Explore Karnataka’s beautiful heritage by visiting Mysuru, Coorg and Hampi.
Welcome to Mysuru, just 3 hours from Bengaluru, the third-largest city in Karnataka, known for its palaces, history, and rich culture.
I started my day with a trip to the grand 120-year-old Mysore Palace, which was at par with the palaces we had seen across Europe. Next, I headed over to Karanji Lake and rented a boat for a ride. The ride was serene and with each passing moment, the world seemed to slow down, allowing me to drink in the beauty of the coastal landscape. After the breathtaking boat ride, I was famished and then headed to try the iconic Mylari Dosa from this 80-year-old establishment, where the dosas literally were melting in my mouth. Then I went straight to Chamundi Hills for a panoramic view of the city. Somebody once told me “if you have come to Mysuru and haven’t tried the iconic Mysore Pak then have you even come to Mysore” hence had to try out the authentic Mysore Pak which was extremely soft and delicious. I then checked the Clock Tower and visited the historic 9th-century city of Srirangapatna. During my stay in Mysuru, I stayed at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Mysore, but the Royal Orchid Brindavan Gardens Hotel is also an excellent alternative.
After indulging in 2 days in Mysuru, we left for Coorg. The smooth journey from Mysuru to Coorg was for approx 3 hours. I arrived at WelcomHeritage Ayatana Coorg – from warm welcome to comfortable accommodation, this hotel made sure that I had one of the best unforgettable experiences. My day started with relaxing in the hotel for a bit, followed by a quick visit to Malalli Falls. This majestic waterfall is a must visit experience as you can hear the crashing water sounds amidst nature. I then headed to Madikeri and checked out Glass Bridge and Abbey Falls. To end my perfect day, I went to THE Raja Seat. Known for its breathtaking sunset views, I watched panoramic views of Coorg’s majestic landscape. The next day, I embarked on an early morning hike to the Doda Petta Peak and experienced the most incredible sunrise in Coorg. I visited Nagarhole, checked out Iruppu Falls, spent some time with elephants at Dubare Elephant Camp, and ended the day at Chikkelhole Dam. My fourth day at Coorg began with a visit to Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary, Mandalpatti Peak, and coffee plantations.
From Coorg I travelled on to Hampi. Upon reaching Hampi, I checked in to the Hampi Heritage and Wilderness Resort – JungleLodges. A great alternative for accommodation is the WelcomeHeritage Shivavilas Palaces. You can also book the full day tour to visit Badami, Aihole and Pattadakal from Hampi. Once I settled in, I headed over to Sanapur Lake where I tried out a coracle ride and even went cliff jumping. Afterward, we explored Hampi’s nightlife. Next day, I got to explored all UNESCO World Heritage sites, including caves and paintings, and ended the day with a beautiful sunset. On the last day, I climbed up the hill for a beautiful sunrise and then visited the iconic stone Chariot, featured on the 50 rupees note. I explored Hampi’s unique landscape, tried out the local cafes, and experienced sound healing unique to Hampi.
