Great stay. I will be back again.”
My first stay here was perfect from early check-in to late check-out, top-notch service (staff address you by name once they know you), and nicely renovated room and facilities. One of the places I stayed when I previously lived in Hong Kong was at the other end of MacDonnell Road so I have driven by this hotel many times but never visited, even though I occasionally shopped at the grocery store in the building across the street which also has restaurants and other shops (very convenient). Hotel location is a nice walk down the hill to Queen's Road Central past a basketball court. the US embassy, a church, and the Peak Tram station. Hong Kong Park is a 5 min walk from the hotel. Room was nicely sized with ample closet space on a high floor with harbour view as requested (unlike in many hotels, my request was actually acknowledged!) in a tastefully renovated room with cushioned bay window window seat (peaceful place for reading and light work), and useful kitchenette.

Wonderful experience”
As a frequent business traveller myself, I am always very particular about where I stay. This time we needed basic kitchen facility so my wife can cook for our 2 year old daughter during our 3 week stay in Hong Kong. None of the 5 star hotels we contacted were able to assist us. We ended up opting for this hotel based on the positive reviews. We are so glad we did. From the moment we arrived until we checked out, every member of staff we met from receptionists to housekeepers to restaurant staff were so friendly and helpful. The location is so convenient. I could not find anything negative to say. We certainly had a wonderful and memorable time staying at two MacDonnell Road. Raymond

Excellent Hotel”
We arrived by taxi and were immediately helped by Concierge who took care of our luggage. Reception was quick and courteous, and we were in our room in five minutes. The room was tidy and well laid out, the kitchenette was very user-friendly. Transportation to Central and Causeway Bay was very convenient, with taxis, public minibuses and buses available all day. Compared to the air pollution in other parts of Hong Kong, Two MacDonnell Road offers a breath of fresh air in every sense of the word. I have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Quiet location to take a breather from the bustling city”
Was catching up with work during my long stay in Hong Kong at 2 MacDonnell. While it is sure a bit off the city center, we WALKED to the Central and Admiralty MTRs instead of taking the shuttle or taxis. Taxi fares are inexpensive, ~$40 HKD (~$5 USD) to Causeway Bay for 4 adults+baby. ~$60 HKD to Hong Kong Station with 3 huge suitcases, stroller, and 2 backpacks. There are a couple restaurants across the street and in the building next to Fusion supermarket. The property is right across the street from the Hong Kong Botanical Garden, and close by the Hong Kong Garden on the other side. There's a shortcut to walk down to the city center through the basketball court and children's playground. The Champion Center is ~8 minutes by foot, and has Starbucks and a nice food court. Staff is attentive and friendly. Engineering staff came within 10 minutes on a late Sunday night to help me hook up my laptop to the TV so I can use it as my 2nd monitor. However, there is some mildew in the bathroom and the maintenance people weren't very good with caulking. Otherwise, the Junior Suite with kitchenette was roomy and very comfortable for my 1-week stay!

Exceptional”
Outstanding hotel with great views of mid-levels and relatively convenient location. The room is very nice within it's price range and furnishings are also quite new. All of the MacDonnell Road rooms I've stayed in have a induction stovetop and in the larger suite I was greeted with a very large bathroom which is a rarity in the cramped hotel layouts of Hong Kong. This would make a great, secluded stay for couples or families looking to live in a serviced-apartment style room in the neighborhood.

Junior Suite”
The junior suite provided my teenage daughter with a comfortable place to stay without feeling that we were living in each others pockets. The hotel does not offer twin bedding, only queen size beds, but it was no trouble to have an extra bed set up in the living area for my daughter. The suite has a kitchenette complete with stove top, microwave, kettle and toaster. Being able to prepare your own meals is a great way to avoid the extremely high cost of eating out in Hong Kong. Tea & Coffee were not provided in our room. There is a supermarket called 'Fusion' a few doors down the hill that has everything you need. Or for great pre-prepared meals try one of the many Marks and Spencer food outlets. The hotel is within walking distance to the Peak Tram, Botanic Gardens, Zoo, Hollywood Road and the Mid level escalator. If you don't fancy walking buy an Octopus card as you pass through the airport and catch the 12A bus from the stop outside the hotel to Central or Admiralty stations. The hotel has a morning and afternoon shuttle service on week days if you are working in the city. The hotel has an excellent laundry service which allows you to have your laundry washed in 8 pound lots rather than forcing you to pay a fee for individual items. It is a great place to stay if you want to be able to step out of your hotel and not be immediately surrounded by crowds of people.

First time in Hong King”
We were very pleased with our stay at 2 MacDonnell. The hotel is handy to everything and the staff very helpful and courteous. The room was quiet, modern and spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed ( except a toaster). It was great having a separate lounge area with a kitchenette. Maybe people in Hong Kong are not big coffee drinkers but when I asked for more sachets got given 2! Would certainly recommend this hotel.

Classy hotel with great value for money ”
This is definitely one of the best value for money hotels I’ve stayed at in Hong Kong. Located at the peak, the rooms are quiet yet with a nice view to the tramway or downtown Central/Admiralty. I especially enjoyed the kitchenette in the Junior suite I stayed at, and the welcome fruits and snacks offered. That was a very good gesture of the hotel. The hotel also has a high quality restaurant, Cafe 8, on the 8/F. I tried out the Thai semi buffet Sunday Brunch and the semi buffet weekday lunch there. Though not with a broad variety of food at the buffet, everything was fresh and delicious. And most of all, prices are very reasonable. I would even say it’s cheaper than majority of the restaurants in Central district. Staffs are very attentive and courteous. I would highly recommend this hotel to any types of guests, short stay or long stay.

Centrally located self service accommodation ”
Staff helpful with information and general help. Comfortable and spacious suites for HK standards. However, there should be a few more items provided in the suites for kitchen use like a tea towel, can opener, washing liquid. Suggestion as quite a few people have long stays - that should have self service laundry though note that there is reasonable laundry service by weight. I would commend the staff for their helpfulness and friendliness, especially the concierge staff. Not only were they helpful with luggage and with general information, they also made the effort to remember guests' names and remember their needs. An enjoyable stay even though it's up a hill which can be a track to walk to. There are shuttle services during peak times which is helpful. I recommend 2 MacDonnell Road for long term stays in Hong Kong as comfortable with great staff.

Surprisingly good”
I read the good reviews about this place before booking, but was actually not expecting much as the price was very low for HK (which is a very expensive city). I have stayed in cheap HK hotels before, and when I read that people said the room was "small" I assumed they meant small by HK standards. Its not. Its LARGE by HK standards - I was gobsmacked at the size of the studio. (For reference, most of the cheap hotels have about 6 inches spare around 2 sides of the bed and THATS IT. This room had room to walk all around the bed, room for a chair and table, a nice window seat and a nice view. A bathroom where you can sit on the toilet without your knees hitting the opposite wall - it was, in fact, very comfortable. Very well located for what I wanted (which was to be near HKU, I actually live in Hong Kong but about 1.5 hours away from here). It's not a 5 minute walk to Central, but I know HK so I knew whoever wrote that was talking rubbish. It's about a 10 minute walk into Admiralty and a little longer into Central - and a LOT longer on the way back up! (hint - catch a bus!). The walk up the hill is awful in hot weather but there are plenty of buses and taxis are very cheap so the location, being a little out of town, is actually much quieter than most of HK and more relaxing. I would certainly consider returning if I need another night on the Island.

Home away from home ”
We enjoyed our stay at 2MR very much. The room is clean and much more spacious than most of the other hotel room in Hong Kong. A “Fusion” supermarket just across the road which we can get pretty much everything. There is also a gym, a restaurant and self service laundry in the hotel. The free shuttle bus to Central during the peak hours is definitely a value added feature But the best is their 5 stars service, from front desk to the house keeping staff, so accommodating. A special thanks to Winnie who helped with our booking. Definitely will be back

Perfect hotel with amazing views”
I stayed at Two McDonnell Road for 4 nights and I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is located above the botanical gardens and has an amazing view over Central. It was great to wake up every day with that view. The rooms are very clean and spacious for Hong Kong standards. The service is really good and the staff very friendly. There is absolutely nothing I would complain about.

Two MacDonnell is an excellent find”
We have stayed in Hong Kong many times over nearly 30 years, but never used Two MacDonnell before. We were therefore pleasantly surprised to find this accommodation and will certainly be using it again. It had everything we wanted at the right price and excellent staff who went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

Good hotel with slightly sterile atmosphere in HK.”
I enjoyed 2 Macdonnell Road and have to applaud the hotel's cleanliness, the polite and attentive staff, and its commanding views over Hong Kong. My criticism, and it is a small one and perhaps more of a personal opinion, but I found the hotel lacking a bit of character. It was a bit sterile, it could've been in any city in any country on earth - only the TV channels let you know you were in Hong Kong. That's not a big knock on the place, as I'd stay there again.

Comfortable hotel and great value ”
Very pleased with this hotel overall. The room is a very good size and is centrally located. The hotel staff is friendly and speaks good Mandarin and English (and obviously Cantonese). This hotel is far better than those I've stayed in previously in Hong Kong and at a better price. My only complaint would be that the rooms are a little lacking in toiletries (no toothbrush, lotion, and a hair dryer that doesn't really work). And the WiFi is pretty slow and cuts out from time to time.

A wonderful experience”
We stayed in a junior suite for 10 nights and truly enjoyed it. We appreciated the space with a kitchenette and living room. Though we did not use the shuttle, it's nice to know that we'd use it, when needed. We love the location as it's not in the middle of the hustle and bustle but very convenient. It's a 15 min's walk to the Central District or the Pacific Place. The bus stop for public transportation including the regular bus and mini bus is just across from the hotel. The main peak tram station is only 5-10 mins away. Thank you for a perfect stay in Hong Kong and we'll surely recommend this hotel to our friends.

Nice hotel in a good location ”
This hotel is well located being about a ten or fifteen minute was from Central Station and the centre of the shopping and business district. It's also very close to the nightlife areas, Long Kuai Fong and Wan Chai. The rooms are quite small but clean and with a kitchenette. The upper floors (I was on 17) have good views over Hong Kong. There is a good room service menu and well priced although I did not sample from it. The breakfast area is nice with good views. There is a bet small Gym with a couple of treadmills, a stepper and weights machine. Whilst not a luxury hotel, it is comfortable and good value for money. It's strongest point is its location.

Exceptional”
Pros: - Convenient location with easy access to Central via free shuttle bus and local bus 12A. Taxis also frequently drive through MacDonnell Road. Supermarket and parks within walking distance (less than 5 minute walk) - Comfortable and clean rooms with fully equipped kitchenette (fridge, stove, microwave, cookware and silverware) and bath tub (perfect for bathing young children.) - Friendly and helpful staff. - Quiet neighborhood. - Relatively sound proof walls. Other information: - No central heating within rooms, but can request for extra blankets and portable heater from front desk at no extra charge.

Exceptional”
Had a wonderful time at this hotel. The room was clean, chic, modern and spacious for Hong Kong. We were upgraded, so couldn’t complain. The staff were also friendly, efficient and helpful. The place is next to Hong Kong zoological & botanical park, which is a nice walk to central. Wonderful place to stay for a few days.

Very spacious, good location, clean”
This place basically offers you a great serviced apartment. I stayed at their Standard Studio. It is very spacious for Hong Kong with a small kitchenette, dining table, and an arm chair in addition to a nice queen size bed. It is decorated in the classic style - very functional, clean, and nice in its own way. I had an excellent view of the city even though I was on the 12th floor. The location is very good but not right in the middle of everything. It is a walk up hill from the LKF area. I think it is pretty good since it is quieter and prettier. Also, there is a supermarket and a few really good restaurants right across the street. The hotel provides shuttle bus service to and from several locations like Admiralty, IFC, etc in the morning and evening for those who commute to work, which comes very useful. My only regret is not having booked it for a longer period (one of the negative reviews scared me wrongly!) because it really feels like a nice, real apartment.
