(Updated 1 September, 2021) – Authorities have released the latest Thailand travel restrictions for COVID-19 travel according to zones and provinces. Provinces with the highest number of COVID-19 cases are designated dark red zones. Following is a list of provinces and areas according to their respective zones and answers to frequently asked questions about tourism in Thailand.

FAQs & Things to Know about Thailand Travel Restrictions

Are masks required in public? Yes.

Are there restrictions on gatherings? Yes. Gatherings per zone are restricted to the following number of people:

  • Dark red zones: No more than 25 people​
  • Red zones: No more than 50 people​
  • Orange zones: No more than 100 people​

Are there restrictions on movement?

  • Dark red zones: Domestic travel from this zone is not encouraged. Capacity for transportation, such as trains and buses, is reduced to 75%. Public transportation closes from 9pm – 4am. Movement outside of residences is not encouraged.​
  • Other zones: No restrictions​

Are there curfews? Yes.

  • Dark red zones: Curfew from 9pm – 4am
  • Other zones: No restrictions

Are restaurants open for dine-in or takeaway?

  • Dark red zones: Dine-in is allowed until 8pm. Capacity is reduced to 75% for open-air restaurants and 50% for closed areas. Alcoholic beverages cannot be served.​
  • Red zones: Dine-in is allowed until 11pm. Alcoholic beverages cannot be served.
  • Orange zones: Dine-in is allowed. Alcoholic beverages cannot be served.​

Are beaches accessible?

  • Dark red zones: Movement outside of residence is not encouraged.​
  • Other zones: No restrictions​.​

Are retail shops and shopping centers open?

  • Dark red zones: Shopping centers are open until 8pm with conditions for certain shops and activities:
    • Beauty and hair salons: haircuts only
    • Massage parlors: foot massages only
    • Beauty clinics: product-selling only
    • Restaurants: capacity reduced to 50%
    • Exceptions: movie theaters, amusement and water parks, fitness centers, swimming pools and conference rooms remain closed.
  • Other zones: No restrictions.​

Are pubs and nightlife open?​ Pubs, bars, and nightlife are closed.

Are personal care services like massage parlors and hair salons available?

  • Dark red zones: Massage parlors and hair salons are open for haircuts and foot massages only.
  • Other zones: No restrictions.

Are museums, galleries, and places of worship open?​

  • Dark red zones: Places of worship are open. Museums, art galleries, and tourist attractions are closed.​
  • Other zones: No restrictions.​
