We have just come back from an amazing honeymoon stay at Vaka. It was our first time in the Maldives, we stayed there for 6 days. As this was our honeymoon, and a surprise for my wife, I wanted to make sure it was absolutely amazing. I researched all the maldives resorts and islands extensively, north, south, east and west. Considered every option, and am glad to say choosing Vaka was an excellent choice. I had booked through agoda.com with special offer. Everything went smoothely with no problems. Our stay was amazing since we landed in Male airport. We were warmly greeted by vaka representative holding our names as soon as we cleared the routine security checks. He led us to to the sea plane and took our bags and gave us our sea plane tickets which we bordered within half an hour. The plane landed few minutes away from the island and speed boat from vaka island collected us immediately. The island looked surreal, clean and spotless beach with lush vegetation. We were greeted with cold refershing towel and ice cream. Check in went smoothly. I went for a water villa. I totally recommend it cause there is a big difference between a beach villa and water villas. The water villas are AMAZING. They are spacious, clean, have fabulous views and totally private. They had retractable slides with Bath tub over looking the ocean, private deck where we could sit and watch colourful all type of fish day or night. The resort kindly gave us a day stay beach villa on check out day because we had late flight departure. I can easily say water villas are much nicer even though the beach villas were nice and clean too. Hotel service was amazing, no flaws reported. The buffet and food was awesome, high standard buffets which change every day. International buffets, Maldivian, srilankan and Italian. There was pasta available every day with different fillings which you choose and the chef cooks it ready for you. Amazing fresh fish and sashimi.
Satisfaction over the Blue”
Vakarufalhi is an island down south from Male. It can be reached by seaplane within 30-45 minutes. This trip was a last minute decision trip. We booked the hotel 6 hours before our 5 am flight. Since we booked this in midnight which was 10 pm in Vakaru time, we did not get a seat on a seaplane on the next day. We reached Vakaru the next day at 1 pm local time. If we are booked properly, we would get on the 2.30 pm seaplane. The worst solution to be taken is catch next morning seaplane. This resulted some chaos how to reach Vakaru Island. However, the Vakaru seaplane representer at Male Airport was very helpful. He tried to organised a domestic plane (which would cost more than seaplane and could not land direct on Vakaru), so we tried a better one. Next option we had a speed boat going there which would cost extra USD900. Then I asked nicely if there could be some other option. Cut the story short on arguments and waiting hour, at 2.00 pm he found a seaplane that could drop by on nearby island and picked up with a speed boat - if they have enough seats. Then I said "Ok, lets try it". After got a reply from the other end of the phone, the man said to me "Ok, we have enough seats and you can be dropped by straight on the island". Phew... thank God for the miracle. Apparently the seaplane we boarded was designated to drop and pick up on several islands. Once we got to Vakaru everything was a heaven. Blue and clear ocean, friendly staff, good food with lots of daily variation, room was made up when we were not in the room (somehow they knew), good massage. Everything else was excellent. We stayed on the over water villa. We enjoyed the room as it was big for the two of us. Had balcony and stairdown to the ocean. The bathroom was spacious and very kept clean.
One of the best resorts in the Maldives”
vakarufalhi is one of the best four star resorts in the maldives which we visited, in the remote corner of south ari atoll, 90km away from the airport, takes 25 mins via sea plane ride to get there. had a water villa which was fantastic. views were amazing, the house reef had alot of life and food was fantastic.
Unforgettable experience in paradise”
When we first got to the hotel, we were told that the room type we requested was fully booked for that evening. However they told us we would be transfered to their sister resort maafushivaru and be put up in a room equivilent to the one we had paid for. We didn't mind as this gave us the chance to explore a different island for free. Both resorts were amazing, but my favorite would still be Vakarufalhi. We took a water villa room, which was simply amazing. Well maintained, clean and very spacious. We celebrated a birthday there and the staff were sweet and thoughtful. While we were gone, they redecorated our bed and gave us beautiful touches all over the room. Breakfast lunch and dinner was all good to us. We had an assigned waiter for the duration of our stay who was really attentive and helpful. The waters surrounding the island were clear and blue, and corals were beautiful all around. Overall i cant say enough good things about this island and this hotel which we have found. It was truly paradise and would definitely recommend it anytime!
Full of Pleasant surprises!!”
Ok, let me tell you that i was a bit apprehensive before i booked my room at this resort, just because they were'nt so many reviews. But i felt this place had something that would make my holiday a lifetime memory. So i went on and checked videos of the room on youtube and booked it(read risked it). And wow! what a pick !! Vakarufalhi is located in one of the locations where marine life on the whole maldives is said to be at its best. May it be the whale shark sightings, dolphins, turtles, all beautiful corals fish.. u name it. What we loved was the water villa rooms, the awesome food(by chef Riccardo) which always had us looking for which cuisine would be the next, the overall positive and helpful nature of the staffs right from Island Host(Mr. Muaz) who will take care of you and make you feel at home throughout your stay, Antonio, La Ste& Mickey (dive masters who are awesome ppl to spend you time around with), Tania(dedicated marine biologist and a great human being. Last but not the least, Shareef who was our butler. His passion towards service is impeccable. We were surprised to such a rich marine life. I would wake up every morning, step outside and right there..sharks, eagle rays would be right infront of my villa.!! Though our dolphins cruise was cancelled due to bad weather, we were taken by surprise to see dolphine hovering around our dhoni(boat) just when we were departing. Time just flew.. But the memories will stay in our heart forever.!! Thanks Vakaru!! you're more than a five star for us !!
Vakarufalhi is a beautiful resort on a small island. We had one of the beach villas close to the water villas and the restaurant which was perfect. The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was outstanding. The fact that the maldives are highly expensive should be no news to anyone who travels there. We loved our little holiday. Snorkeling was amazing, we saw thousands of fish, sharks nd wven swam with a turtle in the house reef. There is a marine biologist on the island who organizes excursions and gives a lot of information about the life in the water, which we thought was great. Mostly Italians, Swiss, Austrians, French and Germans.
Awesome stay at Vakarufalhi”
we had a great stay at vakarufalhi last week. this is our first visit to maldives. the island is beautiful, the beach is clean, rooms are always tidy, the day bed on the deck is relaxing. great snorkeling ,there is variety of fish around our water villa. you can also snorkeling with the baby sharks, too! food is nice, we had a full-board package which included all breakfast/ lunch/ dinner, every night there is different theme buffet , like bbq, maldivian buffet, international buffet...etc and the best is the italian night! at first we don't have any expectation since it is a buffet (most of them are low quality) but this one is unexpected! thanks to the italian chef and others chef!! dive center are european running and all of them are nice with smile! we joined manta seeking and turtle seeking, fortunately we can snorkeling with the turtle with a great reef. we recommended this resort!
A memorable and (relatively) good value holiday...”
Many things to love about our stay (see under "Pros") and good value compared to the other resorts in the Maldives. We were "trapped" wtih a big group of very obnoxious Chinese tourists while waiting for the sea plane to the resort and were worried they were going to be staying at Vakarufalhi but good thing the stopped off at Conrad. We're definitely not racist, it's just that their social awareness is very low. They were shouting at the top of their voices in the small waiting room for the sea plane and it made the 20min there very unpleasant. The sea plane that we boarded to the resort had terrible ventilation. In the mid-day sun, it was hot, stuffy and quite a killer to be stuck in the confines of the plane. Especially during take-off and landing when the tiny nozzles (out of which air is supposed to blow) practically shutdown. To make matters worse, we had to make a transit stop at Conrad before Vakarufalhi, and there was another plane hogging the disembarkation platform at Conrad so we can to cook in the stuffy plane and breathe in nauseous plane exhaust fumes. My wife almost got sick. Good thing the view of the islands along the way helped. Another good thing was that the plane we took back from the resort at least had to small fans in the front of the cabin. But putting the plane issues aside, it's hard to fault the overall holiday experience. If we have to nit-pick: 1. Air-conditioning in our room broke down and needed to be fixed. Still wasn't very cool after repairs, but we hardly used it anyway. 2. Toilet emitted a bad smell. 3. All the meat served at meals were too tough (and often overcooked). 4. Strangely limited fresh seafood options at the buffets considering the location / nature of the resort. 5. Corals were bleached. There were lots of corals, and we could only imagine how amazing the place would be if they were in the prime of health and fully thriving. But at least there was still lots of other sea life
Vakarufalhi, my treasure! I definitely want to go again.”
Vakarufalhi is my treasure. I chose this island with reference to Trip adviser. I have been booking this resort for 10 months. I stayed 6 nights and enjoy snorkeling every day for 2 to 4 hours. I saw turtles and rays, plenty of tropical fish and small sharks. The daily buffet also had many kinds and it was delicious. I woke up in the morning and enjoyed the breakfast slowly, snorkeled if the weather was fine, ate lunch, slept a little and enjoy the snorkel again. We will have a luxurious dinner slowly in the adjoining restaurant. I applied for all inclusive so I could drink or eat without worrying about the price. The only bad thing about this resort is that Wi - Fi is weak. I bought SIM at Mare airport and was not troubled. I will write the good points I felt. 1. Small lovely island, quiet and beautiful 2. Beautiful sea and lots of colorful fish 3. We can access the place immediately from the coast 4. Delicious cuisine with a change supervised by an Italian chef 5. Friendly and helpfu
Awesome stay at Vakarufalhi”
we had a great stay at vakarufalhi last week. this is our first visit to maldives. the island is so beautiful, the sand is powdery, snorkeling is nice, there is variety of fish swimming around our water villa. you can also snorkeling with the baby sharks, too! food is nice, we had a full-board package which included all breakfast/ lunch/ dinner, every night there is different theme buffet , like bbq, maldivian buffet, international buffet...etc and the best is the italian night! at first we dont have any expectation since it is a buffet (most of them are low quality) but this one is unexpected! thanks to the italian chef!! dive center are european running and all of them are nice with smile! we joined manta seeking and turtle seeking, fortunately we can snorkeling with the turtle with a great reef. we recommended this resort!
I couldn't fault our stay on Vakarufalhi. The island itself is intimate and lovely. Not a lot to do but for someone who likes to get out and do things, between snorkeling around the resort, two snorkeling trips away, kayaking, wind surfing and a book I found there was plenty to keep me occupied. My partner was disappointed with the diving. While the resort was well set up for diving there were very few divers at the resort at the time and planned dives were cancelled due to lack of participants. Another island close buy, on the other hand, was sending 2-3 dive boats out a day as there were so many divers. The diving was spoilt a little by bad weather (typhoon in India) but would normally been very good. The resort's house reef had plenty to offer the less adventurous. All meals were buffet which we liked. The variety was good, quality high and a buffet meant you could eat as little or as much as you wanted.
Beautiful on the ground and underwater”
Room: We had a beach villa. We did see the water villas and they are nicer, but we wanted to stick to our budget. Upgrade costs $100/night. The beach villa was of a comfortable size, bed was alright and bathroom is semi-outdoors. It has a double sink, an indoors shower and an outdoors shower. There is no bathtub. The water villa on the other hand has a semi-outdoor bathtub that overlooks the sea which is nice. Resort grounds: The island is a beautiful small island and you can go around on foot in around 15 minutes, and can also swim around the island. The sand is white, but it isn’t powdery all around the island. It is softer at some parts of the island than others. In some places particularly at the back of the island it is a bit hard to walk on barefoot- there was some dead reef that makes it hard to walk without slippers. Mosquitos are not a problem, the island is sprayed often and I wasn’t bitten once. My husband says he was once but it’s nowhere as bad as other tropical places we’ve been to. Reef: I am not a certified diver but I did a Discover Scuba Diving dive in the house reef, and I snorkeled everyday. Even for non-divers there is plenty to see. If you start to snorkel at the jetty and go around the lagoon you will see plenty. There is a marine biologist that does a free snorkeling trip around the lagoon everyday. It’s worth it to go, she dives you show you some fish you cannot see and does a brief explanation about it. Her first language isn't English, and the explanation was done in Italian then she translates into English. I saw a stingray, clownfish, lionfish and plenty of parrotfish &sweetlips when I snorkeled. Food: The chef of the island is Italian. The food is international cuisine with some Italian emphasis. There are theme nights for dinner (BBQ, Italian, Arabian, Sri Lankan, Maldivian, Far Eastern). Meals are buffet style,Lunch & Dinner have a grill station (Tuna and beef/chicken) & a pasta station. Food is good with something for

Lovely, cosy hotel ideal for couples!”
We enjoyed our honeymoon in Vakarufalhi Island Resort, the rooms were quite big with open-air private bathroom (2 showers), private beach, great, warm water and amazing reef, very colorful. We really liked the food, great variety of food with varied cuisine from all over the world, we had a great stay!
i have stayed at a watervilla at vakarfalhi. the villa was beautiful as snorkelling could be done just outside the villa. the resort has beautiful house reef that is not far from the shore. the housekeeping was done twice a day and the resort staff were friendly and helpful. although there is only one restaurant and a bar on the island, the menu was changed everyday. on saturday, the restaurant had a special candle light bbq by the beach dinner which was truly romantic. the bar held an italian night on monday which was fun. in addition, the hotel also offer many excursions at a reasonable pricing. the bad side is the service and communication via email was rather slow. in conclusion, it has made my virgin trip maldives a wonderful and memorable one. i will definitely recommend this resort to everyone.
It was splendid. Wish it could be a longer stay.”
This is our first time to Maldives thus cannot compare much. To me and my wife, the stay at Vakarufalhi Island Resort was wonderful for our honeymoon. It is very clean and quiet island. The sea water was very clear where you can see lots of reef sharks swimming at near the shore. The food and drinks were adequate and good. We stayed over the water villa which we can access directly to the clear blue sea for snorkelling. Just right outside our villa, there are plentiful of corals and fishes. If you are lucky enough you will be able to see stingray and even spotted eagle ray. It was really a very good experience for me and my wife. We wished the stay can be even longer. It was really a very relaxing trip where you can escape from the busy city life.
Romantic and relaxing”
A tranquil spot on earth that met my expectations fully for my first trip to the Maldives. Spent a week at Vakarufalhi and went diving almost every day. They have a great and friendly staff at the dive center. Try the underwater scooter, cheap and a lot of fun. Did a romantic evening with a fire and dinner on the beach and highly recommend if you're there with your partner. The spa was very good, according to my fiancé. Good for her to have some relaxation while I was off diving. Vakarufalhi comes highly recommended.
A unique experience”
We stayed in a beach villa for 5 nights in October. I can only descibe the weather as prefect, clear blue skies, warm sunshine and a cool breeze. You can walk barefoot all day on the island if you like. The beach house is beautiful, the high ceiling, wood feel and amazing outdoor toilet feels like a tropical paradise. Full board is the best way to go not having to worry about cash. The only thing I paid extra for was the excursions and occassional drinks. There is a buffet 3 meals a day and tea time around 5. The food is delicious with theme nights everyday so it doesn't become tedious and barbeque on the beach sundays. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I highly recommend a visit to Vakarufalhi. Special mention about the band, Ambaa who play once a week a the bar, wild bunch of guys who love to please the crowd and DJ Mano who is equally sensational.
We loved it! Our water villa was beautiful, the island was paradise, we loved the baby sharks and manta rays that greeted us everyday, the staff were very friendly, food was delicious. One of the staff members - Gayan - was fantastic and always made sure we were ok and went out of his way to help us. It was our honeymoon and our room was very beautifully decorated during turndown service. We were unlucky with the weather as it rained quite often, but it still was very magical and we have the most wonderful memories from our time at Vakarufalhi.
Paradise on earth with peaceful!”
I chosen Vakaru because firstly the reef is fantastic. You can snorkel around the island with very closely. The staff is helpful and willing to help. The staff can remember every guest and they always know what the special thing that you might need without asking. The food is really good and change in lunch and dinner. They have pasta bar and various pizza in lunch. I love sashimi ! They also provide afternoon tea with desert free every day. Nothing better than snorkeling and break with tea for charge energy. The spa is perfect with reasonable price. The cocktail is cheap I thought, and you can buy 1get1 in happy hour before dinner. The room is nice and huge bathroom. We love this resort!
