Convenient location for travel on Ferry to Rottnest
Great position overlooking the Swan River. We stayed in a room that had a sliding door as entry so could not open window or door for fresh air. Had to have air conditioning on. No Security screens on door of any value. Clean and plenty of options to eat nearby.

much need to be done
The living and bedrooms are poorly lighted, my 5 year old grandchild wants to go home , even though we were on holiday and she was with her parents in the same room. The interior is poor, kitchen not suitable to cook n rusty kettle.

Cockroaches
The first night I got a room on the second floor. I was sitting at a table after unpacking all my baggages. Suddenly I saw one cockroach climbing on the wall. It was about 6 cms long. What!!! I was so shocked. I calmed down a little bit and opened the manual of the hotel on the table. There were another. This time very fat. At first I tried to understand and accept it, thinking maybe this is a cultural thing in Australia that people see cockroaches even in expensive hotels. However, after seeing several cockroaches, I couldn't stay at the room. I repacked all my baggages all rushed out of the room. I'd taken a couple of pictures of the cockroaches to show the manager. He didn't need to see it -- actually he was disgusted at watching a picture of them even. He apologized and then moved my room to the third floor(the room was the same size but had two beds). He also offered one free breakfast from the hotel restaurant -- that one is continental, and it means bacons, cereals and so on. Even after the movement to a new room, as you might expect, I couldn't sleep well that night. I haven't seen any cockroaches since I moved the room. However, I was really scared if I'd see another; I knew that if you have seen one cockroach in a house then it means there is a high probability there are hundreds more. I didn't like continental breakfast so I haven't had any breakfast there. Yet, I had a few meals there. When I checked out, I mentioned this and he took out two meals that I had and made them on the house instead(approximately 50 AUD worth). Overall, it was okay how the staff reacted to this(apology and quick room movement) but not hugely satisfactory -- their initial apology and one free breakfast seemed too small. However, I was satisfied with the new room on the third floor, because I didn't see any more cockroaches.

Dissappointing.
I trawled the internet to find a suitable hotelin Fremantle to meet up with my family. The Tradewinds looked like a really nice place with a family suite to suit my needs. Whilst the staff were helpfull and attentive, the room was extramely dissapointing. It was like steping back to the 60's. Probably not been decorated since then anyway. The rooms were small and sparsely furnished with tires and aged furniture. The bathroom fixtures were old and loose with a glass shower screen flopping over the bath. Considering that this was the second most expensive hotel on the list iwould have expected a considerably higher standard. The 'kitchenette' was tired of limited use for a one night stay and the fridge doubles as the minibar. Sadly the pictures of the hotel are much better than the actual experience.
