Couple’s retreat in Koh Samet – 3 days 2 nights

Explore Koh Samet, a beautiful getaway perfect for couples seeking a mix of relaxation and adventure in a tranquil setting. Enjoy memorable moments together in this picturesque paradise.

Day 1: Arrival and relaxation

Koh Samet, Thailand

Koh Samet is part of the Phe Subdistrict in Rayong Province. Getting there from Bangkok is straightforward and easy; we left Ekkamai Bus Station at 9 AM and arrived at Ban Phe Pier by noon. From there, you can take a ferry or speedboat to the island.

The island offers a range of accommodations, from hotels and hostels to guesthouses, mostly centered around Samet Town. We stayed at Sinsamut Hotel Koh Samed, which provides basic rooms but definitely in a prime location, just 40 meters from the beach! Very convenient and special.

We spent the rest of our day wandering around the center of town and enjoyed the local seafood. Thailand really has it all!

Day 2: Island exploration and adventures

Koh Samet, Thailand

Renting a motorbike is an excellent way to explore Koh Samet at your own pace, giving you the freedom to uncover less accessible spots across the island. The rental costs 400 Baht per day or 100 Baht per hour, including a full tank of fuel.

Here are some must-visit spots:

  • Ao Wong Duean: Often recommended by Western tourists, this quiet beach is several hundred yards long, making it ideal for kids to run around and for us to relax.
  • Baan Ploy Sea: This beachfront hotel has an awesome infinity pool. If staying here stretches your budget, consider dining in their open-air restaurant for great seafood in a beautiful atmosphere.
  • Ao Pakarang: Perfect for watching both sunrise and sunset.
  • Sai Kaew Beach at Night: As the evening cools, the beach lights up with bars, restaurants, and fight shows, giving us a pleasing retreat from the daytime heat.
  • Day 3: Leisure and departure

    Koh Samet, Thailand

On our last morning, we checked out early and enjoyed a peaceful start at Jump at Sea, a charming coffee shop. Over our favorite caramel coffee, we watched street vendors bustling by. It was a serene setting ideal for relaxing and reflecting before heading back to the city’s hustle.
