. Its hard to get to the resort, the road heading to the resort was damaged. I had to get off the habal-habal numerous times. Good thing, I was able to arrive safe and sound. And, I got a spacious room all for myself but not the restroom. It turns out to be shared with other guy guests leaving some stains which in fact, they have their own designated male restroom. On the other hand, I wasn't able to swim; the water is yellowish like in the river. Some garbage flashed all over the shore. So, I decided to just do kayaking. I was able to feel how quaint life is in this resort. Its all worth-it after all. Their staff are courteous. You really feel like you're home away. I'll definitely go back not during typhoon season and will try diving next time.
Sumptuous food, very kind and accommodating staff esp. ms. Grace, ms. Vicky, marvin, & all of the resort’s staff. We had a great time staying in this lovely resort. Though it’s quite challenging going to Ticao Island but it’s all worth it. Highly recommendable!!!
I had a fantastic time at Ticao Island resort. The diving was unbelievable. I did alot of reading and relaxing. The food was delicious and all the staff lovely. I hope to go back one day!
Great experience at Ticao! ”
We had a great experience at Ticao Island Resort. Excellent food, staff/service, and activities offered! The beach in front of hotel could be a bit cleaner.
Brilliant place to stay ”
We loved staying at Ticao. Snorkelling, diving (started PADI), talking to manta bowl researchers, firefly, motorbike tours, island hoping, waterfalls. All was great. Very relaxed and gentle accommodation and amazing staff from arrival to farewell.
Best place where I was in the Philippines , the island itself, the Manta bowl, whaleshark, corals”
Im sure we will be going back here, it’s better than El Nido, it’s very relaxing and not crowded. Diving is breathtaking , one of the most beautiful dive I ever had. The staff in Ticao Island are all friendly.
Paradise in Philippines”
Ticao Resort and staff are uniquely special. Off the beat and path. Beautiful scenery. Really great staff. Scuba diving is excellent for macro and Manta Rays. Only downfall is the difficulty of getting there. But go into with an adventurous attitude and you be pleased.
Amazing place to get disconnected to the world and connect to the nature ”
It's my reschedule trip to Ticao Island. I supposed to come during last Chris time, however because of the weather issue, the manager Jessica kindly told me do not come and they will keep the room for me to let me re-schedule in any time during 2017. This is not something normal resort will do. I was impressed back then. Traveling here without private pick-up I can foresee very difficult. I was lucky enough got a on-ride pick up however later today I'm going to experience the legend public transportation. My suggestion is come here as a group, try to get the private transportation package. It's too pricy for a solo traveler. It's definitely not cheap here, especially if u are alone, however traveling alone is always more pricy. The resort actually was nice to tell me to come in certain times so that I can join other dive group to share the cost, however, my schedule is not allowed me to do so. Before came, they explained me clearly about the diving package. Average to say, if I want to take a boat out alone, it will cost me around 3,000 php / dive without gears. I was hesitated in it because it's unusual expensive. Eventually I did it. Guess because of also unusual staff, well trained, super friendly and helpful so I decide to give it a try. Lucky me, 1 day diving with 3 dives. At San Miguel point I saw black butter fish, Flounder, Green frog fish (hope I was not wrong). At Manta-Bow spot, it's amazing. First one I saw the babe whaleshark, it's was so closed. 2nd one, 5 mantaeays + a big whaleshark who was swimming in top of us. And it came to a monomer that I don't know where to keep my eyes on: right or left or top 😇🙃. I knew it sounds incredible but even the dive master and instructor said it has to be super lucky can see both in one dive and I only dive one day. The rest activities are also very nice, I tried the horse riding (not really, they don't let me really ride it), motorbike trip to the waterfall (okay, waterfall is nothing amazing, riding
We had a terrific 4 night stay at Ticao. The island is very peaceful, staff super helpful and friendly, great food and excellent diving at the nearby Manta bowl. Cabins are all right on the beach, facing the sea, with horses and dogs roaming about freely. A great place to get away from it all.
Manta, fireflies, glowing algae!”
We only experienced kindness from the owner to the staff, dive master, dive guides, everyone! We are aware that this resort is off the beaten path but we still took public transportation to get to the island and it wasn't so bad. From Legazpi, take the van to Pilar Port (1-1.5hrs), then take the boat to Monreal (2hrs), then ride the motorcycle/habal-habal (40mins) to the resort. We were lucky to see manta in one of our dives and the moonless night allowed us to enjoy firefly watching, stargazing and watching the ocean glow from bioluminescent planktons! The resort is inside the cove so the waves are mostly calm and quiet. The food could use some seasoning but they have the best local beef I ever had in the Philippines!
Where to stay in Ticao”
Stayed here in June and there's not much people which made it a truly relaxing vacation. Ate Vicky and the whole staff were nice and accommodating. They took care of me and made me feel at home. The only downside is the road going to the resort if you're choosing to take habal habal, otherwise you can rent a boat from San Jacinto port which is a better alternative. Food was great, big servings and they can accommodate anything you like. The beach Hut rooms were simple and comfortable. Really has an islander feel. Kudos to the free kayaks and horseback riding because you'll never feel bored. The best thing is having a dive shop on site for those who wants to take their padi and dive on real diving spots such as the manta bowl. My guide kuya Oscar was super nice as well! I'll be sure to come back and I highly recommend this place.
Fantastic Relaxing small resort & great staff ”
The resort is only small with 9 individual cabanas (beach hut) rooms, each with en suite and AC. They also have 4 budget rooms in a set back block with shared facilities. Located in it's own bay and as part of a large farming ranch this is a truly relaxing spot. No TV, phone service is intermittent and internet is slow when it works - all makes this a great get away. Well established dive centre, plenty of kit, compressor with Nitrox. The dive staff are friendly and some good dive spots from micro stuff at San Miguel Island or Manta Rays in Manta Bowl within a short boat rode. We enjoyed so much thinking of going back again this year!!
Ticao Island on my mind”
Pros.. great place and great people plus very tasty food. It was most relaxing break for us. Spent a lot of time in the balcony of cabanas 10&11. We were lounging and having a great time with dogs and horses roaming around. We went island hopping, my hubby went to manta bowl ( two mantas were sighted), 3 of us did DSD, firefly watching and rode the horses like kids.. again. Cons... hmmm nothing really except maybe it is not that easy to get there but then it makes the whole experience better. Well.. the communities on both side should be taught more about segregation of waste and not throw trash indiscriminately. The resort cleans its front every morning but they keep coming back.
Beautiful resort and serviceminded staff”
The resort itself is very beautiful, clean and have most facilities you could want. The pictures do however lie a bit when it comes to location. On each side of the resort there are two small villages where suage and trash runs out from and also the fresh water river comes out right next to the resort. This gives a fresh/saltwater mix which is very brown and not very tempting to swim in... It was also not possible to leave the resort without having someone to accompany you. We wanted to rent a scooter/motorcycle to take a look around, but this they did not want us to do without a driver as the roads were in such bad condition. We were for this reason glad we only stayed two nights. So over to the good parts...:-) We came for the diving and Manta bowl. We had a fantastic day and was rewarded with seeing 4 mantas in the 2 dives. The current wasn't that bad, but the the visibility wasn't then the best, but you can't have it all...! We came very close on the first dives and had a long interaction with the mantas. On the second dive there were other boats and even though we saw a manta we couldn't get as close that time. We were very happy anyhow and GL was a great dive master. The service on the resort is outstanding and the food was great, especially the buffet. The drinks vere pricy compared to other places, but without competition that was somewhat expected. Try to arrange transfer to/from the resort together with others, that will save you a bit of money...
