Thank You Tradewinds”
I would go back again, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a cheap accomodation to take a bath and sleep . When people choose a hotel like this that means they wont spend their precious californian time in their room. We wanted to visit Los Angeles , not just watch TV , or swim in the pool in the hotel. For that kind of needs, the Tradewinds Hotel is a perfect choice. Do not expect a new and luxury five stars appartement! (For that kind pay more.) But if you want to take a shower in hot water, lay down in a clean room at late night, sleep well, and start your tour in the early morning this is your hotel. Thank you for the kind service in the bar, and delicious freshly baked hot muffins and great coffe. Our only forgetable difficulties were with the magnet keys, many times decided not to open our door.
exceeded expectation”
we needed a room for eight hours while awaiting our midnight LAX flight departure with our two year old child. despite bad reviews this place has had we found the staff helpful and friendly and our suite clean, well appointed and well maintained. there was no sign of poor housekeeping, bed bugs, drug addicts, rude staff or other problems sighted by some reviewers. of course the least expensive airport hotel does not attract a posh clientele and there may be loud music coming from the bar, but inner bedrooms of their spacious two room suites are insulated from outside noise. all in all this place is good value and exceeded our expectation
No gust allowed ”
He waited until after I was zeroed paid and check then two then inform me as my guest was answering which is a family member that they were not allowed to enter the premises because they were residing in California or Los Angeles to be cute correct such a inconvenience and so disgusting the person was so rude and I think she was a manager at that
Safety needs to be stepped up a few notches”
First and most importantly, the staff were AMAZING!!!!!! I could have requested another room but my daughter asked me not to. The door to our main floor room had only 1 lock and between the door and the door frame there was a gap. Too easy to break into. The bathroom window had no lock and could be opened from the outside no problem. As for sleeping, the bed was so comfortable, although very loud atmosphere, but thats expected when it's a hostel and near the pool and bar. Overall, the staff were more than wonderful, the shuttle to airport was fast and curtious. Had the best time EVER with my daughter though, and that's what life is all about. Hats off to the staff!!!!
Excellent location but that's where it ends”
Great location near the airport but that's where the goodness ends for this one. The Tradewinds Hotel/hostel is located in the same building and managed by the same staff as Backpacker's Paradise Hostel. So don't expect a hotel environment or service there, just cleaner suites for hotel booking and that comes after paying almost the same as hotel. Initially, I was sent to a male dormitory. Confused, I checked and came back again to reception showing my Agoda booking details, it took another receptionist to dig out and assign me to a single suite correctly as per booking. The corridor is surrounded by not so decent looking occupants, I noticed 2 sticky notes on different doors giving notice of non-payment to tenants. At time for check out, I was given my deposit back with no hassle but another lady at next counter was shouting why each time her deposit mysteriously gets cut due to consumption from minibar that she herself never remembered happening. So choose responsibly.
good for catch up early flight”
The hotel has 24/7 free shuttle service to/from LAX which is very convenience for us to catch up the early flight on the other day. The bad things we dont like is Wi-fi is not working in the room, its work only at the lobby. There was a bar on 1floor and they played a LOUD music till midnight which is very annoying and make us hard to sleep.
Good value for money”
it's amazing how many people expect a 5 star quality when they are paying so little, this is one of the cheapest hotels out there. Neighborhood was fine, several shops nearby, never felt in danger (like other reviews). This hotel def attracts a younger crowd, backpackers, party hostel ambiance... And they even give u a great blueberry muffin for breakfast!
A great hotel ruined by clueless staff”
I was collected at the airport in the free shuttle which runs continuously and looks like a limo inside. As I had arrived before 2 pm I was advised that I must wait. That was fine but I was annoyed when at 2.30 the staff checked in 3 parties before asking me. Half way through the staff member was distracted by someone bringing her car back . So she disappeared and another girl served a few others then helped me. When I got to my room the tv was not working so they said they'd send someone . After 3 hours no show so I called again and was offered to move rooms but she'd call me back( which she never did) On the second day my keycard wouldn't open the door which involved a 200 m walk balk to the desk . When it happened the second time the staff member was so rude. I told her I wanted to complain and she replied " do I look like a manager" I also said I would report to Agoda and she said she didn't care . Her name Jasmin. It's a great hotel with big rooms but the staff? Shocking !
Good value, not bad for a night.”
Cheap accomodation, lot of extras surpisingliy and handy location for LAX travellers. But could do better with cleanliness and no tea/coffee making facillity in room. And lot of dodgy people around, even saw cops interrogating one guy at reception.
Okey”
The "hostel" was okey for one night. I didnt feel very good at that place. They might have an airport shuttle. But I wrote them like 3 or more times for the pick up. I didnt got an answer and it wasnt anybody at the airport to pick me up. I took a taxi which was quiet expensive. I dont really recommend that place but its close to the LAX international airport.
Get what you pay for”
I did just a quick stay over here while waiting for a flight. On the bright side, the staff were friendly enough, the hotel has a lot built into it (pool, games, bars), and it was close to the airport. That being said, the area around the hotel is extremely sketchy and the crowd that gathers there seemed to be largely the same. The room was nice and big , and had a well-equipped mini-bar, but it smelled funky and didn't include basic amenities like soap and shampoo.
Disaster”
Tradewinds Airport Hotel is not a hotel. It's a combination of a hostel and a motel, and it's a total mess. There are pieces missing from the walls, rooms are being fumigated for bed bugs, and the whole place is in very bad shape. The photos on the agoda site are not representative of the state of the rooms. The only good thing I can say is that the staff at the desk were very pleasant and helpful.
Excellent”
Very sketch place, but cheap and definitely worth it for the money. Facilities were much better than expected, interior and exterior were clean although defintely gave off that "motel" vibe. Staff were curt but did their job properly. With a prepaid reservation by Agoda, I had to provide an additional $35 deposit, which I paid via credit card, and was promptly refunded by the same card within 3 business days. Food options around are limited to fast food joints within a 10 minute walk. It's about a 25 minute walk to the Forum, and would recommend taking Lyft/Uber back as the neighborhood is somewhat sketch at night.
Affordable, cozy”
Smells like alot of weed and airplanes all night long but would stay again. Front desk was always nice from beginning to end. Good price too
We have been to this Hotel on 3 prior occasions, and it keeps getting better! There's a free shuttle from LAX. ”
The rooms are spacious & comfortable, the pool area is great, they offer free tea, coffee & popcorn 24/7, and they have a free champagne party with buffet food every afternoon from 6pm. Great cheap restaurant too!
If your local find another”
i wanted to like this place ..i really did ..seemed cool with all the extra tours and cool bar etc ...but I got greeted with where are you from ?? we dont rent to locals ....because they cause problems ..they reluctantly rented me a room (because im Hispanic? ) Then I get to a room with a clogged toilet .....had 2 call 3 times for them to repair it ....tv remote didnt work .also had alot of issues with wifi service ...one period was off for 4 hrs ??? ...was just a mediocre stay ...room was ok for price but didnt make me feel wanted there ..
It was ok for the price ”
Pros that the shuttle is free to take to the airport and back , they have a pool but it sucks cause there’s a lot of shady people in the property and if you have your spouse beware every guy in that hotel will try and talk to her when your not around and knock on your room door . Cons are they don’t tell you the drinks in the fridge are not free and charge you when your leaving , check the beds before actually staying because they have bed bugs only good thing is they will change your room ASAP.
Very good”
So worth the price, the room was really nice they had tons of vending machines for different things and a couple bars by the pool as well as a pizza place. The employees aren't the kindest or most patient but if you're respectful to them you get what you need.
our stay was great and staff are very friendly.”
hotel was close to airport and staff were very friendly. although it is just a walk up 2 floor motel, it is worth the money you pay for. they just need to improve on the smell outdoors. strong smell of cat poop!
Airport stopover hotel”
Works well if you just want a cheap option with free shuttle. No frills hotel close to the airport with a hostel feel.
