"Location was great. So close from Ton Sai Pier. Very clean. Big balcony. Feels very tropical. The only con is the shower. The water temp was not consistent. It was hot then luke warm. Staff was ok. Not over friendly."

P2 Wood Loft

"Nice, clean, modern hostel. We had one of the larger double rooms which has all you need - good shower, excellent bed (super comfortable mattress!!), small fridge, modern large TV, small storage area. All in all really great. Bathroom could be a bit bigger with some more storage but ok. As clearly advertised on their website and on Agora, the hotel does not offer meals or breakfast, and there are plenty of breakfast options close by. Location in the middle of the village does give you easy access to all - 7 eleven, restaurants, boat trips, bars... We did not experience any noise at night and had a really good sleep (though the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbours, but everybody was considerate so no problem). The staff even came to the ferry pier to pick us up and collected our luggage for us - we did not expect this - excellent service for a low cost ho(s)tel. Would definitely book again. Highly recommended!"

"We had the most amazing week staying here in Phi Phi. The hotel is just 2 minutes from the pier and easily found. The room was beautiful and always kept very clean with a nice balcony overlooking the gardens and pool. We got free big golf umbrellas to use during our stay (we were so excited having been drenched many times during our time in Thailand ha!) The staff were so helpful in the reception - especially the lovely man who gave us towels every morning. The pool was gorgeous with a few sun loungers round the edge and was never busy - although we never actually used it as we were so busy seeing the island everyday! We had breakfast included and the restaurant area is located looking right over Ton Sai Bay - stunning views every morning, we had to pinch ourselves! The food was fine - pancakes, fruit, cooked breakfast, cereal, yoghurt etc and a member of staff made omelettes and eggs to order. However for the price we payed, we were perhaps expecting slightly more but we really couldn't complain! The restaurant area is the Ton Sai Seafood restaurant in the evening and the hotel give you a discount voucher if you wish to eat there one evening. We did and the food was delicious! Over all an amazing stay, perfect for familys/couples. If we returned here when travelling again we would however stay elsewhere - simply to save money as you spend so little time in your hotel/guesthouse you really dont need to pay much to experience the wonders of Phi Phi. "The location is unbelievable, Ton Sai bay is 1-2 mins away, Loh Dalum beach is 4-5 away, and the stairs to the view point is 10-15 minutes away. Great to get around if you want to buy time. "

"this is one of the nicest hotels in ton sai bay and around, according to what we saw. there are some other nice ones. the bungalow was nice, and they added a bed for a friend of ours who decided to join us at the last minute for only 20 usd a night, breakfast included. the breakfast was very nice, in a very nice breakfast room. very pleasant in general, the pool is really nice. the beach is not so nice though. on the first day, it was muddy, the second day it was a lot better. we didn't really go to the beach there, i just checked it out. we went on different day trips every day. i am sure the beach on the other side of the island must be a lot better. the problem with ton sai bay is that there is a lot of trash and some of the bars and restaurants smell really bad, so as you walk by the smell hits you and it is terrible. this hotel is in a quieter area, which is nicer, but it is still close to the pier, which is where youĺl be going for dinner and stuff. next time, i think i'll stay on the other side of the island."

Viking Nature Resort
Ton Sai Bay,Ton Sai Bay - View on map
"Free long-tail boat transfer from Ton Sai Pier to the resort (located a bit off the main bay where the ferries arrive). Hotel's small beach faces the smaller island to the South. All tourist/tours info and bookings are available at the resort (although in town it's probably easier to find better bargains). We rented the superior room and really believe it was worth it. The wooden houses are beutifully decorated and you can't hear any of the noise coming from town. I believe the standard rooms, located closer to town (actually the whole resort is quite a large area) mught be noisier. The restaurant itself was not amazing, but it wasn't bad either. Location means prices are 20-50 baht higher than average. Breakfast is nice with enough to choose from. They offer a free "food sampling" every day at 7pm. Another great thing about this resort was that it was right next to beautiful Long beach, which also has a couple of little resorts of its own but is very quiet and clean (except the end, which is full of construction work). If you come to Viking expect a 20 min. walk to the edge of town (maybe 30m. to the "party beach"). You can also get a long tail during the day for 100-150baht/person. To come back you have to negotiate a boat in town, (up to 200baht/person). Essentially, this is a beutiful tucked away paradise not too far away from town, but far enough for the distance to become a bit of a hassle if you don't want to just stay at the hotel and manage your touring around Phi Phi from there. However, in place as touristy as this, it is a small price to pay. Great place, will definitely come back! "

Phi Phi Bayview Resort (SHA Plus+)
Ton Sai Bay,Ton Sai Bay - View on map
"The hotel is situated at the far end of Ton Sai bay and so is ideal if you want to be close enough to the action without having to be engulfed by it. Really enjoyed our stay at the Bay View because when you'd had enough of the bars and night life, you could slink off to your own little slice of the beach and chill at the hotel. Would definitely recommend the bay view, but will warn that Phi Phi itself has already been spoiled by the inundation of tourists. Felt a lot like Kuta in Bali. Hassled at every step. "

Mama Beach Residence
Ton Sai Bay,Ton Sai Bay - View on map
"I recommend staying in a hotel on Ton Sai Bay as this is quieter at night, you have easy access to the beach, and you can easily walk to wherever it is you are trying to go! My friends and I stayed at Mama Beach Residence on Ton Sai Bay and it was an excellent, more budget friendly option. One concern that I had prior to my trip was many reviews for lots of hotels said that the rooms were not that great. On Phi Phi, you are not going to find a luxury hotel unless you want to pay big money for it. I highly recommend Mama Beach Residence as it was only a 5-10minute walk from Ton Sai Pier, we had our own private beach, which not many Phi Phi Island hotels have, it was quiet so we could sleep at night, and we were a quick 15-20min walk from the party beach of Loh Dalum Bay. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean, and we had a nice breakfast!"

Paradise Pearl Bungalow
Ton Sai Bay,Ton Sai Bay - View on map
"I did not arrange for pick-up and arrived at the Phi Phi Pier on a heavily rainy day. I called Paradise Pearl several times but the mobile signal is really poor on the island. I waited for about 10 minutes and finally found the hotel long tail boat. I was first assigned a first-floor room but the restroom door was jammed. Called the reception and they switched a second-floor family room with ocean view for me which was a wonderful upgrade. Pros: Great great great location at long beach with beautiful view and clean ocean compared to Ton Sai Bay; Dedicated decorations all around and quiet surroundings without too many tourists interruption; Very helpful staffs especially at the reception if you need any help. Cons: Not very convenient location, and need to take long tail boat (100B) to get to Ton Sai Bay if you don't want to walk for 20 min, and there will be no long tail boat service on a windy day or after 4PM everyday; Not a good place to stay if you are going for night life; Very poor cell signal around (maybe some strong spots somewhere); No free wifi around (not a con actually 'cause it's the same for most other hotels on Phi Phi Island) and you have to pay about 3B/min; No swimming pool. Overall, I highly recommend Paradise Pearl for a get-away vacation and I will definitely come back and stay here if I have a chance."

More about Ton Sai Bay

Whether arriving from mainland Krabi or Phuket, Ton Sai Bay is the standard point of entry. It fronts a crescent-shaped beach on an isthmus that connects either side of Phi Phi Don. Aside from resort employees and a small contingency of fishermen, most of the people here are international tourists. Most of the resorts and hotels in Ton Sai Bay fall into budget and mid-range categories, and they’re convenient on the first or last night of a stay in the archipelago.

Ton Sai Bay is an isthmus connecting the butterfly-like wings of Phi Phi Don. Resorts and hotels on Tonsai Bay are some of the busiest on the island, and they come with the best service and facilities. The best have unobstructed views of limestone cliffs including Ton Sai Tower. Climbers who reach the top can see all the way to Phi Phi Ley.

Virtually everyone here is connected to tourism, whether its hotel staff or international visitors. The major accommodation district has excellent facilities including restaurants, Phi Phi Hospital and laid-back beach bars. During the day, the harbor teems with life. Tourists can go yachting, snorkeling and kayaking anywhere in the area. Local tour operators lead multi-day diving excursions to deep waters, with divers staying on live-aboard boats.

Koh Phi Phi is a popular island-hopping destination, and overnight guests share the bay with daytrip visitors during the morning and afternoon. Ton Sai Village is the bay’s bustling commercial heart, and it’s a pedestrians-only area. The village stays busy with tourists until about 14:30 when the last ferry day-trippers back to the mainland. The pace of life changes after this, leaving the remaining visitors plenty of space to enjoy the sunset and laid-back energy on the beaches.
