Travelers Good value if you can take a few inconvieniences”
Likes: Room cleaned every day (although sheets not changed often) 711 convienience store about 20 steps away from front entrance Good location but noisy late at night until after 2 AM. Good value had my own bathroom and shower in room. Could wear shoes to room did not have to remove shoes at entrance like many other hotels. Could flush used tissue down stool instead of throwing it into a nearby waste basket. Dislikes: I had to show them my reservation on my computer. They apparently could not find my reservation. Bathroom floor never dried completely. No internet in my room. I had to go to lobby to use internet. No TV in my room and I did not notice one in the lobby either.
You get what you pay for ”
Since 15 years I visit this place from time to time ..staff is great location in great only the owner doing nothing on his house since at least 20 years and now it's on a point where I can not recommend it any more even for the cheap price.
Hotel is a bit old, try not to wander around the hallway at night, it gives a creepy feeling due to its design. If you want to experience that feeling, do visit the male toilet at ground floor at night, totally hidden and my goodness its freaking creepy, had to pee and was lazy to up to my own room. Other than that everything else is quite good.
Nice location no WiFi ”
Located near the old city and the night market. The only hotel I have been where the WiFi is not accessible from the low cost rooms. There is a high end section in that hotel where I assume they have WiFi otherwise it's on the ground floor.
Careless and dirty”
The room was disgusting, toilet leaking all over the place... dirty water all over the place, it really smelled, we wanted to upgrade the room and it was a ridiculous amount of money... luckily the location was quite good.
The location is good, but the hotel is kinda old, not so clean and needs to be renovated, old blankets and beds and noisy air-conditioning . Too nice in the pictures but not in real. Its worth what you paying for. But the staff is good very helpful.
Right in the middle of the restaurant and bar area!”
Great location as I said to the bars, restaurants, markets and the old city of Chiang Mai.Rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The whole hotel probably needs a paint but I have found that in so many budget hotels I have stayed at in Thailand.Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a coffee shop out the front where you can sit and watch the going ons of Chiang Mai,This is the second time I have stayed here and I will come back.
i loved it ”
complete hotel but slightly dated wifi a lil glitchy otherwise, i left the location was jus perfect, not too far from many places many bars in the same stretch but all closes at 12. so u gotta hit it early easy to get food and bike to move around
Best Value going & Location, Location, Location.”
In some ways, the physical facility is an aging structure and many of the fixtures show their age. But other than that, the staff is very friendly and helpful, I found a very good level of cleanliness, the value for the money is extremely favorable - including the laundry services of the hotel. The two highest points are clearly the value for the money and the location of this hotel - especially for the single traveler. Hard to beat. I have stayed there MANY times over several years and will do so again and again. I bring my friends there, as well and those who have visited again choose the Traveller Inn again and again, as well.
Bring mosquito repellant! :)”
Apart from the limited parking space (I was travelling around Thailand on a motorcycle) I find this hotel quite pleasant. Good location with 7-11 just across the street - and walking distance to the night market. Bathroom looks a bit old though. Could get loud from the street noise if you are staying on the lower floors.
A good spot to stay for the night market”
I had a great time at that location. The Hotel itself has a few discrepancies between rooms, the fridge didn't work in one, the shower wasn't hot in another, and the air con smelled like pee in yet another. But the staff was willing to move me around or fix the ailments to make me happy. Plus, the girls at the front were very sweet, and the men extremely polite. I'm not into ladyboys by any stretch but if you are there is a bar right at the entrance of the parkade where the unknowing were spending their time. This hotel is in the red light district and there is a flock of good bars on both sides where there is plenty of Massage and the bar girls are attentive and very beautiful if you are feeling lonely. There is also a Muay Tai stadium down the road towards Mcdonalds, Dukes and Burger King (to the right by the night market).
Noisy until 2 am.”
This hotel, not sure even I should call "hotel" but it's located on bar street and my room was jsut above the bar. You will never fall asleep as long as the bar open. It's closed around 1am but after that you can still hear the loud conversation by bar ladies.
Terrible. Although I didn't expect anything with its cheap price, room is far dirty than I could ever imagine. And on top of that, you have to PAY TO USE WIFI which is advertised to be free and always available.
Good location (near Tha Pae Gate and Night Bazzard”
The location are very helpful to go to Night Bazzard and Tha Pae gate. The staff can seak a little Eng but very suportive. Have a big parking lot for motorbike and car. However, it's noisy at night, furnitures are old.
My stay at The Traveller Inn.”
I recommend staying at the Traveller Inn.You could not get a better location being a stones throw away from the river Ping, the old city and the best bars and restaurants and night life( if thats you thing). The staff were really friendly and English was understood and spoken. It is old and really needs a coat of paint to bring the standard up.The rooms are clean and the bed was very soft.i stayed for 3 days and the room was cleaned daily and the bed linen and towels changed daily.I only needed the air conditioner on one night, the rest i opened the window and let the cool breeze in.Wifi worked well in my room so that was good also. For $16 Australian a night it is good value.
Good location but many things don't work”
This hotel is too old and needs serious remodeling. Many things don't work properly like TV, Wifi, phone etc. I paid about 500 bt for the room but it was worth maybe 350 bt which Buddy Guesthouse their rival used to sell for. So I stayed only one night. There is a night guard so it seems safe. They seem to have many guests but all seem to check out the next day and I was among them. The room is quite spacey so much bigger than that of Buddy G.H. Anyway 711 is just downstairs and the window has a good view and the room was not noisy. So I might return if the price is low next time.
Very nice hotel with large rooms and comfy bed”
I stayed in a basic fan room with double bed. The room itself was very clean and had a surprisingly comfy double bed. I suspect there are two parts to the hotel, with the fancier rooms as seen in the pictures belonging to the air con rooms. The fan rooms are in a seperate building and are not as fancy in terms of decor. There is also NO WI-FI in this part of the hotel. The location is ideal, with everything within a few minutes walking distance such as the night markets and the various bars that make up the nightlife in Chiang Mai. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Overall, a very good place to stay for the price, given the size of the room and proper hotel quality bed. It is a shame there is no Wi-Fi in the fan room part of the hotel
Top location, cosy room with mountain view”
Also thanks to the lovely and helpful staff I felt immediately at home here. Choice of free and paid water in the fridge, powerful hot shower, cosy lightning no tube lights, cable TV, silent aircon with remote. Fresh big towels, clean sheets. No need a 5-star hotel this was a very pleasant stay. 4 stars for me.
Love this place!”
It's a bit gone glory but I really loved this place and will be back soon. However you gotta ask for the best rooms, and I liked it could live there for a year :) Waking up with a view on the mountain is great! Lovely owner the old lady.
Three rooms in two nights”
I checked in around noon after a grueling flight from the US. On Saturday morning I took my second cold shower in this room and decided to change rooms. One was quickly provided by the friendly staff but the second room had defective a/c. So I moved into a third room. I was disappointed in the quality of the rooms. I have stayed in the Traveller Inn at least two times in the past couple of years and do not remember having this many problems on those stays. I suspect poor maintenance but do not know for sure. The Traveller is the kind of hotel I like in Thailand - a local spot frequented by Thais that costs only 20 to 25 USD per night, but alas I think I need to find another hotel in Chiang Mai as the decrepitude of the Traveller makes it unacceptable.
