Gem of a place”
From the bus you really just walk a lonely path up a really steep hill (turning right at the fork), thank goodness Google Maps knew it! Definitely send your bags ahead from the train station. We had an outdoor bath on our balcony. It was covered so you really can't see much of the outside. We just rinsed off well before the outdoor bath and did our hair washing etc in the bath house where it was indoors. They have indoor and outdoor onsen, and a toilet and sink in our room. We chose this place as it's right across the street from Onsen Yuryo, which has beautiful indoor and outdoor baths, along with a restaurant where you BBQ at the table we highly recommend. You can walk there in your yukata. Also they have a free shuttle bus into town which we used with our luggage to get to back to the station. Dinner was shabu shabu, then sukiyaki, and udon the 3rd night. Different breakfast for first and second mornings, both delicious with lots of items. Loved the sake and beer station!

A fantastic hotel with delicious food”
I was more than happy with my stay at this hotel. It was easy to access from the Tonosawa Rail Station. The facilities were clean and well maintained. My room had a private outdoor tub, and it was very relaxing. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were both fantastic. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling through Hakone.

Location is very near to Hakone-Yumoto station, up on a hill providing privacy & quietness for relaxation. As mention in other reviews, taking a taxi from station is the correct decision. Once we are luggage free, it was easy to navigate around. Dinner was fantastic, food was plenty with free flow of beverage including beer! Ryokan has indoor & outdoor onsen, great for relaxation after full day of activities. Breakfast was another great meal.

Hotel was hard to locate but we enjoyed our stay”
I start with a tip for travellers booking this hotel. When you leave Tonosawa train station, DO NOT go down the stairs all the way to the street! Go along the pathway till you get to a fork, and go up the hill! There is no sign to point to the hotel from the train station. Avoid big/heavy luggage if you are coming by train. Once you reach the hotel, you will not want to leave. We liked the private outdoor onsen but missed having a proper shower stall. We did not take any meals here as they do not serve vegetarian meals.

Wonderful ryokan/onsen experience! ”
The Ichiniyu Shinkan was amazing and is great for a couple/romantic getaway in the Hakone hotsprings area! It was a fantastic value for a room with a private outdoor hot spring tub, and dinner and breakfast was included. The dinner was a sumptuous feast (sashimi boat for two + shabushabu + at least 5 appetizers + all-you-can-drink alcohol on tap) and the traditional Japanese-style breakfast was delicious and a fun experience. The private balcony bath in our room was a bit of a tight fit for two people, but was very clean and refills automatically with hot spring water (plus the balcony has a great view of the woods and mountains!). The public onsen bathing area is also spacious and clean. The only downside is that the ryokan is up a large hill from the Hakone-Yumoto station, so it’s best to take a taxi to get there.

high standard, nice food, friendly staff”
Really big room. The dinner and breakfast are Japanese style, fantastic. 5 mins walk to train station. You can arrange lugguage delivery at Hakone Yumoto train station to hotel then you can go for the round trip around Hakone without burden. Only way back from hotel to Hakone Yumoto need to carry the lugguage. But the steps are most downwards then and there's slope at right side. It's not so difficult for lugguage carrying. No free shuttle bus to Hakone Yumoto. Train is the best solution.

Serene and friendly with great food”
The only pity was that I could not stay longer. I stayed in a delightful Japanese style room with private onsen bath and had a wonderful evening meal with a generous variety of foods to try, including fresh tofu, the best I have ever had. Breakfast was excellent too, and very substantial. The hotel is in a quiet mountainside location surrounded by natural forest, but only 5 minutes walk from Tonosawa train station where trains run every 15 minutes to other stations around Hakone, and one stop away from the main station Hakone-Yumato.

Had a awesome time at the hotel, got the Japanese Twin Style Room With Private Open-Air Bath, it was money well spent. Traditional Japanese breakfast was included, a great bonus. Make sure to ask your hotel about the hakone free pass, very cheap way to travel around in hakone region.

Comfortable and convenient”
The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel was always delicious, and the portion sizes were very generous. The staff at the ryokan speak excellent English and were extremely helpful with giving us directions and suggesting day trips. The ryokan is located very close to the Hakone Yumoto train station, but the walk is a bit steep, especially with luggage. We took a very worthwhile 5 minute taxi ride that cost us 730 yen. Overall, this is a lovely facility and I highly, highly recommend it!!

Nice hotel with good service”
Line Hakone @Tonosawa Station within 10mins walking along the hill path. The front door is behind a screen which is not easy to find... We near-missed it twice until a staff showed up and led us to the reception. The hotel is a house with 4 or 5 floors. We stayed at first floor, 2 Japanese style rooms, served with Japanese snacks and tea. Good dinner and breakfast, nice staff and comfy room as well as the great onsen.

The hotel service is great. The location is perfect. You can go to the forest adventure just 5min walk. The room is large with a private bath (hot spring). Also, the room service is good. The hotel is located on the mountain. To reach the hotel place you have to take a taxi from Yumoto Hakone station-750 JY.

love the private mini onsen! enjoy the shabu shabu dinner and enjoy japanese style breakfast! location is close to Hakone Yumoto train station (took a short taxi ride (recommend with luggage), otherwise it's about 10mins walk from Tounosawa train station but with lots of stairs or steep slope). room is big, comfortable! we enjoy our stay!

Beautiful and quiet”
Beautiful walk to the inn from the Tonosawa Station. They let us drop our bags with them before the check in time so we could tour around Hakone. Unfortunately, they did not ask us if we would like to reserve a table for dinner so we missed that opportunity and ate dinner at the other inn nearby which was very good as well. Breakfast was phenomenal - we stayed at several inns and ryokans - this was by far the best! We loved our stay.

Spacious room, friendly location and value for money”
The room was big and nicer than expected. Though it required a bit of climbing, the location was very easy to locate as it was just a station away from Hakone- Yumoto station. (Tounosawa station) I did the Hakone round trip loop, then arrived and relaxed at the hotel. Food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner was splendid. Total value for money in my opinion, as my room included a private bath too!

Awesome personal touch”
Stay was great. We stayed for 2 days and Restaurant staff an elderly gentlemen was so attentive and make sure we have different sets of dinner for the 2 nites. Location is near tounosawa station which is convenient and there's a nice hike trail to a nice temple jus next to the hotel
