After nine years in Thailand, I’ve discovered Khao Yai as the ultimate short getaway! My three-day itinerary is packed with thrilling nature explorations, relaxing stays at cozy hotels, and visits to exciting landmarks.
Visit one of Thailand’s largest and oldest national parks, Khao Yai National Park, and spend a day immersed in nature. Hike along scenic trails, admire the local flora and fauna, and be captivated by the majestic Haew Suwat and Haew Narok waterfalls. The park’s breathtaking beauty is truly awe-inspiring.
In the evening, enjoy a family-style dinner at Kua Kampan, where meals are made with fresh vegetables sourced directly from local waters and farms, offering an authentic taste of Thai cuisine.
Just a stone’s throw from Bangkok, Khao Yai boasts numerous nature-themed hotels. This time, I chose the dusitD2 Khao Yai, a charming retreat teeming with adorable animals. Surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, the hotel offers a refreshing escape from Bangkok’s hustle and the demands of a busy work schedule. Here, you can immerse yourself in nature—feeding alpacas and rabbits, wandering through lush gardens, swimming in a pool with panoramic mountain views, and savoring a delicious Thai meal at the hotel restaurant. Cap off the day with a soothing Thai massage, and you’ve got yourself a perfectly serene and joyful experience.
On my way back to Bangkok, I love to stop by several charming spots. Primo Piazza, a unique attraction that replicates the architecture of a 500-year-old Tuscan village, is one of my favorites. It features restaurants, a sheep farm, and alpacas, offering a delightful blend of dining and shopping amidst a historical ambiance.
I also enjoy visiting Tara Café, a lush riverside coffee shop perfect for a relaxing break. Another time, I took my family to Bonanza Exotic Zoo and Pete Maze, which provided engaging and fun activities for the kids. For a truly unique experience, I tried role-playing at Hobbit House (Baan Suan Noi Resort), immersing myself in a fantasy setting modeled after the enchanting world of hobbits.
If your itinerary only allows for one or two stops, don’t worry—Khao Yai is a place worth visiting time and again, and you can choose the attractions that best suit your tastes.
