Simple hotel but huge problem with parking”
This hotel is cheap, rooms are old and simple. But if you drive, you will have a hard time finding parking nearby.

A Bargain and great value for money”
Location; good food and closeness to markets etc
This is a great little place to stay - it is old and there is no lift and the rooms are in need of decoration BUT it is not expensive and as a transit hotel just a stone's throw from the Myanmar/Thai border it is very good value for money. The small restuarant on the ground floor offers a good range of beverages and Thai and western food at remarkably reasonable prices. The staff have always been delightful and helpful. But do not expect luxury - it is after all a transit hotel with people coming and going all the time. It is clean and there is a choice of air-condioned rooms or rooms with fan. The rooms at the front overlooking the main road are the best value.

Overnight”
The main advantage of the Top North Hotel is that it is very near the border for people wanting to cross from Thailand to Myanmar.
I arrived late in Maesai and left first thing in the morning. I needed a convenient place to sleep, and the Top North Hotel provided me with what I wanted for a reasonable price. I was not there long enough to note any other issues. I might mention that I was put on the third floor, and there is no lift, so if anyone has trouble with stairs, that could be an issue. I did not have any food at the hotel, so please ignore my score on the food question above!

A comfortable stop over”
Comfortable bed, hot shower, close to the boarder.
I have stayed at top North several times during visa runs. It's super close to the border and eat to get to. The. Eds are comfortable, it's clean and the showers are hot. The one thing I don't like I'd that not all windows face outside.

There were no problems on arrival.”
Its location, price and ease of crossing the border into Myanmar
This is far from a luxury hotel - it is old, cheap and very much in need of refurbishment - but that was not a problem for us as we wanted somewhere close to the Myanmar border at a reasonable price. There is a small dining room-cum-restaurant in the foyer where breakfast may be ordered at a reasonable charge as well as other food during the day. There is no lift and if you given a room on the upper floor, the stairs are a little daunting and quite steep - so for the infirm or elderly with joint problems it is NOT the place to stay. But for the less discerning traveller wanting a cheap hotel very close to the border and for shopping it is ideal.

Central, freezing room, staff never smiled ”
Central, right next to Burma border, everything walking distance
The staff were unfriendly and never smiled. We were put on the 4th floor which seemed to be the coldest floor. It was colder than outside. The blankets were thin, and they said they couldn't give extra blankets so we had to buy some. I booked for two nights and the lady got up me for staying the second night. I had to show her again that I had already paid for the second night. It seemed the higher floor you were in, the dodgier it was. The place is right where the action is, so everything was in walking distance. That's the only good thing about this place.
