        Three rooms in two nights”

        Location, price and friendly staff

I checked in around noon after a grueling flight from the US. On Saturday morning I took my second cold shower in this room and decided to change rooms. One was quickly provided by the friendly staff but the second room had defective a/c. So I moved into a third room. I was disappointed in the quality of the rooms. I have stayed in the Traveller Inn at least two times in the past couple of years and do not remember having this many problems on those stays. I suspect poor maintenance but do not know for sure. The Traveller is the kind of hotel I like in Thailand - a local spot frequented by Thais that costs only 20 to 25 USD per night, but alas I think I need to find another hotel in Chiang Mai as the decrepitude of the Traveller makes it unacceptable.

        The Basics”

        location, tv, clean

I was very sick while I was staying at the Traveller Inn during New Year's, so my boyfriend and I spent a lot of time in the hotel room. We spent the first two nights in 409, where is spent most of my time on our makeshift double bed, using two singles mattresses. One of the beds was so warped that it sank a considerable amount lower than the other and my boyfriend woke up with major back pains each morning. Thankfully the tv had one English channel that played movies all day and night to keep our minds off of the uncomfortable bed. We were moved into the room across the hall for our last night, that had an actual double bed, but no movie channel. Can't have it all I guess. Other than the bed, the room had everything you need for an average stay in Chiang Mai; there's a 7eleven right across the street and your about a 5 minute walking distance to the Thai Pae gate and the night bazaar. Very good location and the staff kept our room clean during our stay. If you want the basics, it's not a bad place to stay.

Best Value going & Location, Location, Location.”

In some ways, the physical facility is an aging structure and many of the fixtures show their age. But other than that, the staff is very friendly and helpful, I found a very good level of cleanliness, the value for the money is extremely favorable - including the laundry services of the hotel. The two highest points are clearly the value for the money and the location of this hotel - especially for the single traveler. Hard to beat. I have stayed there MANY times over several years and will do so again and again. I bring my friends there, as well and those who have visited again choose the Traveller Inn again and again, as well.

Great location as I said to the bars, restaurants, markets and the old city of Chiang Mai.Rooms are basic but clean and tidy. The whole hotel probably needs a paint but I have found that in so many budget hotels I have stayed at in Thailand.Staff are friendly and helpful. There is a coffee shop out the front where you can sit and watch the going ons of Chiang Mai,This is the second time I have stayed here and I will come back.

Very nice hotel with large rooms and comfy bed”

Good location, value for money and large rooms

I stayed in a basic fan room with double bed. The room itself was very clean and had a surprisingly comfy double bed. I suspect there are two parts to the hotel, with the fancier rooms as seen in the pictures belonging to the air con rooms. The fan rooms are in a seperate building and are not as fancy in terms of decor. There is also NO WI-FI in this part of the hotel. The location is ideal, with everything within a few minutes walking distance such as the night markets and the various bars that make up the nightlife in Chiang Mai. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Overall, a very good place to stay for the price, given the size of the room and proper hotel quality bed. It is a shame there is no Wi-Fi in the fan room part of the hotel

        Location.staff friendliness,comfortable bed.

I recommend staying at the Traveller Inn.You could not get a better location being a stones throw away from the river Ping, the old city and the best bars and restaurants and night life( if thats you thing). The staff were really friendly and English was understood and spoken. It is old and really needs a coat of paint to bring the standard up.The rooms are clean and the bed was very soft.i stayed for 3 days and the room was cleaned daily and the bed linen and towels changed daily.I only needed the air conditioner on one night, the rest i opened the window and let the cool breeze in.Wifi worked well in my room so that was good also. For $16 Australian a night it is good value.

This hotel has very friendly staff members which made the stay really good. The lady that works there in the morning was very helpful and attended to all our needs from information of where to go and even replaced our room to a better one. The location is in a very good location with a 7/11 across the road and the night market around 500-800 meters away. I was going to stay 1 night ended up staying 5 night till I had to leave. I would recommend this place to every one

It's an "Ok" hotel for a night.”

In the middle of the Night Bazaar action

The hotel itself is ok. I did feel like I was straight out of a 70's gangster movie, but it was ok. Clean enough. The staff were kind. It's a short walk to the night Bazaar, if your into that kind of thing :) Guests should be warned that this hotel is in the middle of the red light district. My main concern with this hotel is that many of the small, revolting men who travel to Chiang Mai to exploit and use these precious women stay in this hotel. This is not a fault of the hotel, just their location. So be warned if your likely to want to kick men who exploit women in the nuts, you might want to find a different area.

Hotel that takes care of its guests”

I felt welcome in this hotel. The room was very nice, just like on the pictures. The only thing that was not specified that the balcony had no view, so we saw the next building(although, we could see a peak of a mountain :)) Nevertheless, we were happy that we had a balcony at all. It turned out to be great to have a building in front of the balcony because the sun wouldn’t have any access to our room and it was relatively cool. We barely used the A/C. We particularly liked that our room was cleaned every day. We got clean towels every day, a new roll of toilet paper, and new bottles of water. They recycle the glass bottles instead of using plastic, which I found really great. The stuff was really nice. They greeted us all the time, and were always helpful with any request. Because we were afraid that we would be cold at night, we requested extra blankets, for which we paid extra 50 baht. I would recommend staying at this hotel 10/10.

The location stood out as it located in between Tha Pae Gate and The Night Bazaar Market. Car park is on the ground floor easy access to the lift. Cold air-con but a bit noisy. Comfortable bed , clean towels, and very helpful and friendly staff. Late check-out at 12pm and 24hrs front desk. Safe and quiet place.

Likes: Room cleaned every day (although sheets not changed often) 711 convienience store about 20 steps away from front entrance Good location but noisy late at night until after 2 AM. Good value had my own bathroom and shower in room. Could wear shoes to room did not have to remove shoes at entrance like many other hotels. Could flush used tissue down stool instead of throwing it into a nearby waste basket. Dislikes: I had to show them my reservation on my computer. They apparently could not find my reservation. Bathroom floor never dried completely. No internet in my room. I had to go to lobby to use internet. No TV in my room and I did not notice one in the lobby either.

A good spot to stay for the night market”

Close the night Market (to the right when facing 7-11) the Wild Boar Restaraunt (to the left), and the little bar next to 7-11 (directly across) where you can ask to hear some of your favourite music.

I had a great time at that location. The Hotel itself has a few discrepancies between rooms, the fridge didn't work in one, the shower wasn't hot in another, and the air con smelled like pee in yet another. But the staff was willing to move me around or fix the ailments to make me happy. Plus, the girls at the front were very sweet, and the men extremely polite. I'm not into ladyboys by any stretch but if you are there is a bar right at the entrance of the parkade where the unknowing were spending their time. This hotel is in the red light district and there is a flock of good bars on both sides where there is plenty of Massage and the bar girls are attentive and very beautiful if you are feeling lonely. There is also a Muay Tai stadium down the road towards Mcdonalds, Dukes and Burger King (to the right by the night market).

The Travellers is a nice hotel. The rooms are clean and medium in size, the staff friendly and helpful. The location is also good, just 5-10 minutes walk to the old city wall, night bizarre, many shops and food outlets. The lighting, airco, frig were all ok. cheap hotel with good location”

        location, staff, airport taxi service

while the staff are very friendly, the facilities here are in need of improvement. the bed is quite hard, blankets are itchy, the bathroom is abysmal: grimy tub, toilet that doesn't flush all the way, water heater never seem to work. it is however very near the Night Bazaar & CNX old city so this is one big plus for those who have lazy feet. if you'd like a room with a view ask for sth higher than 2nd floor because mine was the wall of the next house. also, this street is full of 'happy girl' bars/pubs/saloons/massage parlors so the night scene is not the prettiest.

Good location but many things don't work”

        location room size

This hotel is too old and needs serious remodeling. Many things don't work properly like TV, Wifi, phone etc. I paid about 500 bt for the room but it was worth maybe 350 bt which Buddy Guesthouse their rival used to sell for. So I stayed only one night. There is a night guard so it seems safe. They seem to have many guests but all seem to check out the next day and I was among them. The room is quite spacey so much bigger than that of Buddy G.H. Anyway 711 is just downstairs and the window has a good view and the room was not noisy. So I might return if the price is low next time.
