Disappointing visit”

Iy was a disappointment, spendingbtile at the hotel, all attractions for kids need to pay, food is not of a high standard, disappointed reviews for high standard japanese restaurants from other guest dies not help. We had experience of the asian restaurant and the coffeeshop, quality of the coffeeshops food disappointed. Hotel location if you visit thencanton fair then okay, otherwise suggest to look at other options. The management should review the quality of their staff as service is simply not of a 5 star hotel. My best wishes, to them but i am not coming back.

We have stayed at the shangri-la before. This time was drying the holiday and check-in was nearly an hour. We had booked two rooms and one wasn’t ready and we had to wait another hour. It was a bit frustrating, but again it was during th holiday so I do have a sense of understanding. We did enjoy our stay. Rooms a decent size and the outdoor pool is always relaxing. Breakfast buffet is really worth the money. We will stay there again, but probably not during a holiday.

Excellent Staycation ”

Our visit was during the October holiday in China. We spent a night to get away and to enjoy some good food. We had room service, which was prompt and did not disappoint. The breakfast buffet is excellent and will become a restaurant we go to on the weekends when cereal and toast won't cut it. The outdoor pool is fantastic and open until 10pm, although you must swim with a swim cap which was the first time I've ever had to wear one. Overall, the service is fantastic and its earned 5 Stars are definitely deserved. Will 100% return!!!

It was great. The hotel is wht I had expected of a 5 star chain hotel. Well kept and big comfortable rooms. Attentive staff and nice location, easily accesible to the main city area. Will definitely be staying there again.

Very convenient access to the Canton Fair.”

Rooms rates are expensive compared to other nearby hotels but, worth the money in regards to the qualtity of the hotel and also convenient access to the Canton Fair since it is only about 10 minutes walk to the B Section entrance of the Exhibition Center. If only for the trade shows, this hotel is very convenient and deluxe.

Fabulous, living up to the Shangri-La's reputation”

This is my first visit to GZ after 5 years and choose to stay in Shangri-La. The hotel is impressively spacious, spacious room and large toilet. Most of all, service was impeccable. Also great view from my room.

Perfect Hotel for a Business Stay”

Perfect Hotel for a tiring business trip. When you get to your room you feel relaxed. The room is superb everything is complete. People are accommodating and helpful. Their staff even accompanied and guide us in the departure area of the train station. Perfect Score for this hotel.

Nice hotel, good service”

the main thing about this hotel is its close proximity to guangzhou exhibition centre. its located just across the road (but the entrance is actually quite a long walk away). other pros - staff are extremely friendly, free upgrade of room for me, free shuttle service from train station, room is really nice.

Great 5-star hotel for a quick getaway”

The lobby of the hotel is fabulous with a very nicely decorated Christmas tree to get you into the spirit. The hotel staff at check-in were very friendly and efficient. The room was very spacious and the hotel provided me with nice amentities. I was very pleased with the comfort of the king size bed; it's very seldom to have a hotel mattress that is just right. I ate at the Wok Too Cafe for dinner buffet; it was alright but compared to the Island Shangri-la's buffet in Hong Kong, their buffet lacked a lot of the cold appetizer items like fresh oysters, cocktail shrimp, and etc. I also had lunch at the Japanese restaurant Nadaman; it was also just alright but it wasn't up to hotel-quality Japanese food freshness. I took a stroll in the garden around their outdoor pool, which is very nice. Overall, I think the hotel is at a great location because it's right beside the Pearl River so you can enjoy beautiful scenery during day or night.

Luxurious Hotel with friendly helpful staff”

It is quite near from International Airport, takes taxi only RMB 160-170, we were greeted by very pretty young lady and send us to receptions, she offering us to upgrade to Horizon Club level (31-34) which has bigger room from the standard one. The best view is to Huan Pu River, costly RMB 100 higher than view to city. we take her offering and get worth benefit like happy hour to enjoy many delicious cake and dishes in free wifi club room. All staff in Horizon Club is treat us as friend to them we can get many clearly information about Guangzhou in very good English skill. One time Mr. Bryant Liu (Horizon Club Manager) help us to arrange hotel tranportation to buy TienChi, Mr.Simon He (Chief Concierge) send us to the shop and talk to the shop keeper who can not speak English. Then Mr. Simon send us back to nearest Metro Station as our wish. Mr. Daniel Horizon Club Staff also very helpful to suggest us the interesting place in GZ...and all pretty young Horizon Club staff is very generous to offering us the dishes and all facility freely.

An excellent hotel having all the facilities and a friendly staff to make our stay pleasant and comfortable.. The hotel is very clean and well kept with a great pool and a large garden in the back. The lounge on the 34th floor has a breathtaking view of the Pearl River and the city’s skyline.

If you plan to stay here, make sure to plan your itinerary carefully as it is very far from a lot of places. Feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. Although location is very far from CBD, the hotel itself is very grand. A lot of things to do in the hotel already. Swimming pools are very good. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Staff very friendly. Not all can speak fluent english though but they make sure they help you out the best way they can. Make sure to use their complimentary transportation to and fro the hotel. It will save you hassle of catching taxi.

Nice view, far location & the pools”

Got a nice view of the river but it's 10mins walk from the nearest metro station. There are not any restaurant near the hotel and the shuttle bus only runs every hour. Slides of the pool only open weekend and you must wear a swim cap for both the indoors and outdoors pools. If you didn't bring one, you are forced to buy one from the hotel.

My mother had a back injury when we went to Guangzhou. I requested for airport transfer and told them to send a driver who can drive carefully since my mother cannot tolerate a bumpy ride. We were surprised to find Shangrila staff waiting for us when we disembarked the plane. They had a wheelchair ready for my mother and we did not have to wait at the long line in the immigration. It was a really big help. Kudos for the amazing service.

It had been a pleasant experience staying with Shangri la. Keeping up its international standard, shangri la has outperformed with professional staff performance and efficiency. Nevertheless it's shutte bus service could be improved if it provides picking up hotel guest from the 东站to the hotel instead of just one way from the hotel to the station. In this way, guests arriving from the airport to stay in the hotel would appreciate the utmost personal service and safety.

Maybe it's the Shangrila China operation that do a poor job with almost everything. Shangrila is loosing its brand value. The only thing good about it is the size of the room. It's decent spacious for a Resortish hotel. Things for improvements: - boring and old schooled interior design in everyway. some of the design details in the elevaotr and room is AWEFUL and make me speechless - The pool is ugly shaped - Don't mind the loation being away from city center but nothin around the area, not even 7-11 - Restuarnats closed on SUNDAY!!!! only Chinese restaurnat and the buffet is available. Italian, Thai resutarant is all closed on Sunday. What kind of management is that!! it's Rediculousss

Sensational Hotel Suitable For Business Trips”

Upon arrival, there were staff to open the taxi and lobby entry door, a friendly welcome at check in and exceptional service. It's worth noting that the staff had a very good grasp on english, so there were no issues with communication during my entire stay. The rooms are spacious, modern and well maintained. It's a credit to the Shangri La for the effort made to keep the hotel in this shape. The morning breakfast is like eating in a shopping mall. So many choices from Western to Asian meals and everything is fresh! It's the best breakfast selection I've seen in the world. The only thing I'd recommend, would be some training in the coffee department :) The hotel has a brilliant gym, conference rooms, a select number of stores, ATM's, money exchange machine and wifi coverage is superb! You'll get wifi everywhere in the building, but the elevators. Note Facebook and youtube are a no go in China, but you will survive :) I was particularly impressed with the rooms. They all have great lighting, a massive window overlooking the Canton Fair and individually climate controlled. Room service was reasonably priced and the mini bar wasn't excessive either which is always a good thing. The train line is less than 500m away which is handy. Ideal location if you're looking to do business around the Canton Fair region. A cab ride is about 100 - 120 RMB into the centre of Guangzhou.

Great hotel, centrally located.”

This is a great hotel. Staff are excellent, everyone speaks good English. The Italian restaurant is very good, the breakfast buffet is one of the best I've seen anywhere. Rooms are spotlessly clean, bathroom is large and very well appointed. Internet access is fast. Check in and out are very fast and efficient. It's the best hotel I've seen in Guangzhou.
