Around the corner from the crowds”
Location, friendly staff and price
Though it is a bit run down and the fittings and furnishings are tired this is the second time we chose to stay here. It's only a couple of moments walk from the bustle of the gown centre but is calm and relaxing. In terms of value for money it would be very hard to beat. Recommended.

quiet little oasis just off the centre of Ubud”
the family, the whole site, location
Ubud is hot and bustling, but this is a little oasis just off one of the main streets. Rooms are simple but plenty comfortable enough, and its great to sit on your balcony looking out across the gardens. Breakfast was simple but good, and the couple of meals we had in were excellent (mind you, we did a cookery demonstration, so had a hand in one of them). Small menu, but that's often no bad thing. Easy walk to Monkey Forest, plenty of restaurants and one of the nicer shopping streets. They will usually be able to a give you a lift to other parts of Ubud, and a taxi back from anywhere should be £3-5. It wouldn't be far to walk really, were it not for the heat and humidity.

comfortable, but hotel needs work”
friendly staff, quiet neigbourhood, affordable
think more 'homestay' rather than 'hotel'. you need to get a mindset shift that breakfast may take up to half and hour to get served even if you are the only ones being served; the gas-fired shower unit has minor explosions/flameouts when you turn the tap on (and temperature range is either inferno or tepid), the leaky WC doesn't get fixed when you ask for it to be fixed, WIFI can be erratic. And things you thought you arranged upon time of booking weren't done (like getting a car and driver). These are not major issues, but you need to be patient, flexible and improvise where necessary!

Home away from home”
the food, the garden, the staff
Our stay at Tiing Gading was excellent. From check in to check out, we could not have had a better experience. The food is the real highlight of the place - authentic, delicious, generous portions - you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. It is an easy walk away from the market, shopping and cultural centre of Ubud. The rooms and surroundings are perfect for relaxation - you won't want to leave the hotel. I would have liked to stay an extra day in Ubud, just to spend more time here.

Very pleasant.”
The owners, the staff and the breakfast.
A friend and I stayed here for 4 nights / 3 days and Alan and Siti went out of their way to make sure that we got the most out of our stay. When we telephoned from a restaurant in town to get the address of a spa they had recommended, Alan drove out picked us up and took us there. The next day, when they heard that we wanted to visit the museum, they drove us there too. The staff were also exceptionally friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fantastic.

Friendly centrally located, budget bungalows”
friendly, clean, great local cusine
Siti, Paul and their staff are all very friendly and she was particularly helpful in directing and sometimes driving us to sights of interest. Abud is now a very busy Asian city so if your home is in a rural area bring some ear plugs if your not an earlier riser. Their kitchen turns out some the best local cuisine.

This is a wonderful place that I highly recommend.”
The hosts, Siti and Allen are special people. The food is excellent and the ambiance is terrific.
This place is charming. I stayed at 2,3,4, and five star hotels on this trip to SE Asia and this one star Tiing Gading Bungalows was my favorite place by far. The host and hostess make this place special. They were so very helpful that my stay in Bali in Ubud ws greatly enhanced. Siti is Indonesian and is a warm, beautiful person and a terrific cook. (Try her white snapper with sweet and sour sauce or her chicken satay with fresh peanut sauce). She is also a good conversationalist. She also let me borrow her computer daily to do emails. Allen, her mate, is from the Netherlands and Canada and is a wonderful communicator and bright personality. He personally drove me to two museums about town. They also hooked me up with a motor scooter and driver to see a Hindu dance performance. Both nights I was there, I I talked with them into the wee hours of the night. When I left, I felt like I left two good friends behind! This is a place with a lot of aloha.
