The all inclusive package was not at all value for money, many items of drink and food were not included. The resort was far to intent on grabbing your money than giving good value. However the staff were all excellent.
Very good ”
except the verity of food althought its great but it needs to be more verified
Enjoyed the short stay. Great memories”
Enjoyed the stay. It was fun except once you enter the island you are cut off from the rest of the world. No free wifi and cannot use mobile phone.
A lovely hotel with great value for money”
My stay was as expected. The only issue is to know that transport to vehlidhu from male is by seaplane and I had to pay for excess luggage just like any other local flight. So have some money on you at all times. The hotel staff were good and the good was really nice. Water sports however where not much as majority of them where sports for experienced people like sailing and water skiing.
Fabulous relaxing holiday”
Perfect in every way. It was an ideal honeymoon resort, good food, great beach, great service
quite comfortable stay”
It was a nice and comfortable stay, the staff especially the GM- Uday is a great gut and manages things quite well. He took good care from the time we booked till the time we flew out of the resort. One thing that cane be added is internet in the resort...other wise a lovely maintained resort
Best food selection on a vacation ever. Gained 3 kg in one week.
Great place - just what we were looking for!”
Excellent service, excellent food, quite windy sometimes (on the side of the water bungalows), house keeper in water bungalow VERY tip-oriented - not very friendly, generally beautiful location and views, and fine marine life.
Affordable paradise ”
I thought this was one of islands with the more affordably priced water villas around. At approx. USD500 a couple for half board, I thought it wasn't so bad. My villa was the one furthest out at sea. My ritual at night is to sit at the balcony to star gaze before going into the villa to view the fishes swimming under the living area.
Not true Maldives”
This was not our first time in Maldives and after reading various positive reviews of Velidhu we expected it to be as good as previous visits. Unfortunately it was not. Good food; overcrowded island (on the beach you will feel like in Turkey or Egypt in big hotel); you would not want to sit on the terrace as they are facing path where people are walking all the time; interior or the bungalow is terrible and screaming for renovation; snorkeling is slightly below average.
a good location but needs renovation”
Bungalows along the windward side of the island ()had small beaches and less privacy than on the windward side (). The water bungalows were large. Select odd numbers for best sun exposure on your deck.
Great Service! Great Resort! Excellent Staff!”
We stayed in Velidhu for 5 days with our two boys and it was absolutely phenomenal! Our water villa was gorgeous and the reef underneath had tons of fish schools and various kinds of beautiful fishes. The service and staff was extremely friendly and the food was fabulous. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the Manta Ray and Dolphin Safari -- it was breathtakingly beautiful! The beaches was gorgeous and awfully clear and clean.
Lovely Resort with great snorkelling”
If your thinking about going to Velidhu - then go dont hold back. This is a lovely island, nice beaches with friendly staff at the hotel. The overwater villas (awesome)on the west side take in the sunset and can be seen from your beachchair on the balcony. These rooms are spacious with direct access to the water. Beach villas seemed good too, each a few steps away from the water. The island has an awesome house reef for snorkellers with a massive drop off point to the big blue sea. You will see plenty of fish, coral, the odd turle, maybe a reef shark(harmless), stingrays, a colour changing Octopus or if your lucky a Manta Ray. Overall a wonderful resort, great Island and at a good price.
Nice place to stay for relaxing”
Beside of snorkeling and being lazy on the beach not much to do on this island. So perfect for relax. Dinner buffet is perfect but does not start before 1930 hrs. It takes ± 30 minutes to get there by seaplane and have in mind that baggage allowance is 20 kg per person and that overweight is charged @ 4$ per kilogram on the spot.
location was good....beautiful ”
the staff were very friendly. the in house dr. was extremely caring since we were all sick. he took time to visit us and inquired periodically. the only thing that really was a rip off of was being charged an exorbitant rate for the use of their one computer!
I would like to think agoda for the professional service I had. The hotel was just perfect for me. A water bungalow, with transparent floor. The island was just like a paradise a lovely service. The food was more than I would have expected with variety of specialties. The activity were attractive and unique like night fishing dolphin safari and snorkeling with mantas. cherif
Nice island and great staff.Rooms need improvement”
We had a great time at Velidhu. It sits in small island with a nice reef around it for snorkeling. The beach is nice as well. The staff was friendly and very atentive, specially at the restaurant, where the food was better than expected.
Sun and sand”
Fantastic location and rally nice staff who make you welcome the highlight was swimming with the mantra rays and dolphins in between just relaxing getting massage and generally chillling out agoda were great as we got a great last minute bargain and very well organised would travel again with agoda..... .......... ........
Horrible Staff. Fantastic Location”
water is pricey... i recommend get a full board coz nowhere else to go and nothing much to do but swim and chill. we loved it coz of the ocean... and we would go again, just for the ocean.
Our friends didnt make it and were charged in full”
I booked 2 rooms, one for us and one for our friends. We ended up going to Velidhu, but our friends (who ive booked for and writing the review since I was inviting and I paid) never managed to make it due to a death in their family. I understand this is not the fault of the hotel or agoda, but upon arrival we discussed with the hotel and they promised a great deal for the next visit. when we approached them this year they responded saying that as it as not their fault they will not be liable. Very dry people for real. I mean usually hotels give upgrades or a small discount to repeat guests, and they knew our case was genuine yet they didnt bother. only when i pushed them they gave 10% discount from their rates, which with the discount are like 25% more than agoda prices. ridiculous.
