Exceptional”
Super kind lady who tried her best to explain the area around the hotel (eg where the nearest restaurants/convenience stores/sites are) and things to take note. The service is exemplary, whenever I arrive at the hotel, I’d be greeted politely! Really appreciate the private onsen and how clean the facilities are. Super cute, homely and cosy stay. Really enjoyed my experience!

Best value”
The hotel is close to bus station and within walking distance to toshogu. The room is cute and clean. The “private” onsen is a good surprise too! Definitely worth the money I paid, thanks!

Worth it!”
This place is so snuggly. The staff is very friendly and helpful—they gave me a map of the area in English and helped me figure out the bus to take to go Senjogahara in the morning. The room I had had beautiful fall leaves right outside the window so I could enjoy the autumn foliage without leaving my room! The hotel itself is a little far away from the station but super easy to get to by bus. And it’s ridiculously close to all the sightseeing landmarks in Nikko proper! It’s close to the river as well so you can enjoy the sound of the river. Oh! And there are onsen style bathrooms so you can properly relax after a long day of hiking! I would definitely stay again!

Natural hot sprung is great!”
Even the size is for private, the hot spring is great to heel. The master introduced me a night time open restaurant. That is helpful for tourists.

Fantastic Accommodation with very friendly and helpful lady boss”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Turtle Inn Nikko. It was a wonderful experience for us. The room was spacious for 2 of us and the shared toilets were nearby our room. We did not expect a Japanese style bathroom but we truly enjoyed it. It was akin to onsen and we were surprised to find it in Turtle Inn. The lady boss is always so polite and cheerful. She even gave each of us a New Year gift on the day we checked out. It was so lovely and thoughtful. Thank you Turtle Inn!

Cosy, clean, with hot spring”
We very much enjoyed our stay here. We had basic japanese style room with 3 futons and a table. Towels, bathroom kimonos and slippers were provided as well as bathroom accessories. The place is facing the river and forest, we slept with the window open, very fresh clean air. The room smelled a bit, for some reason many of these types of hotels have it's strange smell, but nothing too bothering, you notice it only when entering the room. The toilets and bathrooms are shared and spotless clean. The bathrooms have a bath tub with local hot spring, very relaxing after full day hiking in the cool autumn weather. They serve nice breakfast, but otherwise no restaurant. There are many places, 2 within few minutes walking, many others by bus or maximum 30 minutes walking when the bus has longer intervals. Hot and cold water is always available, also complimentary green tea. You can buy some cup noodles, use microwave and some basic dishes - plates, cutlery.. Staff was very friendly and helpful, the lady gave us tips for traveling. But be careful when you go, during the changing leaves season Nikko town gets crowded and jammed. Don't forget to get Nikko pass, it pays off. Do go for the walk by the creek, there are stone statues 10 minutes from the hotel, magical place.

Turtle Inn Nikko = Adequate”
The Turtle Inn Nikko served all the needs that were required of it but it went no further. The price was a bit steep ($100/night for Western style w/ 2 beds). The staff was nice and helpful. If you are looking for luxury go elsewhere, but if you are looking for somewhere to lay your head down at night this is just fine.

A pleasant stay!”
The owners were friendly and hospitable, making our one night stay warm and cozy. They can communicate well in English too! During check-in, the hostess even gave us a map and a quick run down of the different bus stops and points of interest in the vicinity. The rooms and facilities were simple but clean and well kept, and the onsen bathroom was lovely. We also opted to eat breakfast in the inn for 1000 yen; it was a fairly simple English-style breakfast (with delicious fresh fruits) and was pretty filling. The nearest bus stop was a short 5 min away, and Toshogu Shrine was about 15 min away. If you’re arriving at night/after sunset, the road leading from the bus stop to the inn is really dark... So if you can, try to get there before sunset.

Great economy lodging”
Our room was spotless. The staff were very helpful for all our needs. The hot tub room were fun. The coffee and breakfast were good. The location was very good, just a short walk to the temples. Only small draw back is the bathroom was small with a big step down. We needed breakfast early one day and they were very accommodating and helped us with taxi and bus questions. Definitely we would stay again when we come back to Nikko.

Location is great for morning walks”
Though a bit of a walk to Tobu Nikko and JR Nikko, the place was rather beautiful for morning strolls as the it is beside the river and quite close to Kanmanga-fuchi Abyss. Will stay again. Wished though that the dinner option was available again.

Good location to visit World Heritage sites”
The hotel is in a great location to visit the three Unesco World Heritage sites. It is a fifteen minute walk to the base of the path to Toshugu Shrine, Futurasan Shrine and Rinnoji Temple. Restaurants close early at night and the hotel was a convenient five minute walk to two restaurants. The staff were very helpful with giving directions, suggestions and calling for taxis. It is a ten minute taxi ride from the Nikko Tobu train station to the hotel. The hotel was clean and well kept. Note that bathrooms are shares but they were clean.

Perfect stay”
There was not any slightest thing to complain. This place is perfect for a traveller. Just about 50 meters away from the station. Hotel sign was big and visible at night. Staffs were extremely friendly, caring, informative and helpful. Two private onsens added a great relaxed time after my full hiking days. Clean with kitchen and a bar for my meals and everything necessary was provided. Exceptional!

Really helpful owner!!”
This place is located just 20 mins walk away from the shrines area, and 10 mins walk from the bus stop. Owner is super helpful (and could speak decent English) - I was thinking of a day-trip to Oze, but he managed to point out to me the flaws of my plan, helping me to avoid a disaster! Also, this hotel has, to my surprise, 2 private hot bath, which was a nice bonus.

Great place”
We stayed one night in the triple room. The futon are very confortable, the room is spacious for Japan and very clean, we loved to have our own yukata to go to the japanese baths. The location is great, very close to the main attractions and temples, and close to the bus stop to the train station. We really recommend the place, we loved it !

Friendly and helpful family run ryokan, comfortable rooms with the lovely sounds of a running river and birdsong. Fabulous location close to World Heritage temples and Toba buses which will take you to the main cultural and natural sights. Highly recommended.

Great value”
I really liked the Japanese style room. The place is very clean and in a very nice area. My room was just a bit noisy from the river, other than that I really enjoyed my stay. The staff are really nice and helpful.
