Excellent for a budget that low. Recommended
Good location at downtown area with Metro/Subway stations 5 minutes walk only. Wide choice of local Egyptian restaurants along the streets and road. Located at level 5 or 6, with old elevator sometimes not working but usually works. Very basic hostel. The owner named Adel is very nice and warned me of scams to be careful of. Cairo's traffic is noisy with honkings so, bring earplugs for light sleepers. But there is no traffic noise midnight onwards so no problem. For the very low price, this place is highly recommended. I love the living area and the balcony to view the street and sunset. Adel also arrange free airport transfer (depends on how many nights booking) or else it is USD10 if you book through him. Highly recommended. And I got free upgrade to a huge room although I was there alone.

Wish I stayed elsewhere
The pictures were really good as compared to reality. The hostel is at a rundown building, with old lift that i don't use because i don't know how to. My room had broken doors so the wind and mosquitoes came through at night. Floors were dirty and toilet/bathroom as well. You can hear the floors in the next room creaking. Location is in downtown, you can find good food easily. There's a famous bakery just opposite the hostel building which is packed with shoppers throughout the day and night - I'm not kidding. Other than that, not much to shop though. It is far from the Egyptian Museum though, which is a great highlight of my trip. However, staff were really nice and they are very helpful. Overall, not comfortable at all and i wish i stayed somewhere else.

The best people you'll meet in egypt
Friendly and very helpful staff
The guys at the travellers house are the nicest people you'll ever meet in the entire egypt, especially Adel (the owner) and Maged. They even assisted in planning the rest of our trip to aswan and luxor at a reasonable price and all their contacts were just as good. In a country like egypt in its current unrest and problems, you definitely value friends such as the guys at the travellers house.

Lovely Staff
Friendly Staff, Central Location, Value for money
The young staff will give you the ultimate experience of a new city. They speak English very well and They guide you with passion and make sure all your needs are met. The roads nearby are very noisy and the apartment is very old but the staff make up for everything.

quick stop
staff. Price.
Just a One night stop before leaving egypt. It is. What it is. Budget accaccommodation. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Not too convinient for just the airport but there are a few fixed price mini marts very close that are great if you are sick and tired of barganing just for some water.

Nice and quiet despite Downtown Cairo
friendly and helpful staff, good location & quiet room
Very pleasant - rooms are large with decent cooling. Also very quiet despite all the madness that is downtown Cairo. Staff are also very friendly and helpful. The only bad thing I have to say are the power cuts that happen nightly, which isn't the fault of the hotel. Bring a torch and maybe stay out of the lift at night.
