Follow me and dive into four action-packed days in Seoul—a mix of cultural landmarks, outdoor fun, and a taste of local life in South Korea’s vibrant capital.
My Seoul journey kicked off with the architectural marvel that is Myeongdong Cathedral, marking Korea’s first foray into brick Gothic design. A short walk led me to the tranquility of Cheonggyecheon Stream. I ended my day at the iconic Gyeongbokgung Palace.
The highlight was to witness the ceremonial changing of the royal guards, and enjoy the fun opportunity to wear traditional Korean attire for a memorable cosplay experience set against the backdrop of ancient architecture.
Coming from a country that has year-round sunshine, I very much looked forward to Korea’s ski season running from November through March. I hit up High1 Resort, a local favorite not far from the city. With a wide variety of ski runs, it’s a great value, especially with hot springs and hiking options when you’re not on the slopes. On top of that, I also enjoyed the views of the Jijang and Taebaek mountains from the slopes.
After 2 days of skiing adventure, there’s no better way to reward yourself than with Seoul’s phenomenal food scene and vibrant shopping districts! I dug into dishes like Bibimbap, Bulgogi, Tteokbokki, Jjigae, and Jajangmyeon…Then there was some serious shopping therapy in Myeongdong and Hongdae, winding up with an evening at Dongdaemun Market—a perfect spot for accessories before heading back.
