7 days of adventure in Leh-Ladakh

A captivating week in Leh-Ladakh filled with majestic palaces, serene monasteries, and the enchanting Nubra Valley turning in a thrilling exploration of the breathtaking vistas of Kargil. Thankfully, I booked all my stays beforehand through Agoda for a seamless travel experience.

Day 1-2: Leh: Altitude adventures: Exploring Ladakh’s charms from The Zen Resort to Leh’s bustling markets!

India

Embarking on an altitude adventure in Ladakh was a dream come true for me. After landing, I wasted no time and dove straight into acclimatizing amidst the serene surroundings of The Zen Resort Ladakh.

As the sun began to set, I eagerly ventured into the lively streets of Leh Market, immersing myself in the local culture and indulging in the delicious culinary delights that Ladakh had to offer.

The following morning, I kicked off my day with a visit to the majestic Leh Palace. Standing amidst its ancient walls, I couldn’t help but feel awestruck by the rich history that surrounded me, while soaking in the breathtaking views of the valley below.

From there, I made my way up to the serene heights of Shanti Stupa. As I stood atop the hill, the peace and tranquility enveloped me, washing away any lingering stress or worries.

After a morning filled with exploration and wonder, I returned to Leh Market to unwind and soak up more of its vibrant energy. With each step, I discovered new treasures and experiences, rounding off my Ladakh escapade in style.

Overall, my time in Ladakh was nothing short of magical, filled with unforgettable moments and cherished memories that will stay with me forever.

Day 3-4: High-altitude thrills: Crossing Khardung La to Nubra Valley, camel rides, and Pangong Lake adventures

India

On Day 3, I reached the pinnacle of my journey by conquering Khardung La Pass, the world’s highest motorable pass, to reach the breathtaking Nubra Valley.

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the tranquility of Hunder village. There, I indulged in an unforgettable experience – riding double-humped camels amidst the golden sand dunes, feeling the gentle sway as we traversed the desert-like landscape.

As night fell, I found myself at the cozy Lchang Nang Retreat – The House of Trees, nestled snugly in the embrace of the valley. Surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace and contentment wash over me.

The next morning, I embarked on an adventure to the iconic Pangong Lake, its turquoise waters shimmering under the clear sky. Along the way, we journeyed through Chang La Pass, immersing ourselves in Ladakh’s rugged beauty at every turn.

Each moment of the journey was a testament to the grandeur of the Himalayas, etching memories into my heart that would last a lifetime.

Day 5-6: Discovering tranquility: From Kargil’s historic monastery to serene Suru Valley

India

My journey through Kargil’s rich heritage and picturesque scenery was truly unforgettable. Upon my arrival, I checked into the cozy ambiance of Hotel The Kargil, which provided the perfect backdrop against the stunning surroundings.

Eager to delve into the region’s history, my first stop was the moving Drass War Memorial, a solemn tribute to the sacrifices made during wartime. Immersed in the local culture, I strolled through the lively markets, taking in the vibrant atmosphere and mingling with the friendly locals.

The next morning, I embarked on an enriching journey to the ancient Mulbekh Monastery. The intricate rock-cut architecture spoke volumes about the region’s heritage, leaving me in awe of its beauty and history. Continuing my exploration, I ventured into the breathtaking Suru Valley, where the tranquil Wakha River meandered through stunning landscapes.

Each moment spent amidst the valley’s serenity left a lasting impression on my soul, offering a glimpse into the beauty and tranquility of Kargil. As I reflected on my experiences, I felt grateful for the opportunity to immerse myself in such a rich tapestry of culture and nature.

Day 7: Leh journey’s end: Bidding farewell to Ladakh’s enchanting landscapes

India

On the last day of my Ladakh adventure, I embarked on a picturesque drive from Kargil to Leh, soaking in the breathtaking beauty of nature at every turn. Arriving at Padma Ladakh, I indulged in a delicious lunch, relishing each mouthful as it marked the end of my journey. With cherished memories of Ladakh’s stunning landscapes imprinted in my mind, I bid a fond farewell as I left for the airport, carrying the essence of this incredible experience with me.
