Great service, super convenient hotel”
I only stayed for one day, and I wanted to be close to the Skyliner to the airport. The hotel is right at the Namboku exit of the Tabata station, which is very convenient. Just be careful not to go to the Kita exit, or you'll end up walking a long way. For food, it's easy to walk to Nishi-Nippori or Tabata (north exit). As for service, the front desk staff can speak Mandarin and English, and they are very nice, making communication easy. The hotel room is very new, clean, and has a beautiful city view. It's small but has everything you need. I only used the hotel bath, which can only accommodate two people at a time and requires reservation. It's a bit awkward to soak with someone you don't know, but it's very comfortable after soaking.

The distance from Tanabata Minami Station is within a five-minute walk. We booked a room for three people, but it actually had one double bed and two large single beds, which was very comfortable to stay in. The 11th floor has a view of the trains, and although you can hear the sound of the trains, the soundproofing is good enough that it doesn't disturb your sleep. We stayed here for the entire 9-day trip, and for the price, it was a hotel that we couldn't be picky about. The room size was okay, the bed was very comfortable, the water temperature and pressure were stable, the room was clean and didn't smell of smoke, the air conditioning worked well, and the soundproofing was good. Although there isn't much around Tanabata Minami Station, it's not far from Ueno or other places to transfer to, and it's a very quiet area.

I have stayed here for many days on more than one trip, and I have to say that while there are some challenges, this place can be a great value. Just make sure you paid a very low price to stay here. You basically have everything a traveler needs. A clean room, a personal bathroom, TV, fridge, (tiny) desk, hot water, and that's about it. The location is excellent for transportation. The station is literally right there. So much so that you hear every single trains rolling by. I don't mind it, but some may. Now, the cons. There is literally one conbini close to you, and it's not really that close. That is usually unheard of in Tokyo. But, this is actually the case. And the restaurants are very few and far between. You have to go up and down this very long staircase to get to and from the restaurants. So annoying. And if you have lots of, or very heavy luggage, good luck to you. The train station entrance is STAIRS ONLY. No escalators or elevators. A price I have to pay every time I stay here. So be forwarned. Get ready for some headaches, but at least you can save a lot of money.
