Perfect for our needs”

My family was coming West, mainly to visit the Grand Canyon and other National Parks. We flew through Las Vegas and decided to stay a couple of nights since we had never been. We are wanted a hotel/casino on the strip so we could get the full experience and the Tropicana provided it. The hotel is clean, well located in the middle of the Strip, and fairly affordable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Downsides are that they don’t keep hot tubs open even when weather would have allowed it. Also the walk from lobby to rooms is quite far - not just through the Casino, which we knew to expect bit than another 5 minutes to get to the elevators. We are not into gambling and didn’t see the shows so can’t comment on those, although Purple Reign is very reasonably priced. Self-Parking is free but also a long walk and limited spaces. Overall, just what we were looking for to start our family vacation right.

Room - Beach Cafe - Check In

Our stay at Tropicana was very good. We stayed for 2 nights, which coincidentally was the Nascar weekend '15. We were in Vegas to celebrate my 30th birthday & were given a free upgrade to a corner junior suite. We stayed in room 1050, which was clean & nice. The hotel came in above our expectations & we got this really cheap, considering it was a weekend. Had a good buffet brunch at the Beach Cafe & sat outside on the deck, which was great. That was $18 each, which is very cheap for Las Vegas these days. Good stay!

Nice swimming pool

the tropicana hotel located at the begining of the strip, oposite of mgm, you can walk along the strip from starting, we like it. they have a big room with nice decoration. facility is worn out. if staying at the special rate, that will be reasonable in las vegas area.luckly, we had the special room rate in our staying.

Great Improvements, but terrible security guards”

Location, Price, Pool, Buffet, Nice Rooms

we stayed for a 3-Day weekend and chose Tropicana for the location, price, and pool. all 3 did not disappoint. although at the tail end of the strip, its spitting distance from the airport and for us a great location for walking around. the Luxor shuttle is just across the street and NYNY too for the Zumanity show. pool was really nice, although i was disappointed by the new Nikki Beach venue. small, loud, and pretentious. i guess with the right party happening it could be fun. hotel pool is spacious and comfortable. plus you don't have to be a guest to be there so you get a good flavor of locals too. the room was really nice. nothing special, but clean and spacious. no refrigerator sucks a little. and bring water cus they do not provide and the tap water is so so. Nikki Beach cafe was really yummy. gambling seemed good, even though i don't partake. my gf and i fell asleep on a couch in a remote part of the hotel as we had an hour or 2 to kill before our monday afternoon flight and a security guard harassed us for sleeping in a public place. i was like, look outside and see all those people asleep around the pool? ummm isn't that a public place? classic security guard response: "move along". anyway, the Trop is a quality stay for the price. you get a Vegas vibe without paying the price.

Refreshingly Bright Las Vegas Retreat”

1) It had a fresh, bright atmosphere which is a rare find in Vegas, 2) The room was very comfortable and clean with a nice design sense, 3) We statyed for a great rate

My husband and I chose to stay at the Tropicana while meeting up with friends. Having stayed at other hotels in Vegas before, I was happy with the refreshing and bright atmosphere -atypical for Vegas. The hotel is not huge and cavernous but instead has all the amenities while still being easy to navigate and within a few steps of the strip.

Good hotel to stay in LV”

I picked this hotel becuase I have good experience with DoubleTree hotels. Tropicana was close to everything in LV. You can leave the car at their free parking lot and take a walk in the middle of LV. Our room was clean, everything worked. Since the rooms have a door to the the next room some noises were coming trough. Our window was looking at the airport. Noise was not disturbing but a window with city view from the top floors must be really good. If you look for a good hotel and good price than I can recommend this one.

Childhood dream realised - but some disappointment”

Since I can remember, it has been my dream to visit Las Vegas - seeing it in the movies and now actually seeing it was worth the wait. We visited to celebrate my 40th birthday and planned this trip over a year. Don't get me wrong - we loved every minute in Las Vegas. The vibe, the culture and the non-stop glamour. We arrived at 00.30 am. Checked in but was told that housekeeping was behind and that our room wasn't ready. We finally managed to get checked-in at 02:20 am. We had the impression that our room was released to someone else, despite being paid for, and we were made to wait for a quick clean to get a room. We were given a US$50 meal voucher while we waited and directed to the foodcourt - not worth the voucher. Returned to the foodcourt at another time, and waited 40 minutes for a tuna melt sandwich. I had to make a lot of noise and ended up asking for a manager. The manager didn't refund my money as they couldn't find my order - but told me I could take the sandwich if I wanted. She offered a complimentary buffet breakfast in the hotel. The buffet breakfast is anything but. It was not worth the US$21.75 my three other guests paid. The hotel does not offer variety or good quality meal options. We took out meals at other casinos each day as we were not in the mood to wait, or only have limited options. Our room was great! Very large, very comfy and great views. The only disappointing bit was the interconnecting door with another room that housed a group of very loud, pot smoking females. Although we were in a non-smoking room, I was surprised that the room next to us was not. I also had additional charges on my check out which were not disclosed in any of my communication. I spent an additional US$300 on resort charges - not making it as affordable as I anticipated.

Great hotel, couldn't ask for more for price!”

Location, clean, pool

Everything you need in a hotel in Vegas. Great pool, good casino, big clean rooms, and best of all inexpensive compared to most others. Location is great as you are right in the heart of the south strip, next to MGM and the food court. Would happily stay here next time in Vegas because to be honest, your hardly in your room so why spend more than you should!

Good location and stay was enjoyable”

Good Location and quiet

Location of this hotel is at the end of Las Vegas strip and so it is less crowded as compared to other hotels towards the middle of the strip. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, you might want to consider staying here. There is a car rental company within the premises and that works as we rented a car very quickly. Some of the things we hoped were better was more food choices in the food court which was very limited in comparison with other hotels we have visited. Lastly, this hotel charges a daily resort fee which covers amenities such as internet, etc, that you will pay only during check in. This cost is not included in the costs seen on Agoda accurate at the time of writing this. Overall, the experience was pretty good and we would consider staying here again.

Relaxed Quality Hotel”

Room Size, Big Bathrooms, minimum off fuss

Tropicana seems to have recently been refurbished and what a great job they have done to this historic hotel. More or less it is at one end of the strip beside MGM, New York and Excaliber. A great location with the rest of the action within easy walking distance. Rooms are spacious, stylish, fresh and very comfortable. Parking is free and right at the hotel. Without exception the staff were helpful and friendly. Casino is less hectic than some and very well run. General facilities, food, bars etc., are all there and affordable. Pool is spacious, clean, with all new fittings and surrounding and was heated in October. Everything about this hotel was very good.

front desk service was excellent. booked the night before on agoda and it wasn't in the system. the clerk contacted the duty manager and everything was fine within 30 minutes. as with most hotels in vegas, the room was lacking some basics such as a ref and microwave in order for the guests to spend more time outside the room. aside from that, who can really complain about a 42" hd tv along with one of the most comfortable beds i've slept in in quite a while. top it off with "block out" window blinds to sleep in after a late night and you really have a winner.

A Great Value”

This hotel was very clean, had updated spacious rooms, and a wonderful value for being on the strip.

My wife and I had a wonderful time attending a conference in Vegas and were pleasantly surprised by the Tropicana. It was a value purchase, but in addition it had a great location, modern-60s style renovation with a semi-hip feel to it. It is not right in the heart of the action on the strip, but reasonable walking distance to many attractions. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again to save a little money with many benefits.

Relaxed and fun”

Location, price, style

The room was excellent. Luckily for us it was in a quiet wing of the hotel. The lobby area and main floor was quite noisy at all times. There was no free breakfast, not even a coffeemaker in the room. Breakfast options in the hotel were limited to one Starbucks. We dined at the Beach Cafe on our first night because there were no other reasonably-priced restaurants open. The cleaning staff stopped by at an odd hour (10PM) to ask if we wanted to have our room tidied up. I answered the door in my pajamas. I strongly recommend reserving the room ahead of time on line. The room charge at the Registration desk is much higher. We were not prepared for the additional daily $20 resort fee that was added on. However, it seems to be standard practice at the downtown hotels in Las Vegas.

New renovated- Beach Cafe needs work”

Lobby Decor, pool atmosphere

we stayed at the tropicana from march 28th-april 2nd, for a parents-only vacation. it is obvious that the hotel has recently undergone a significant upgrade, and knowing that was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. the check-in and our rooms were both in great shape. the pool area is also a great place to waste a day. they have pool-side drink service and the ladies were all friendly and efficient. the only downside to our stay was the meal at the beach cafe. our first day, since we had to wait a couple of hours for our check-in time, we decided to grab some lunch at the beach cafe. it is worth mentioning here, that the decor is outstanding, for a cafe. it is quite apparent that a lot of time and money was used to create the space. my wife is in interior designer and i am an importer of lighting, and both were impressed by the design effort. however, why would they put so much effort into the decor and then serve the food that they did? i ordered the steak wrap and it was bland and also obvious that the mushrooms and onions had been cooked long before they were put in the wrap. my wife ordered the greek salad and asked for the dressing on the side (knowing that salads in vegas, salads tend to come soaked in dressing). the salad came soaked in the dressing. it also featured green olives with pimentos. did they get those from the martini bar? it's the first time i have seen those in a proper ($16) greek salad. the salad also came with some focaccia bread that was rock hard. my wife requested a new one and the waitress was pleasant and got another one. it too, was stale and the waitress said that standards for bread can differ. true enough. one man's bread can be used as a brick in another man's retaining wall. bottom line? the cafe lunch kept us from eating in the tropicana for the rest of our vacation. i doubt their savings on the olives and bread outweighed that.
