Welcome to Uttarakhand, where the majestic Himalayas meet spiritual serenity and natural beauty. Join me on a 5-day journey through the enchanting towns of Rishikesh and Nainital, where every moment is a celebration of adventure, tranquillity, and breathtaking vistas.
My adventure began in Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. After arriving, I checked into my riverside accommodation, Aloha On The Ganges Rishikesh by Leisure Hotels, where the soothing sound of the Ganges River set the perfect ambiance. I started my exploration with a visit to the iconic Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula, two suspension bridges offering panoramic views of the river and surrounding mountains. In the evening, I attended the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti ceremony on the banks of the river, a spiritual experience that is not to be missed. After exploring all these sites, I realized that exploring Uttarakhand was the best decision I made.
On day 2, I immersed myself in the adventurous spirit of Rishikesh. I experienced an exhilarating white-water rafting expedition on the Ganges, navigating through thrilling rapids and pristine stretches of the river. After this adventurous ride, I was very hungry and headed directly for lunch. After finishing lunch, I embarked on a trek to the stunning Neer Garh Waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery and cascading waters. Chasing waterfalls is my favorite thing to do during travel. In the evening, I visited the famous Beatles Ashram, where the legendary band once stayed and found inspiration for their music. The best part of this place is the peace and the unique architecture. It’s a wonderful place to feel the vibe.
As we were in Uttarakhand, how could I miss the Lake City? Leaving Rishikesh behind, I headed towards Tehri Lake to experience the thrill of flying over the beautiful landscapes and participating in water sports and activities like jet skiing, banana boat rides, and kayaking. Next, I embarked on a scenic drive to Nainital, the picturesque lake district nestled amidst the Kumaon hills. Upon arrival, I checked into my Lakeside Inn, a cozy hillside accommodation overlooking the tranquil Naini Lake. I spent the evening exploring the vibrant Mall Road, lined with charming shops, cafes, and colonial-era buildings.
I was both happy and sad as this was my last day in Uttarakhand. I dedicated the day to exploring Nainital’s natural beauty and cultural heritage. I started with a visit to the scenic Snow View Point, accessible by cable car, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks and surrounding valleys. Next, I explored the serene Naini Lake and took a boat ride, known for its tranquil ambiance and lush surroundings. In the afternoon, I visited the historic Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, dedicated to Neem Karoli Baba and Lord Hanuman, and soaked in the spiritual aura of the sacred site. You wouldn’t believe that both Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg have visited this place.
As my journey through Uttarakhand came to a close, I bid farewell to the enchanting towns of Rishikesh and Nainital. Before departing, I took a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Thandi Sadak, also known as Lover’s Walk, soaking in the serene ambiance and scenic beauty. Reflecting on my unforgettable experiences, I carry with me the memories of Uttarakhand’s natural wonders, spiritual sanctuaries, and warm hospitality, longing to return soon for another adventure amidst the Himalayan foothills.
