Ala Balinese Hotel”
Situated close to the beach but has no direct access. We were told when asked that hotel provides auto to the beach. There is a road outside the entrance of the hotel leading to the beach, we walked. The less than 1 km road is sloppy, hence returning got to hike up. Stayed in a suite, second floor, wonderful seafront view. Breakfast was sumptuous, though not a big spread. The vermicelli upma was especially very well done, yum and worth the mention. Could have more varieties of Keralite cuisine and fruits. Had chai and kulcha in the evening, equally delish. There is an infinite pool. Spa and Ayurveda services available with an in-house doctor. The staff are warm and hospitable, great hosts. Front desk Ms. Neha is one such pleasant and charming person. The place is kept clean and very green, making it eyesome. However, the rooms need lots of upkeeping and maintenance. For FabIndia fans, there is an outlet nearby.
The best place to spend leisure. ”
I should appreciate the hotel staff for making us feel special when you travel miles away. The food is quite expensive at the restaurant in the hotel and also nearby ones, but the quality is very high. Overall the hotel is such a heaven like feel for us. Just wish return back anytime if possible.
It was a good stay minus some minor cleanliness issues that was rectified by the staffs. Yes we would go there again as we found that the female staffs were extremely helpful and i was very impressed with the empowerment of women in terms of promotion. Kudos to the company for recognising women who are ambitious and hardworking and promote them accordingly.
Good stay but limited rooms”
We wanted to live there for 2 days but ended up leaving the hotel in a days time as they had no availability of rooms :) We ended up living in Leela Kovalam for a day which turns up a better deal for us!
The hotel was generally excellent, rooms great, clean and well looked after. Restaurant and cafe both lovely with good selection of meals for all occasions. Note that alcohol is not served. All staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful, and made the stay relaxing. The pool area is great, and enjoyable. Nothing to do with the hotel but we didn’t enjoy the surrounding Kovalam area, finding the beach and frontage scrappy and a bit rundown.
Nice to enjoy ”
Actually I has stay in hotel for couple hourse but i like it but I has notice the cost of Resturent minbar and transportation was very high compring to same or higher sanders hotel . I was not use any facilities of hotel but it seem very nice .
One of the best hotels in Kovalam”
Great stay, rooms are clean and state of the art BUT there are 3 rooms categorized as "sea view" that are actually next to the pool/ restaurant with No privacy at all- except for those 3 rooms, excellent hotel.
Not good value ”
This hotel is not on the beach. You either have to get a car down a steep hill and back or walk it, which takes about ten minutes. The hotel is quite dated, apart from the front exterior. Despite booking a suite we had problems with the air conditioning and fridge not working and this was only sorted out after a couple of days of asking. This is the worse hotel we have stayed at in India, yet the most expensive.
Stayed December 2018. There was some renovations taking place during our stay but the management tried to make our stay enjoyable. We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent the best tandoori chicken we had ever eaten! The staff were all helpful and did everything possible to make the stay enjoyable. Vignesh the accommodation manager ensured our stay was very comfortabl. The waiting staff were excellent and special thanks to Delish who made our last night so memorable. He also introduced us to the local cuisine at breakfast every morning. The pool was about 16m and ok for a swim. The hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the beach going downhill back uphill. You could get a tuk tuk up the hill for a few rupees, but we enjoyed the walk. The room we stayed in was sea facing with a large balcony and was very clean and spacious. There is a bar on site with happy hour every day which was buy one get one free good service and very nice cocktails. We would definitely return
Great place but problems with A/C”
Location and staff were great. The A/C in my room was hardly working. It took 2 days for the issue to be corrected and even then it was not working great. However the room and facilities otherwise were great
We had a wonderful stay for four days at the hotel. Staff was courteous, polite and extremely helpful. We were upgraded to a superior room with a beautiful balcony. However, as the property is spread over a huge plot of land overlooking the sea, the annexe building is pretty secluded.
Excellent Hotel in Kovalam”
Stayed at the hotel for 10 nights and had a most excellent stay. We had a suite (room 902) with a ocean view, the room was very clean and maintained well on a daily basis. The hotel is a five minute walk from the hotel and for those who do not like walking a free shuttle is available from the hotel. Breakfast had a varied choice and great service from the staff. I would recommend eating in the Catamaran Restaurant as the food is very delicious and one again the service from staff was excellent. My wife and I had a wonderful stay and would certainly consider a return in the future.
Fantastic location, beautiful hotel, poor maintenance and staff ”
The hotel is beautifully designed and laid out wonderfully. The rooms are wonderful, facilities are great and the location is fantastic. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms are dismal, at best. There are stains on the walls in the room, water and other brown marks in the bathroom. Trash cans in the bathroom are dirty, the curtains doesn’t look like they are washed. The sheets had stains and we had to ask for them to be changed. Also, the phones in our room didn’t work, and we stayed in the Annex. We needed to go to the main building every time we wanted anything. Staff don’t respond with any sense of urgency - they take their time when asked for anything, and sometimes forget to your request. One great aspect of the hotel is the wonderful tea time snacks from 4-6 in the Catamaran hotel.
Nice property Near to Beach”
This is not a five star hotel, may be 3 star. I had got the room adjacent to the main building. The pool was awesome. Breakfast spread was really good. You can order for omelette or dosa and it will be served from their live counter. The beach is just 5 minutes walk. Overall recommended to stay.
Amazing stay ”
I spend 8 nights with my family in the turtle on the beach in kovalam and we really had a wonderful stay. Thanks to all the staff. Especially thanks to RK and Neha at the reception for they were always very helpful. Thanks to Rejin and to al the breakfast team for the wonderful breakfast and there kindness and a special thanks to Aldrin who kept our room always very clean.
This hotel is like a 3 star hotel...not even like a 4 star hotel at all”
Disappointing things 1) Annex Standard Room not up to the mark and in different building which is almost at the end of hotel premises and seems abandon 2) Don't book a room if photos of room not given 3) Too much mosquitos in the room 4) Too many sockets for devices but very few working properly 5) They not provided Ketaly and other items for hot water/tee/coffee until I asked 6) Internet wifi not working propely 7) swimming pool also not good...two much insect inside water 8) connecting path of main building and annex building not very good. Good Things 1) Friendly staff 2) Good Resturent food 3) Good Location Final Suggestion: Not value of money of my stay. May be main building rooms will be good which is near the reception/Pool.
I did enjoy that week in Turtle of the Beach”
Everything was more than OK for us. All our expectations were more than fulfilled. However you need to be aware when booking this hotel that this hotel is not directly at the beach even if the name of the hotel kind of indicates this. It's about 500m to the beach (shuttle bus available). Remember this when booking so you are not disappointed later... We would recommend this hotel for leisure.
Old, outdated "5*" hotel”
The hotel has the nominal facilities to carry 5 stars. However, maintenance and value for money is not there. I paid 12K Rupees, the value I got is not even half. Just a few points: - arriving 4 am in the morning, room AC is not working - breakfast until 10:30 - they do not refill from 10 onwards - a minor one: coffee from a machine is extra cost - foreign hair on the bed and in the bath - no bathrobe and slippers (needed to request specially) - next day room change (in the night) thought everything fine, great room!!!! - again, AC not working in the bedroom - bathroom not very clean - carpet seems not to be vacumed - room seems not to be checked before occupation: opening bath tubs brought brown water first (just means, no one does that before the guest arrives) The staff in general tries to help but it seems it is a handling issue from the top! Do not want to be a hotel critics but value for money is different!!
Lovely hotel with excellent facilities.”
Beautifully kept hotel on the hill up from Kovalum beach. Great to be in a peaceful spot where you could still hear and see the sea. Shuttle taxis and tut tut up and down the hill to the lively beach and shops. Perfect location. The kids favourite hotel in India.
stay at 🐢”
well to start with I had been here a year back so I thought to bring family here this year.Rooms we're big, awesome and partially hidden view of the sea(had chosen sea view). The tall trees hide the view but not totally.Rooms on higher floors have a better view.Food spread was nice but ala carte prices were bit on the higher side. Its near to a crowded sea beach and lighthouse.Unlike the Leela which is down that road,it doesn't have a private beach opening. The travel to this place was back breaking from kochi due to diversions and road construction work in patches.People should fly down to trivandrum if they can flight a decent flight and a decent time. Not much option to eat outside and shop.Didnt find a decent place to eat out plus it was far from hotel.People tend to go to kanyakumari which less than 100kms but again the journey is back breaking due to 2 lane road.Overall worth for only a one time getaway.
