Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) sits about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Kolkata city center in the municipality of Dum Dum. The airport opened in 1924 and sees nearly 20 million passengers annually, making it the fifth busiest airport in the country. While Kolkata Airport is one of the oldest airports in India, in 2014 and 2015 it was awarded Best Improved Airport in the Asia-Pacific Region by Airport Council International.
