“ Location vs. Condition”
The absolute best feature of this hotel is its location. For any traveler prioritizing ease of access, this spot is ideal and makes navigating Fukuoka effortless. However, guests should manage their expectations regarding the rooms. While clean, the overall appearance is noticeably old. The dated feel was made worse by the lighting: I found the yellow lights in the room dull. It seemed like the it was put there on purpose, perhaps to hide how old the interior is. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a bit of a musty smell, especially in the bathroom. It faded after a bit, but it definitely showed that the building is old and needs some updating. This hotel is perfect for the budget-conscious, solo traveler whose primary concern is being centrally located. If you can overlook the aged aesthetics, the convenience makes it a functional base camp. If modern, bright, and fresh rooms are a priority, you might want to look elsewhere.

“Very good”
Overall, the hotel is good and the location is very convenient. The room itself is fine. However, there are a few drawbacks: • The bed is too narrow. Even as a small Asian couple, we felt cramped and had to sleep very close together, which made it uncomfortable. The bed is more suitable for a single guest. • The air conditioning is centrally controlled and switches to heater mode during winter, so it cannot be adjusted individually. When turned on, the room became too warm and stuffy. We solved this by turning it off and opening the window instead. • The breakfast is very delicious, but about almost all of the menu remained the same throughout our 6-night stay, which eventually became repetitive. Despite these points, the room quality is acceptable. The hotel is located very close to the Hakata station, and there is a FamilyMart convenience store directly across the street, which makes the location very convenient.

“Had a nice stay”
I had a pleasant stay at Toyo Hotel. The room was adequately spacious, and I appreciated that housekeeping cleaned it daily and consistently replaced the bedsheets. It would’ve been nicer if there were at least two pillows instead of just one, and I wished they provided bottled water like other hotels do. The location was super convenient—close to Hakata Station and the bus terminal, making it easy to travel within and outside the city. There were plenty of restaurants and konbinis nearby, which made dining and grabbing essentials hassle-free. The weather in May was quite unpredictable, so I was thankful that the hotel offered umbrellas when it rained. Overall, I’d definitely consider staying here again if I return to Fukuoka.

“Excellent”
The room was small, as it's normal in Japan, but clean and with all the usual amenities. The aspiration fan in the bathroom wasn't very efficient so the room would get quite humid. Moreover, despite the room (and floor) being non smoking, there was a lingering smell of smoke, I'm not sure where it came from. The real downside was that the room had a window facing an office (very close) and you could block the view only with a sliding wooden panel (no curtains) so if you wanted a bit of privacy you couldn't have any daylight. Breakfast was good and staff very polite, excellent location near the train station.

“Nice hotel near transportation hub”
Toyo hotel is a business hotel near bus station and hakata train station. The bus station going to airport is one block away from hotel. Also near restaurants and drug store where you can buy a lot of stuffs. Breakfast is good; filling but same everyday. Room is small. We put our luggage outside the door of the comfort room. Bed is double size; they are kind enough to provide extra pillow when I requested it. There’s no free drinking water but you can purchase it at vendo machines inside the hotel. Toiletries and robe are provided so you dont need to bring.
