Amazing stay”
Got upgraded upon arrival, which was a great surprise! The restaurant inside the hotel served delicious food. The staff also tries to accommodate as much as possible! Overall, definitely enjoyed my stay.

Chosen this hotel as it is next building from NYU Shanghai ”
The main reason for choosing Tong Mao is because of it close proximity to NYU Shanghai. About 10 min walk to Century Mall, a large mall with few subway lines and convenient access to many locations. Housekeeping is great and we were given a corner room that is quiet and comfortable large. Staffs were helpful and cheaper than most of the other branded hotels. Guests can use the gym and indoor pool for free although we didn't get a chance to use them. Apparently there is a North Korean restaurant on level 1. Not sure how was the food. Given the opportunity will come back again.

Strategic location but old hotel”
On the first day of arrival, there was no air conditional. We rang to the service counter to get it fixed. But it happened again on the next day. It is a strategic location but the facilities are old. I would suggest the staffs should check the facilities such as AC, TV and so before check ins.

Bed selction not given accordingly”
A couple traveling and order for a queen bed when booking. But the hotel,they change the bed to double! Did mention had request for queen bed but the hotel receptionist claimed they have the right to change the conditions! If it is so why the hotel include double or queen bed selection at the first place? If we do know earlier is a double beds will not stay in this hotel!

Ok hotel for access to businesses nearby”
Receptionists are awful. Even if English is not spoken, at least have a smile and make an attempt. 10 minute walking distance from Exit gate 6 of Century Avenue. The access to subway was good. Has a good North Korean restaurant, was ok to try food their. The breakfast was good had a good spread.

A comfortable business hotel”
This is a business hotel right opposite Shanghai Futures Exchange building in Pudong District. It lives up its 4* rating in almost every aspect - staff, facilities, amenities, cleanliness of the guest room, etc.. I was accompanying two senior citizens for a leisure tour in Shanghai and the reason we chose a hotel in the financial district of Pudong over one in the more touristic Puxi districts is that the hotel rates tend to be lower and it's closer to Pudong Airport. However, it turned out that we had to rely more on taxis, as the nearest metro station is 1km away and my older travel company refused to walk so far (though the metro station is on Line 2 with direct connection to both Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport, as well as various touristic attractions such as Oriental Pearl Tower, Nanjing Road pedestrian street, People's Square, Mdm Tussaud's, Jing-An Temple, etc.). Also, as the location is a bit far away from shopping districts, we even had difficulty in having a quick fast food meal within walking distance.

Everything was great during my stay in Tong Mao. Hotel is clean and friendly staffs. However, if you are looking for cab, I would suggest you to walk outside and stop one instead of relying to hotel concierge because they will increase the price 2-3 times higher than the usual especially if they know you are a foreigner who don' speak mandarin. Happened to me when I wanted to grab a taxi to SNIEC from the hotel. They charged me around RMB80 while the next day I stopped a taxi outside the hotel, it only costed me RMB22 to the same destination. Apart from that, I have nothing to complain about this hotel.

Stayed for a month with no problem”
i came in this hotel on dec 10th and checked out on jan 10th - a complete one month stay. during my entire stay i had no issues relating to either house-keepong, room service, internet, tv, bath-room, lighting or anything. the stay was very smooth and i really liked the hotel. in future, if i will be coming back to shanghai again on a business trip, my first preference of stay will be tong mao hotel.

Hotel with good location and value for money”
As I was attending a conference at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, the location of this hotel was convenient. The price was also reasonable. Breakfast was not included in my room charge but one morning I added it. Breakfast was very local so next time I would most probably go to Starbucks which has a shop nearby

The Tong Mao exceeded my expectations. For the cost that i paid for the 3 night I was in Shanghai, I certainly received greater value. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and wont feel sorry for doing so.

Excellent value, clean and efficient”
the location is quite good for tradeshows at the sniec (5-10 min taxi, 15-20 rmb), and also for shopping at the market below science museum (10-15 min walk). then a 5-min walk gets you to metro line 2 station at century ave. the buffet breakfast is good, not great (could use more variety) but good. free internet at the room (wired) and wifi at the lobby. money exchange with a reasonably good rate and no commission. business center charges as outrageous as everywhere else, but at least they're quick and efficient (printing, scanning, copying, etc.). the hotel and rooms quite clean, good shower and separate large bathtub, and very solicit service. definitely a very good value for the price.

Good location and ok hotel - could be way better”
it is an above average business hotel. all the facilities are there, but these are not taken care of very well. so hotel has all the things to qualify as 4 star, but in terms of service it lacks. the location is good and rooms are comfortable. the service is not that great. it is just ok. good if you want to go for some expo in the expo ground in shanghai. there was an AC unit failure one night and they just said a plain sorry when i asked for room being too warm. If my budget woudl have allowed, i would have rather stayed in a better hotel. it is not a value for money hotel for sure. but yeah, facilities like massage and all are available. if you have to go for work and just come back to hotel and no time to go out, this could be an option, as there are bars and massage available in the hotel.

Comfortable and clean room”
The hotel is just opposite Shanghai Stock Exchange building. The surrounding is quiet and not much activities. Just a short distance via taxi, you may go to some mall with all kind of restaurant. I have requested an iron and iron board during my stay in the hotel for ironing my clothing in the room but the reception mention that please call again tomorrow morning at 10.00am as currently we are running out of the item and you may need to be in the waiting list. A fast request in the reception the next morning and managed to get my request done. As the hotel is not international chain, therefore the services level might need to improve as currently the hotel staff don't really speak much english

Comfortable and memorable stay at Hotel Tong Mao..”
The hotel is location near century avenue, metro station and Science and Technology park. The staff were helpful and even currency could be exchanged withouit any hassle. Breakfast was not provided. It should be included in the room rent. The room and bathroom were clean. The TV cannels were mainly in chinese, few standard english channels can be included without much cost.

This hotel, near metro Line 4 (Exit2), It’s very comfortable. When it’s raining, there’s umbrellas rental but staff don't really wanna speak English. I think that I should learn Chinese if I come back to Shanghai.
