Armenia uses the Armenian dram (AMD) as its official currency. Cash is widely used, but electronic payments are increasingly common in urban areas.

- Payment methods: Cash is accepted everywhere; credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard) are widely accepted in Yerevan and major cities. Smaller towns and markets may require cash.
- Contactless payments: Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted at some retailers and restaurants, mainly in Yerevan. Alipay is not widely supported.
- ATMs: Readily available in cities and airports. Most accept international cards, but some rural areas may lack ATM access.
- Currency exchange: Available at banks, licensed exchange offices, and airports. Exchange rates may be less favorable at airports.
- Foreign currency restrictions: Large cash transactions (over AMD 3 million) may require documentation. Payments in foreign currency are generally not accepted.
- Cash import/export limits: Up to AMD 2,000,000 (approx. USD 5,000) or equivalent in foreign currency can be brought in or taken out without declaration. Amounts above must be declared to customs.
- Transaction fees: Foreign card transactions may incur a 1–3% surcharge. ATMs may charge additional withdrawal fees.
- Payment issues: Inform your bank before travel to avoid card blocks. Carry some cash for small purchases and rural areas.

- Regulations: The Central Bank of Armenia oversees currency and payment regulations. Check for updates before travel.
