What A Wonderful Tryp”
I stayed at Tryp, along with my wife two kids and their friend, for ten days of April 2013, and it positively complemented our pleasant New York visit. The hotel’s location, room amenities, lay out and design combined to elicit a cultivated and warm Manhattan experience. The Hotel straddles the northern and southern division of Manhattan and sits cheek by jowl with the train station, so going uptown or downtown needn’t consume too much commute time. Furthemore, St. Pat, Broadway, the Rock ,Empire State, MSG—not to mention the mundane living requirement, the Laundromat—and other compelling sites are just, and this may only be a slight exaggeration, a stone’s throw away. The two toilets and baths made for minimal lines attending our morning rituals. Motion detecting toilet switches made fumbling for the light switch during nocturnal visits, thankfully, a thing of the past. Two wide screen Wall mounted TVs minimized “ clicker conflict” amongst us tourists afflicted with varied program tastes. Large and firm beds soothed our bodies wearied by brisk walking adventures along NYC’s wide avenues and streets. The gym, though small. provides adequate spic and span gear for some moderate cardio and resistance exercises.. Big windows and the smart bed lay out gave a spacious feeling. The modernist interiors provided a calming effect after harried days. By ingeniously locating cabinets, tables and chairs, one or two people can extravagantly lounge without constricting movement and some desk work by one or two other people. The service crew are knowledgeable and friendly and, although they couldn’t send a corkscrew to my room, friendly staff at the hotel’s lobby bar gladly popped open our bottle of wine. I’d come back here, if given the chance. Tryp Hotel, take a bow.
Updated Hotel with Perks”
A friend of mine and I stayed at Tryp for a brief stay in New York. The hotel has a great modern but inviting decor. The location was great for us. There are tons of restaurants nearby on 9th avenue, Times Square is within walking distance and the subway is also nearby. I can't review the lobby bar/restaurant because we didn't get a chance to try it but it looked nice! I would definitely recommend Tryp to others.
Excellent hotel in great location”
This hotel was a joy to stay in, it has large rooms, mine had two queen beds with lots of room left. A large well equipped bathroom again with plenty of room for all your toiletries and a huge shower space. The hotel is In a very good location, a few minutes walk from Times Square and a a block from Macy's. The is an excellent staff culture and everyone was so friendly and helpful, Got some good tips from the concierge On where to dine. It was also a short walk to the airport bus terminal which saves $40 on a taxi fare. I would definitely stay here again when next in New York.
Modern Hotel exellent location”
Checked in around 7pm on our first night in New York.We had spent about 4 hours stuck in customs at JFK airport and on arrival at the TRYP hotel told that our room was not ready, not a good start.15 minutes later we moved into our room, which was extremely small and not to our expectations. After seeing reception staff and and explaining our dissatisfaction we were then moved to a premium room which was very generous of them.Overal after staying 1 week at the TRYP we found it to be very pleasant,as it was very close to most major attractios,Times Square about 10-15 minutes fast walking distance and of course shopping and more shopping. If the the price is right at hte time of booking we would certainly return to this hotel.
Great Room if not a bit pricey”
Tryp Hotel has great modern facilities with a funky design. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel itself was located just below Times Square so walking around Manhattan was fairly easy. While the price was more than I would usually pay for a hotel I understand New York is an expensive city so overall was worth the money. I recommend for anyone with limited time in New York with a bit more money to splurge for a central location.
a fabulous new york experience”
this was a wonderful surprise at the end of our stay and our only regret was not being able to stay longer. from the friendly atmosphere of the lobby to the ultimate 15 floor room with suround lights to the most enjoyable couple of hours at the bar, with a fantastic barman, our stay at the tryp was a highlight of our new york trip. will definitely be recommending to other australians coming to nyc.
Great service and rooms, a little south of TS”
we had a great stay at tryp. we got to nyc often, but it was our first time at this hotel. the service at this hotel is excellent. everyone was polite and welcoming (doesn't always happen in nyc) and quick to help. we needed 2 pack and plays in the room and they got them to us quickly. the room was very cool with 2 double beds, bunk beds, and the bathroom had 2 sinks. we were also able to fit 2 pack and plays in the room with no issues. the room has 2 closets which is nice when traveling with family. it was very clean. the things i didn't like: saying this is times square south is a bit of a stretch. more like south of times square. the restaurant didn't open until 7 am. i thought that was strange given this hotel seems to have accomodations for families. everyone knows kids are up at 5 am when they are in a hotel! also, we were there for thanksgiving so i would have thought the restaurant would open earlier then that so people could get out to the parade. the lobby is also very crowded with oversize furniture and not much room to check in. i had to take a couple of deep breaths to keep my patience while we waited! i don't mind a wait, but we were exhausted after traveling with 2 kids ages 2 and 6 months, and it would have been great to at least have some room to put all our stuff down. overall, the rooms were clean, big by nyc standards, and the staff was excellent. we would stay there again.
Cosy and clean hotel with helpful staff”
we stayed in the deluxe king bed for 4 nights, the room is as nice and clean as pictured. as the hotel does not provide hotel transfer, they are kind enough to provide me a transportation company to book for my transfers. their reply was prompt and very helpful. they also have tour booking services in the hotel itself which i find it very convenient. as we are very particular about cleaniness of hotel room, we are pleased to satisfy with the cleaniness level of this hotel. the staff are approachable and friendly when our questions in direction and request. the most awesome of all is the hotel offers free wifi! i will definitely be staying in this hotel again the next time i visit new york.
An excellent smaller hotel in a fantastic location”
Tryp by Wyndham Times Square South is in an excellent location close to Times Square, restaurants, shopping and the subway and is very good value for money. The room was a good size, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and polite. My only criticism was the walls and floors are very thin and other guests could be easily heard moving around which was frustrating. Overall my experience here was very good and I would recommend this hotel.
Pleasantly surprised with the size of the room”
A girlfriend and I met in NY for a weekend and stayed at the Tryp by Wyndham. Although I would not consider this area "Time's Square" as the title insinuates; however, it is close enough (10-15 minute walk). The Tryp was conveniently located close to subway as well. I think we were mostly surprised by how large the rooms were for the price (a rarity in NY). Very modern feel. I would recommend this hotel to a friend.
An oasis in an out of the way locale”
Wow, this hotel is so new and clean it's hard to believe it's in the city. Service is top-notch with smiles all around. We arrived three hours before check-in but had to wait not a second for our gorgeous room. Loved the curvy wood floors (no musty-smelling carpet!) and big screen tv. Beds were perfect, slept great. We were supposed to move to a single bed for the second night but they quickly arranged for us not to have to change rooms. The bar was happening with discount coupons given at check-in. Lobby looks cool and has several computers to use. Only drawback is location: Probably was once a sketchy neighborhood, it's located two long blocks west of Penn Station (Madison Square Garden). About a 10 or 15 minute walk to Times Square, but just a five minute walk to Bryant Park (holiday market and skating rink are gorgeous there). We were two women returning to our room around 11 or 12 p.m. each night. Never really felt afraid, but did take a cab once. If you're in good shape and don't travel alone, it's perfectly safe and a worthwhile bargain. Returning to the city soon, and will probably book here...the cleanliness, warmth and friendly staff are hard to resist. Plus, those comfy beds!!
great hotel close to all the action of nyc”
the hotel is relatively new, so everything is in a very good condition with lots of mod-cons. the room was of a good size, especially for ny and the price was a third of what many other hotels were charging. the staff are all very friendly and professional. whenever we passed any employee in the hall or lobby, they smile, hold the lift and help with anything that we needed. only a 5 minute walk to time sqaure and even closer to macy's and madison square gardens. if i came back to ny, i'd have no hesitation in staying here again.
Huge rooms! Lots of space! ”
We stayed here for valentines day and we had a short sweet stay. I wish that they had room service available as we just wanted to stay in because of the storm but they don't deliver anything to the room. The rooms were huge, much bigger than the typical standard New York City room. We had enough space to build a fort (sorry housekeeping! ) beds were comfortable and the bathroom was very nice.
We enjoyed our stay. Hotel was superb.”
We were surprised when we saw our room for the first time: A premium room with the size of a suite, Wow, never had such a big room with 2 bathroom, a living room, 2 tv's and bathrobes. The beds are very hard, I like softer beds. I had trouble withe sleeping on it. Location on 35th is in the centre of New York Manhattan and very close to NY Penn station. The subway (blue line) is very nearby en the red line one block further. The service in the hotel is very friendly although housekeeping was entering our room, at night, when we were asleep (wrong floor....), Can happen, but not that nice. Only thing, that is why didn't rated it with 5*, is that the ground airco made such noise that I turned it of. The temp in the room is pretty high and even with airco on the temp doesn't feel really cool. While we are freezing in the hall???? We also had breakfast, that was ok, not great for $19 person. For small eaters that is pretty expensive and the $19 is excl. tax/tips auto added on the bill.
Nice Hotel/Good Deal”
The room was nicely decorated and was quite large for a New York hotel room. The decor in the common areas was a bit austere. I got a great room rate, which was much less than I have paid for comparable hotels on recent trips to New York. Overall a very good experience.
Great stay at Tryp by Wyndham in New York. Located a block from Penn Station, and with direct access to subway. Fantastic rooms and staff - highly recommend!
great location and value for money”
We were a little skeptical before coming to the hotel and not knowing what we will end up with as we normally stay in well-known hotel chain. This hotel surpasses our expectation. It has spacious, clean room for New York standard and with the rate we are paying, the hotel is definitely top of our list next time we ever visit NY again. Unlike most of the well-known hotel chain in NY where you have to pay extra for Wi-Fi, Tryp hotel provides this service free and with commandable speed as well. There is no room service for the hotel though and the restaurant in the hotel (the only one) closes its service at 930pm. It will be a little difficult to get a taxi passing by in front of the hotel as the road is not main street.
Modern, funky hotel with large NYC hotel rooms!”
Our stay at the Tryp Hotel was great! The hotel is very funky and our room was huge! The staff were so helpful - we let them know we were going to see the Yankees the following night and the guy on the front desk went out of his way to print us directions for the underground so that we could get there easily and gave us tips for taking in the atmosphere. The free wifi is great and the location is excellent. Having been to NYC a few times before we weren't really interested in Times Square but it's really central and the underground stations and Penn Station are at the end of the street so we could get around really easily. Would definitely stay at the hotel again on our next trip - and we are already planning our next NYC adventure!
Stayed with my mom and we both loved it. Room was also pretty big for New York standards. I loved how they provided toiletries which were paraben and sulphate free. Our room was near to the elevators but we slept fine through the night. We were also on the 2nd floor and it wasn't as noisy as I expected. All in all a pleasant stay.
Tryp by Wyndham Times Square South is the best hotel we've been not to mention the exceptional staff”
