Location, location, location!”
Taipei is a fun city, so there was no short of places to go. United is just a super convenient hotel, anywhere we can't walk to or take a subway to, we just jump in a cab right out front. But this converted old tobacco factory, what a gem!! There is this big area, where old warehouses, office building have been nicely converted and there seemed to be always lots of art events and activities going on. Kids don't care, they just love running around in the open area! Then there's a new mall building I believe is managed by Eslite Bookstore. Now this is a very nice nice mall, with lots of nice cafes/restaurants and stores, and of course Eslite Bookstore. Ok, our room, we stayed at one of the bigger suites, with a pretty big living area. I think it has been some years since the hotel was renovated but the room has been really well kept. Only complaint for the room is in the bathroom. Our shower room has no door, maybe they thought it was big enough, well, it's not and the floor right outside the shower gets very wet. And there's nowhere to hang towels! Only one hook behind the bathroom door. Very inconvenient. But we will definitely come back to United Hotel when we visit Taipei next, which I hope is soon, Taipei is such a fun city and I would like my kids to know Taiwan and Taipei better!!
Great hotel with nice location and value”
I was born in Taipei, when I decide to have a weekend escape with tight budget, I thought about united hotel. It located between east and xinyi district, which is the main reason that I choose this one. I like east district which fulls of local taiwanese vibe and small streets to explore, but sometimes, could be a bit too noisy. I like xinyi district, where fulls of nice clubs and restaurants, but you cant catch local feeling. Thats why I choose united hotel and it kinda feels like japanese hotel, staff are very polite and friendly! The room is clean and very comfy. After late night party, you can find some decent restaurant nearby!
Big room, big bed, great service and good price”
we stayed at united hotel taipei early may 2012. it is a good clean hotel with very good service. airport bus, fay gou, flying dog, stops in front of this hotel, not an official stop, but will stop here by request. we did not know it, paid nt$1250=us$43 for taxi ride from airport, bus would've been much more roomy, comfortable, good view and far cheaper. taxi to airport is nt$1000. well trained polite and professional staff, unload and delivered luggage, opened the door or held elevators for guests, many are always there to assit. big clean room, about double size of average hotel rooms, clear modern designs from decades ago but stood the test of time and well maintained. unusual huge bed, biggest i have seen anywhere, much wider. very big white marble bathroom with very powerful shower. large free breakfast spread with complete chinese, japanese and western selections. free good speed wifi in room. 24 hrs coffee and tea in lobby. short wait for elevators, takes under a minute to get taxi upfront. subway around the corner with 3-5 minutes walk. 7-11 and starbuck few doors down. many city bus stops in front or around the corner. many restaurants, shops and banks next to hotel, but not in the center of hot shopping area which is about 15 minutes walk away. big construction of stadium across the street, loud noise started at 8am, not a problem for us, as we spent hours watching the construction work. our room face the front with a clear view of the 101 building and the mountains. excellent hotel in taipei.
Awesome location with spacious room”
I have stayed in this hotel more than 20 times and always think it has one of the best locations. Just 1 min walk away from Suen Yat San train station, which is one stop away from Cityhall (where 101 and all the new malls are) and one stop away from "Eastern district" with sogo and all the boutique shops and cafes (and of coz Luxy). The area by the hotel is GREAT too with LOTS of good restaurant. My fav resto Kiki and Ching Zhang Chinese Beef Eatery are steps away from the hotel. It's not the cheapest hotel you can find in Taipei, but rooms are spacious with big bathrooms. Breakfast is awesome (although in Taipei you may want to save the stomach from eating too much). It recently installed wifi in the room as well (BIG PLUS!!) since they only used to have wifi in the lobby and cable in the room. This adds more convenience for guests definitely!! Service is usually pretty good @ the hotel too even though they change their staff pretty frequently. I have to say tho after these few years the hotel has become slightly older. It was great and new when I first stayed there, and now I can't say that it's THAT new anymore. But everything else is great. Once again this is a hotel that's on a higher price range in TW's standards but offers great location and spacious room.
Popular hotel with great location”

Good location, good value!”
We booked the United Hotel on a popular booking site and it didn't disappoint. The 2 most important points for us were excellent; the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern with excellent water pressure. There was even a claw foot tub AND shower in our room! But the tipping point for us to book was the breakfast buffet. And it was large and plentiful! Since we live & work in Asia, having a few mornings of a western breakfast is a treat. There were 12 hot dishes offered, roasted ham, fresh waffles and fried eggs, fruit, cereal, dumplings, Taiwanese fried noodle, 2 soups, desserts and more! Sure the hotel is a bit "tired" but we handled it just fine. And the United is a GREAT location; like another reviewer mentioned, right next to the Blue line, and walking distance to the Taipei 101.
Good hotel at a great location!”
We stayed at United Hotel in May 2018 and were very pleased with it overall. The buffet breakfast was outstanding and offered a variety of healthy Western foods to choose from. The fitness facilities are on the top floor and have an adequate selection of weights. The Sauna works great as well. Location is approx 15 mins away from Taipei 101 and is very central to everything we wanted to visit. We would certainly stay at United Hotel once again if we were planning a trip to Taipei!
Great place with cheap price”
The location is good as the metro is just few minutes away. Nice breakfast shops nearby the hotel. THe price is relatively cheap even if i come during christmas holiday. As I do not like to live in xiemendeng and taipei station such crowded district, I think the united hotel is a place that I like. I will try to book to stay here again in the future.
Best service and professional experience I had in Taipei”
I felt well served and well rested!!!!! The staffs are trained extremely well, showing the level of professionalism that will have you stay again with The United Hotel. The gatekeeper even got us a cab and made sure our luggages were loaded properly. The hotel has many staffs who rotate around the clock and look determined to make sure you have a good time. Great location and service The cons were: The hot water was great but the drain was slightly clogged, and the bed sheets were used and not replaced as they were visibly dirty (a staff came in to examine it carefully and sent couple photos to the coordinator to confirm the replacement of bed sheets)
A nice and comfortable place to stay”
I often visit Taipei and usually use United Hotel because its very close to Memorial Hall station and quite easy to get to Xinyi area, one of shopping district and also Taipei 101. As for this time I have arrived earlier than usual, before check-in time but they prepared my room in an hour, which was very nice. Overall I would say it's a great place for its price.
We recently stayed at United hotel for the new year countdown, which is a short distance from Taipei 101. The hotel upgraded our room from deluxe room to executive room and the room is big and spacious. The best part is that there was a good view of the Taipei 101 fireworks From our room and we need not go down and jostle with the crowd! We could watch the countdown in the comfort of our hotel room! The hotel also provided simple amenities such as cotton wool etc which not many hotels provide. We are really pleased with our stay there. It is just a short distance from sun yat Sen memorial hall station.
A comfortable stay with unexpected upgrade”
Every time I visit Taipei I use this hotel because its great accessibility to MRT station, shopping district and some night-out scenes. Though I booked superior room, it seemed there was overbooking and they prepared a executive room on top floor. It had a great 101 view which I really liked. I was lucky this time but every time I use this hotel, I feel staffs are very friendly but also polite. They have some variation for breakfast buffet, free wi-fi...I must say quite good enough for both business and holiday visitors.
I chose United based on recommendations saying it had a good location, friendly staff and great breakfast and all of those turned out to be true. It served as a great base for exploring Taipei and northern Taiwan. Tried room service for dinner once and it was delicious (if a bit pricey). The deluxe double room has a bathtub and separate enclosed shower which was nice. Our room looked out on a old apartment building, so we just kept the curtains closed. Worth noting that I made a reservation with Agoda that showed free breakfast but they made my reservation such that breakfast wasn't included. I was able to get that fixed so that breakfast was provided, but it took time and some frustration. Check your reservation carefully if you use Agoda!
Downtown hotel with fantastic accessibility”
united hotel is a great place to stay for a short trip to taipei. i have enjoyed thoroughly during my stay. room is of decent size, unlike other downtown hotels which compromises on room size. hotel buffet breakfast is fantastic with a wide spread of international breakfast. although the room does not come with good view, the location of hotel is great and mrt is within 3 min walking distance.
Great location and staff!”
Great customer experience here. All staff understands english. They are easy to communicate with. Hotel is just across the Sun yat sen memorial hall and MRT station. Also a bus stop on a stone throw distance. What we love most is the view of the Taipei 101 from our room. Room were kept clean with good standards. The bed are comfy too! Though the review here about airconditioning is true. The temp control in room is just a dummy one. Nonetheless it didnt affect our stay here. Will surely comeback here when we go back to TPE soon!
Excellent Hotel ”
I am a regular visitor to Taiwan and while in Taipei stay only at United Hotel. The staff is very helpful and courteous and whenever possible they provide an upgrade. The rooms are very neat and clean.
Convenient location and great view”
The location of this hotel is conveniently located 10min walk from shopping district and 15min walk from Taipei 101. The MRT(subway) is right around the corner. Our friends' rooms have a perfect view of Taipei 101. Lovely night scenery.
Good at a discount ”
At first they put me in a smoker room that was REALLY BAD. They tried telling me they were over booked but a little persistence got me a new room. I was very greatful for the front desk staff. I got the room for about $100 usd and it was worth that price. Wouldn't pay much more then that. Many hotels to pick from in the area with same amenities in the rooms. But overall it was a good experience, location (a block from the MRT and 10 minute walk from Taipei city hall and 101 area) and great value at the discounted room rate.
Spacious bathroom but small bedroom”
My wife and I stayed here for 8 nights during the time that we returned to Taiwan for having our wedding reception in Taipei. We chose the hotel because it was very close to where my parents stayed in Taipei. The hotel is situated in a very convenient area, with subway stop (Sun Yat Sen Memorial Station) very close by, and a number of bus stops very close by. The hotel appears quite old, however, but otherwise clean and very quiet. I'm a light sleeper but never got woken up (we stayed on the 16th floor). The bathroom was very big, with a bathtub and a shower. However, the bedroom was fairly small, it might be only as big as the bathroom. You could fit a king size bed in and not much else. The staff was courteous and polite. The free breakfast is buffet style. It's good on the first few days but it does get old after awhile. I think it is a good choice if the hotel is near where you need to be.
Really Good Hotel”
We had our wedding reception back in 2007 in this hotel. We have gone back a few times. The hotel location is fantastic, right outside the Sun Yat Sen memorial and on the main underground line for Taipei City. Breakfast is awesome, fantastic selection. The gym is reasonable with dumbbells up to 50lb, good enough, they also have a sauna in the gym (near the changing rooms), 18th floor. The rooms vary in size but a lot of the bathrooms have a victorian style bath, and only a few have a modern power shower. Personally I think the bath style is dangerous and water gets everywhere. Room cleaning is rather forced and quite early, but it's not a major issue. Staff are really helpful, will go back to this hotel at some stage.
