1. Far too noisy. It's right next to the muay Thai stadium, and announcements for the events are repeated loudly all day every day. Worst location in Samui. 2. The breakfast was not great. It's better to go to a restaurant in the area. 3. Worst internet of any hotel I've ever been in, in any country, including messes like Cambodia.

About 20 mins walk from nightlife centre, but very easy to get around. Even hiring motorbikes only €5 a day. Loads of shops and restaurants, atms, beach and currency exchange nearby. All you need from budget accommodation. Rooms have fridge, air con, tv, and hot showers. Mai Thai boxing stadium next door is very noisy until 12 or 1am, so if you plan on sleeping early, maybe look elsewhere. All in all Orchid residence perfect place to stay. We felt completely safe also.

The two young women at reception were very nice and friendly. The hotel is humble - no luxury contours or details, scruffy linoleum floors, and noisy between 7:30 - 11:30 pm because it is next to the Thai boxing arena. If your favorite aural backdrop is the 'Rocky' theme song blasted every 3 minutes with a refrain claiming: "This event will be televised around the world." In the room, everything was satisfactory and worked. There are no elevators so it's a tough climb if you're on the fourth floor. The inclusive breakfast was meats and toast with jam, so if you are vegetarian like me, you'll be having just toast and jam. The hotel is located at the bottom of the lake between the beach and Reggae street. It's a bit of a dangerous walk - no sidewalks - to get to the busy shopping street, the bars, or the beach. But it's cheap - and commodious value for money. You have to buy a card to use the wifi.

A songthaew drove us from Nathon pier right to the doorstep of the hotel for Baht 60 per person. Room is large complete with all amenities including a sofa and table. Blanket is plain simple not comfortable enough for the blasting air-conditioner. A simple continental breakfast was provided and we ordered for some extras at our own cost. Overall very satisfying for the money paid in terms of location and service.

Great Budget Hotel. Spacious rooms and good location. The only downside is that the hotel does not have a lift so access to uper floors is only through stairs.

2 completely different buildings ”

Varied experiences in the 2 different buildings.. we checked into the first building which was an awful experience- We were shown 3 rooms which all had mould on the floor, were dirty & smelled really bad, felt like I was back in the 1930’s. When I complained to the staff, they looked shocked and just laughed in my face. Only positive was that it is v close to chewang beach. We stumbled across the second building during an evening stroll (orchid 2). The receptionist was really lovely and kind, and showed us a room which was really modern and clean. We explained our situation and she had us switched over to this building! I’d recommend building number 2 but Definately not orchid 1. The staff could barely understand any English and no service at all.

Totally useless. Gave us wrong cheap room and seemed angry when we tried get the right one. Room was filthy, pillows looked like they were 20 years old. Reception was no help and never there when needed. Couldn't even order us taxi to get to our ferry in the morning. Towels and linen smelt like wet dog.

The room was very big, the location is good for the beach. Thats about the only good I can say. The communal areas were not cleaned the entire stay, including animal (cat) faeces at the bottom of the stairwell, which was quite pungent. My room had lots of previous guests hairs everywhere, and I had to request the room was cleaned on the 2nd day, as this does not happen automatically apparently. The staff were polite enough.

Room had a horrible smell to it. Mosquitos everywhere.. didn’t get the room I booked and paid for.. checked my account and they’ve charged me for an extra night! Would not stay here ever again.. would y waste your money and time on this place!

Good location and cheap price on Agoda. More expensive if you book at the reception. We stay in both Orchid Residence and Orchid Residence 2. The latter is perfect: big room, brand new private superclean bathroom. Just the best accommodation you probably can find near the beach. The first one should be settled but it remains a good solution to stay.

Relatively underwhelmed by our stay here. Seems that during our 3 night stay here, the room was not cleaned once our replenished with essentials such as loo roll and drinking water, which required us to ask at the desk for this. Room initially was the wrong type after specifying a double room both on the booking and in person. Wifi is also poor, only works of surrounding the lobby area, poor in other areas of the hotel. Better value for money elsewhere in Samui.

Bedbugs!!!!”

My first impression was ok, the rooms were large, the building itself is a bit worn looking, but on my second night I spotted 2 bedbugs on my mattress while I was reading a book in bed. I tore the sheets off the bed and what I seen underneath disgusted me. The mattress was covered in red splotches from people being bitten and from bed bug excrement, and in general, the mattress was stained with holes everywhere. I told the receptionist who didn't speak a word of English so I showed him a picture of a bedbug on my phone. He grabbed a can of insect spray from the press (which doesn't do anything for bedbugs) and lightly sprayed my mattress. I couldn't sleep on the bed and ended up locking myself in the bathroom curled up the floor. Not a pleasant stay for me...

Don't want stay anymore. ”

1.The stuff is friendly，room is very large. But it's the most unlike hotel i've never stay during 2 months travelling in south east asia. 2. Location just beside the boxing stadium, the announcement from speaker was countinue loudly till 00:30am. 3.Too many mosquito even at 4th floor. 4. Bad wifi, only available at lobby. 5. Water is not clean(yellow color) and terrible disinfectant smell that bite your eyes make you tear when you take shower. 5. You can book a bus ticket to Bangkok in hotel. But the bus interior looks like a scrap bus, blanket also dirty.

Old hotel that needs a facelift”

Was really disappointed with this hotel. I know it was Christmas so not really much else available but this was a nasty old hotel with staff that did not want to help or do anything really... The furniture in the room was old and worn. The bedding you only got 2 extra big towels for a duvet cover, and they smelt musky the same as the bathroom towels. Overall a huge disappointment and if you want sleep before midnight - 2am then forget it! It is right next to a Thai kick boxing venue and a night market/bar so music and advertising is non-stop. If your easy going stay here but for the money I would 100% look elsewhere.

customer service sucks (rooms ok)”

I'll summarise. The rooms at this hotel were fine. But the customer service (the manager, in particular), wasn't. I booked on the wrong day. I meant to book a specific day, but booked one day different. At first, I thought the manager said we'd easily just move it forward. But the next morning, he rather angrily told me, in limited english, that we had to pay for the room and breakfast. Ok... fair's fair. My fault. But the way he went about it was completely unnecessary. He also became angry because when I arrived, I didn't have the booking slip (I'm sorry, I don't carry a printer with me while traveling), but the next morning I had one (thanks to the receptionist). He was angry because... ?? Who knows. In the end, they allowed us to move the booking forward, but only after I called Agoda and explained the situation. However, they did include the free breakfast which was another disappointment (we had to pay, despite our booking including it). I'm not an aggressive customer, and I rarely leave reviews because I find 99% of people fantastic. But in this case, I was annoyed enough to write about it online. Like I said - the rooms are fine, but don't expect much from the customer service. I won't be staying at this hotel again on this very basis.

Granted the time of year was Christmas so hotels were hard to find, so I found this hotel having rooms available...And now I know why! Its a dump!!! The hotel is run down and old...You get a large towel for a bed cover that smells as bad as the towels you get for showering. It is right next to a Thai boxing stadium, so on loop is "The Rockey" theme tune with a voice over, advertising the boxing. It drives you mad!!! If you stay here, you are mad!!!
