Forget shopping bags and fiery curries! This Bangkok adventure is all about capturing the city’s vibrant charm. For this trip, we had a flexible itinerary armed with our cameras. Here are some of Bangkok’s photogenic landmarks you must visit!
We disembarked from our plane at Suvarnabhumi Airport and breezed through immigration. The Airport Rail Link whisked us to the end of the line at Phaya Thai Station. Following our friends’ recommendation, we opted to stay at VIX Bangkok @ Victory Monument. The hotel is a short 16-minute walk from Phaya Thai Station. If you prefer a quicker option or have heavy luggage, take the BTS and alight at the Victory Monument station. From there, it’s just a 500-meter stroll to the hotel.
Our next stop was Jodd Fairs DanNeramit, a night market with a distinctive castle entrance. Arriving at 4 pm, we found it pleasantly uncrowded under the bright afternoon sky. It’s important to note that this market doesn’t have the same vibrant atmosphere as their Rama 9 location. However, the relaxed vibe allows you to soak up the atmosphere and capture some great photos.
On our second day, we ventured outside the city for a day of cultural immersion and coastal beauty. Our morning began with a visit to Ancient City – Muang Boran, one of the world’s largest open-air museums. Here, you can experience a whirlwind tour of Thailand’s diverse regions in a single day!
Many visitors choose to rent traditional Thai clothing for photo opportunities within the park. This experience adds a unique touch to your visit, allowing you to connect with Thai culture on a deeper level.
Tips for visiting Ancient City: While the direct foreigner ticket can be expensive, consider purchasing a discounted ticket online in advance. Lunch options are plentiful within the park. The buffet is convenient, but feel free to explore the variety of food vendors as well.
In the afternoon, we moved on to Bang Pu Recreation Center. This coastal haven comes alive during the cooler months between November and early April, when flocks of seagulls gather at sunset. Witnessing this spectacle offers a serene escape from the city’s vibrancy and a delightful opportunity to connect with nature.
On our final day, we focused on two iconic landmarks within easy reach of each other – Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, both situated along the Chao Phraya River.
We arrived at Wat Arun at 8 am, the perfect time to beat the heat and crowds. The place will be more crowded at around 10 AM, when visitors arrive in their rented outfits. You will be among, or one of hundreds of Prince and Princess in Chut Thai Customs! Another ideal time to visit here is late afternoon, as the sun dips lower in the sky, its rays dye the temple in shades of yellow and gold, which creates a magnificent view.
When we reached the Grand Palace, it was already packed with many tourist groups. So we decided to wander around and admire its grandeur from the outside. The clear blue skies provided a stunning backdrop for capturing photo memories of this magnificent landmark.
