Find hotels near Union Place in Colombo, Sri Lanka

I travel to Colombo quite frequently, and normally stay at "standard" hotels. However, I decided to try an apartment for a change, and I was most pleasantly surprised to see that almost all the facilities that I use at hotels were available here too. Further, as I was travelling with family, it was most convenient to keep an eye on them, and yet leave them to their devices in this hotel. The security features were a bonus as we could allow the children to roam around with peace of mind. Supermarkets right next door meant we could pick up a few groceries and fix our own meals when we wanted to as there was a well equipped modern kitchen in the apartment. The view was breathtaking from the 30th floor, and the whole stay was most tranquil. It was most surprising for us to learn that when we wanted to extend our stay, and chose a 2 bedroom apartment, the hotel was quite happy to let us continue to stay in the 3 bedroom apartment we already were in...for the price of a 2 bedroom apartment! Bonus! And the 4 hour late checkout due to flight changes were much appreciated by the family! The courteousness of the staff must be mentioned. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any family who is looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay while they look around Colombo and do their shopping! This must be the best hotel experience I have had in Colombo.

Chose Uga Residence as our last place to stay before catching a night flight back home. Our choice to stay at this hotel was right. Hotel staff welcomed us with a great smile and let us check in early around 12pm well before the normal check-in time so that we can relax and do some last minute souvenir shopping at the nearby supermarket. The residence is situated in an area away from all the traffic and noise. There is a huge supermarket nearby (Arpico) for all the last minute souvenir shopping you might need. Across the street, you will find Spa Ceylon retail shop and salon. Luckily we were able to book a 90-minute course for couple and fully enjoyed every minute of the spa. It was one of the top spas we have ever been to! The restaurant Rare within the residence is not to be missed. The service, atmosphere, interior and even the BGM provided a wonderful dining experience. Residence by Uga Escapes will be the choice for our stay in our next visit to Colombo!

Despite booking through Agoda 9 months ago, and having payment charged a week before we arrived, we had yet to hear any response to our emails about check-in. In desperation I contacted the manager of this apartment through Booking.com. Imagine our family's horror to be arriving from NZ the next day, and to be told he had not taken any notice of this booking, as he had been having 'trouble with Agoda.' He did respond quickly after that offering us another apartment at Crescat Residences - which I have rated above. This was lower rated and I can see why - although it was in a great location, and was spacious, it was dirty, power fused out constantly. Lots of plugs and lights didn't work. There was a nice pool we could use, but nothing like the amazing pool complex we had booked Sky Lounge for. After promising we could move for the second night, surprise surprise, turns out we couldn't. Manager did send someone in to clean at the point, but this was fairly superficial.

It is a studio apartment. I came for a. Conference to be attended in Hilton r which is just 1 minute walk And whatever mentioned in the site was provided The stay was very comfort The pros are heart of the city ,business hub And all restaurants were very near and easily accessible all supermarkets were. Very close to this. And mr Zak Hussain was very friendly and helpful the cons are there was no lift and bathrooms were though clean., But small. Otherwise it is definite value for money. The bed are big and up to 4 people can be accommodated in room And the attentive friendly staff can arrange for any needs we can contact them , I would recommend this hotel

Hotel Nippon was a nice experience very close to Fort Train Station, in what seems to be an old converted commercial colonial building. It’s a nice place, but try to avoid the street-side rooms as they’re quite noisy. On a good note, the check-in was excellent and fast, and they offer an airport pickup. However, the pickup at $30 is quite expensive for the distance, but may be worth it after a long flight. Some hotels in the same area, however, charge even more as they all uniformly exaggerate the “long journey” from the airport. I was there only one night, but I can definitely recommend the whole grilled fish in their restaurant. It was an original preparation that really worked. Kudos to the chef! The breakfast was just so-so however, with nothing noteworthy to remark on, except that the coffee is very good. There’s also a bakeshop downstairs near the restaurant, and there’s a bar which I didn’t frequent. The room itself was great with a nice bed and bathroom with a good AC.

The family suite we booked was fantastic with well equipped kitchen, bed rooms and living room. Price is high but comparable to places around colombo. no eating places in the suites, no pool or gym though. A few mins walk to A food court called Urban Kitchen, with the best range of food I have seen. The prices are not cheap, but good is great. Shopping for clothes at Glitz next door. Very near the National Museum, which is highly recommended If you want to learn About Sri Lanka history

I stayed at this hotel for one night in November and it was probably the worst mistake of my whole Sri Lanka trip. For one day I decided to stay at a budget hotel and I found this to be an attractive place when I checked online. Pictures seem decent so I booked the hotel. The only thing good about this hotel is its location, other than that I regret staying there every minute till I checked out. First of all, there was only one guy managing the entire hotel. No room service person, no cleaner etc. I had to go down to the reception to get my tasks done or to get something. (Iron etc) The room was not clean and there were bugs and lizards wandering around the room. Also they had no hot water in the shower/bathroom. The hotel was empty and totally shady, the only staff member present at the reception was creepy as hell and he kept poking and asking unnecessary questions and he even asked us to give him the liquor bottle he saw in our room. Don't waste your money staying there!

Our whole stay was tainted by the owner demanding a cleaning fee of $30. Although now on the booking page it was not mentioned in my emails. He whatsapped a number of times re this. The apartment is large and has a well equipped kitchen and good aircon. It is not a serviced apartment but rather a privately owned apartment in a block- hence pretty tricky for the taxi to find. The pool area is well laid out and good to cool off at and there is a gym. Location is quite far out from the centre, not too many local eating places though pizza hut and KFC are near if that's your thing! Plenty of tuktuks.
