Standard room is very tight, in the bathroom man can't sit on the wc with normal position. It was very uncomfortable. Our door was in front of the staff room, they are very noise at night just like the corridor too. The accomodation location was good, in the neighbour there was an breakfastplace,where a meals and coffees were very delicious.

Clean and new hotel”

Hotel room is big! The location is fews stop away from Amsterdam Centraal. I love the toilet in the room, clean and big!

Close to centre, and clean ”

2 main issues, the double bed is actually just 2 single beds pushed together with 2 separate single duvets. The mattress toppers kept sliding sideways off the bed. The other issue was the shower couldn't be put on full as the drainage was rubbish and would overspill if you left the water running too long. In spite of this the hotel was clean, it was simple to check in and out, we had breakfast that was plentiful and tasty, the location is just outside of the noise and action so you get peace but are close enough to get back when ready. There's also a fantastic restaurant just up the road. Box Sociaal. Highly recommended

location great, shared facilties excellent, bathroom disapointing”

bedroom was disappointing. I know it was single and tiny - not really a problem. bathroom was poorly planned. banged my head n a shelf when brushing teeth. hairdryer could fall into basin or toilet and eth cover was loose so it was an electrical hazard. breakfast EXCELLENT, and restaurant area excellent.. I felt overall it was over-priced though

Just what we needed ”

So, the self-check is a bit of a nuisance, but there was someone nearby to help if we got stuck. And the rooms were pretty small (at least the single and twin rooms were).... But... Everything was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and helpful, it was a pleasant walk from the city centre (I guess around 20 minutes). My friends upgraded to a luxury room and that was very nice and much bigger! For what we paid, I was very satisfied and happy. It was a great base for a fun-packed weekend when you don't plan on spending all your time in your hotel room. I'd come back!

Amazing hotel”

Recently refurbished and looks great. The staff are very kind and welcoming. The room was lovely, we were very happy once we saw the hotel and the shower was amazing. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough, we will definitely stay there again.

Fabulous hotel!”

Always a pleasure to stay here! Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. location is great, nice area and only a short walk into the center, facing the Zoo and nice cafe next door (coffee & bites)... did not have the breakfast included with room this time but in the past have and it was great! The hotel has just finished renovation a couple of weeks ago and the new rooms look amazing and cant wait to try them out! also new restaurant has opened however we did not manage to have lunch or dinner there but looked great and i am sure it is just as good as everything else at the hotel. Me and my partner shared the Standard double which is bigger than the smaller double rooms which we have stayed in the past but both rooms are just as good and are just what you need when staying in Amsterdam.

Photos misleading on site. I've seen shoeboxes bigger than the room we had. Good location, nice staff but just not worth the money.

Great location, however not comfortable stay. ”

location of the hotel is great for the price as the train goes straight to central. However, the rooms are extremely small even though we booked a larger room. We booked a double bed & were provided with two single beds joined together out of which one was super hard & the other was squeaky and slantedly soft! My entire shoulder was in pain the next morning. The bathroom was extremely uncomfortable & small; the pot was positioned in such an awkward position infront of a wall that even our legs wouldn't fit. Upon complaining, we were shifted to a double bed room which was smaller in size but with a way better layout. It was in the basement with no access to a lift & a lot of noise from rooms above; people walking, flushing toilets etc. There was no staff to take our luggage up the stairs upon checking out. My husband is not allowed to lift weight bc of a stomach operation! Room service cleanliness was bad; dirty cups were in still in the room the next day. Will never stay here again.

The staff was very friendly and it's good location, 8 minutes by tram to central. Attis zoo right opposite. BUT the rooms are a lot more smaller than on the pictures and the toilets are very very small.

In general nice and friendly hotel, but in my opinion overrated and overpaid. The pictures only show their very BEST rooms. Apart from the hotel "main building", the hotel uses an adjacient house (built together) behind the main building with obviously much smaller rooms. Our room on 3rd (roof) floor was VERY small, very dark (apart from the tiny window they painted on wall in dark color!!! Unbelieveable!!). VERY hot at night as the roof heated up during the day. No Air Condition! So you better ask for a room in the MAIN BUILDING = rooms 1-8 on each floor. Also they have rooms on the ground floor (basement) which are half under-ground. I would point out - upon reservation - not having this kind of room. Lobby is very nice. Free coffee and lemon water. Free luggage storage room. Breakfast is EUR 15.00 per person = robbery, as just next door you get it for slightly more then half of the price. Location is excellent, rather quite (except of the monkeys in the zoo just opposite the street). Bike rental in hotel rather expensive. Next door = better conditions. Not to forget one thing: Most room doors are jammed. You can't open and close them without slamming the door and making noise. This is OK during daytime. Very nice if you have a group of youngsters on the same floor coming home at 3am... Hotel management: Please fix these room doors!!! All in all, the hotel is overrated and overpriced for what it offers and considering the said disadvantages.

I like this hotel cos it is located at a little quiet area but yet it is very convenient. The little cafe next to the hotel has great sandwiches. Dont miss that out!

A glass half full”

I'd read other reviews and knew that the room would be small - it was! - and possibly noisy - so I brought ear plugs! Noise wasn't too bad, even though I was at the front facing the street. My main complaint was the grubby carpet. Made the room feel a bit grubby. Was very impressed by the reception desk staff member, who went out of his way to help when the airport shuttle I'd booked didn't arrive.
