close to everything,decent in price and stay for the budjet traveller”
Hotel is a bit run down but the fact is that its one of the oldest hotels in Koh Chang, so acceptable on this.The rooms and bathrooms were clean, a small TV with loads of international channels,Wifi only in the lobby area which is a minus, mini fridge,and a working aircon (old), what else you need, but sometimes the aircon regulator messes up. The bed/sheets pillows towels,were clean, comfy 7/10, The balcony is big, just faced the pool but they have no direct sea view rooms though its a bit misleading when my booking says "sea view". or if you have great eyes you can view the sea through all those trees around.The beach access is thru a nearby private property ( coconut trees, ponds, ducks ) which is abt 50 meters from hotel, and from that gate to the beach is a 5 minute brisk walk or (1 min by motorbike) gets you to klong prao beach, which is nice, calm, sandy and a lot of privacy.The management should consider atleast to put some lights in that walk way property as its a bit scary after dark while returning from the beach,so better hire a motor bike (200-250 baht /day) from near by shops along the main road just a walk away from the hotel (5 mins) you get lots of shops, also Tesco is just out there.Throughout my 4 nights stay it was just cleaned only once, though I told the front office- may b the staff is not so competent.The lady receptionist could speak a bit of English but not the guy.I preferred this area klong prao as it was easily accessible to all of the beaches of koh chang, and for dinner you can always ahead to the kaibae town.The pool was clean, and you can swim even at around 10 pm, and bring your own drinks from outside and a lot of privacy, but sometimes this hotel is crowded with locals and I saw a corporate gathering/party in the dining hall at night where I could hear loud karoke being sung, but it didn't bother me, it was infact a bit lively.The breakfast was so-so, bit poor on the side, same juice, same bread, jams, butter, fried rice, some

Great value budget accommodation”
Pros: fair price, very clean room, pool, 5 minutes to main road for food and services, 10 minutes walk through vacant green space to Klong Prao Beach. Can do long walks on this beach. Lots of green space around, very quiet, large room with wardrobe, desk, tv, Table and chairs, clothes rack for drying towels, beach towels, mini fridge, a/c, daily service if needed, balcony. Daily water. Cons: some repairs needed . Our bathroom door latched inside because the latch is coming off; some linens need to be replaced... they can no longer be washed clean; pool needs a cleaning around the edge. Staff at front desk could engage more with guests.

Koh Chand V J Residence”
If you are looking for a budget hotel on Koh Chang and don't need beach access then this is ideal. I got the best room I ever stayed in on Koh Chang. The hotel is very modern with a nice pool. The staff were most helpful and friendly and could not do enough for me. The only downside is that its a little out of the way situated behind the Temple on Koh Chang. This was no problem as I hired a motorbike for the duration of my stay. If you dont have transport its just a 5 minute walk to the main road where you can pick up a taxi in either direction. In all I would say this hotel is 4 star at 2 star prices.

The hotel seems to get a bad rap from previous reviewers. However, I found the hotel clean enough, cool enough A/C, no "funny smells" or water drainage problems, and curiously - no "cremations" taking place (as a few reviewers mentioned). Yes, 100 meters distant is a large Buddhist temple. But from previous comments, one would have imagined a virtual "Aushwitz" operation taking place (I think the reviewer gave hotel a 2.0 rating). The pool was large and clean. The staff was able to give me a room at 0700 hrs check-in. They have a tram service 4x daily to their sister hotel on the beach (with free access to another big beautiful pool and beach BBQ dinners and romantic islands offshore). Another reviewer commented "too many Russian guests". I say: Russian ladies are quite tall, blonde and slim - what is this complaint about? People are beautiful. Anyway, what does anyone expect for $16 /night (including Agoda's fees)?

Great Accommodation With Surprise Bonus”
The Residence is a four-story, modern building with a nice pool in front. The surprise is the link between it and VJ Hotel, which backs onto a private beach, so Residence guests can get a free shuttle anytime to the beach(about 2-3 km away)and free deck chairs there and take the shuttle back to the Residence. Also, the Residence called a motorbike dealer to come to the Residence so we could rent a bike. We didn't have to go to them(price is the same). The rate we paid - 800 baht/night, including breakfast, was a bargain and we'd do it again! Highly recommended.

A happy resident of the Residence”
Having read other reviews of this place, I was really unsure what to expect and only booked two nights there. After my first night I was more than happy to book another 5 nights there. The hotel itself was clean and practical. We were surprised to find that we had 4 fresh bottles of water in our frdge every morning and a clean room to come back to, with clean linen every day. The pool is also very clean and so quiet...just what we wanted. The area of Klong Prao isn't the busiest place on the island, but it has some great places to eat and its only B80 max. to get a taxi to another area for the day/night. What more can I say? I'd come back here again without question.

Had a very relaxing stay at VJs residence. Rooms very clean and large, nice balcony. Security guard, hotel reception staff lovely people. Great breakfast. Good air conditioning and tv. A bit far to the beach although hotel offers a shuttle service to their other hotel on the beach which has pool as well.

Great stay at VJ Residence Hotel”
VJ Residence Hotel is not on the beach, but it is just a short walk to the beach. The rooms are roomy and clean and well maintained. The staff is very helpful. If you want a hotel not on the main drag and a very peaceful place, VJ Residence Hotel is your place. Very reasonable rates compared to beach front. There are no bars, no restaurant (except lunch), but a nice pool and very close to all the above.

When I call direct to hotel they said room unavilable then i just seazrch by agoda and booked. So I have this room for agoda.The fare cheaper than I called about 30%less. This hotel good for budget class. They also have another part of hotel that we can sepnding time at beach with big swiming pool. All staff very friendly and funny. All of them can speak English. So I am very happy about this trip and next time I will trying another hotel at Koh Chang with agoda again.

Cheap, good and cleanish”
I don't know why people are complaining so much. This hotel was cheap, had free breakfast and a nice swimming pool. Not close to the beach, takes 10 min to walk through a private area. Or take your bike. Close to restaurants and everything you need to plan trips. We had someone come to change our towels everyday around 11am. The bathroom didn't have good ventilation so it was a bit stinky and wet, but that's my experience with budget accommodation. Had a lovely balcony with pool views. The room is also quite big compared to other accommodation. The aircon worked well. Great budget accommodation. Don't expect much.

Clean and comfortable describe this hotel. The pool was well kept and view was superb. Just a short walk from VJ Residence's beach, we enjoyed every minute. Breakfast was sufficient and the service then was wonderful as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and made the most of the accomodations.

Nice, clean older hotel in the Klong Phao Beach area.... Not on the main road.and not on the beach.... Ocean view rooms view the ocean at a distance.... The pool is OK and cleaned daily.... Breakfast is basic but filling..... Breakfast only, so you will need to go out for other meals, but it is a short walk to cafes, etc.....

We really liked this hotell because of the lokation, near the beach and they had a pool. It was really quiet and the staff was super, they helpt us with everything we needed. The rooms were very nice and clean. So we are really happy with everything and can really recomend this hotell.

i found this hotel very pleasant. was not as close to beach as i first thought but was not that far as there are beaches every where on koh chang.the rooms were big and very clean the staff were really good.breakfast was also very good.when we stayed here there were very few other guests which is not a bad thing. the pool at the front of the hotel was also clean and well kept.would stay here next time i visit for sure.

Cheap rooms”
We made our reservations last minute on New Years weekend, probably the busiest weekend of the year. This was one of the few places on Koh Chang that had any rooms avaialable. I have to say that we got at least what we paid for, and probably a little more. The breakfast was pretty decent, rooms were clean. Bathroom was minimal, but it did have hot shower and AC int eh room, which is about all I need. We had our own vehicle, so getting around was not too bad, but would have been nicer to have had a nice beach and decent shopping within walking distance.

Booked through Agoda - were led to the pool, with a large number of photos and territory. In fact - uncleared, broken-down room: broken flashing light, an open bottle of water in the fridge from the previous guest on the floor cork from beer, hair in the bed, empty bottles from under the shampoo in the bathroom and use dirty sponges - close. The hotel at that time was 90% of available rooms: But we were given a room on the 3rd floor, overlooking the back yard, trash, where there is an outdoor toilet, and through both walls - neighbors with the child. Guys, do not book it if finances allow you to select something for 1000 baht. on Chang full of hotels for this price with breakfast, a nice and with excellent location. It appeared that the hotel owner had fled, and the staff due to lack of guests stopped working and still turn a blind eye ...
