London’s got it all, especially during Christmas. It’s like a giant advent calendar, but instead of chocolate, you get unforgettable memories every day. Follow my 3-day holiday trip I spent with my family that was all fun, nostalgia, and a big old feast!
First stop, Presidential Apartments Kensington – a serviced apartment like our own little London flat. I absolutely loved the massive kitchen and living room. If you love big spaces, and homey vibes, definitely book the serviced apartments.
Straight off, we hit the Natural History Museum. Did you know that almost all the museums are FREE in London? You can get hands-on at the learning center and pick apart specimens with their staff. I used to love this place when I was 8 years old, digging ‘fossils’ and making experiments and hypotheses. Must say, it’s still epic today (for a 28-year-old) that we stayed all day until they closed.
We then dropped by “Dishoom” for dinner, the best Indian place in town, where the Choco-Chai tea is a game-changer.
Christmas eve was a treat and jam-packed with activities! We heard of a traditional Meat Market in Farringdon where locals get together at the wholesale meat market and haggle for absurdly large amounts of meat! Feeling FOMO, we scored ourselves a basketball-sized beef fillet for only £40! Highly recommend to visit this unique spectacle if you’re in London during the holidays (only happens once a year!).
In hindsight, we probably didn’t need to buy the meet so our friend quickly popped this chunk of meat in the fridge at his flat and we headed over to SOHO, the hub of all-things entertainment. We scored tickets to “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” theatre and I will tell you that the special effects and props were truly magical. Make sure to book these tickets ahead of time because they don’t do walk-ins. But if you’re spontaneous, check out the Harry Potter Walking Tour, which is equally enchanting.
We took a short hour break for lunch and ate at the Chipotle in Chinatown and ended the night hitting up the #5 World’s Best Bar at the Connaught Bar in Mayfair. Not cheap, but hey! When in London, right?
On Christmas Day, many restaurants were closed but we went around Islington for a walk around the canal and dropped by a few pubs for a quick pint or two before we went back to our hotel.
The big finale? A Christmas feast with the entire family and friends in London, all crowding into the kitchen trying to be the next Gordon Ramsay. That beef fillet was the star of the show!
After all the food, we decided to walk it off and ended the evening at the bustling Carnaby Universe where the beautiful lights ignited all the joys of Christmas.
Sadly, I caught the flight out of Heathrow the next day. And that was wrap for London!
