Having a great sleep at night at this place, the room is very spacious with bathtub and shower room. The staff were friendly and gentle. The hotel is in very easy access to Mini Big C and market.

Great short or long stay hotel”
Arrived at Chiang Mai airport and got a fixed price taxi from the desk at the airport approx. 170 Baht. We were met at Viangbua Mansions by the security guard, who carried our bags into the hotel. The reception staff were very warm and welcoming. Our room was on the fourth floor and the lift required the door key card to get to the correct floor, although there are stairs as Chiang Mai is an earthquake zone. The room had a safe, TV, refrigerator, free WIFI in rooms (also lobby & patio) and a private balcony (for smokers). The room we booked came with breakfast (a choice of omlete, waffle, congee or an American breakfast, all with toast, a selection of fresh fruit, juice, coffee or tea. The hotel has it's own coffee shop/snack bar, which also sells beers at very reasonable prices. The hotel is located outside the Old Quarter, but it has easy access into the Old Quarter and the night markets. To reach the town centre, walk to the main road use local transport (red trucks) for 20 Baht per person. There is also a produce, refrigerated meat and excellent street food market, a few minutes away from Viangbua where you can eat for 30-45 Baht. There is also a nice coffee shop next door. Many guests use Viangbua as a long term accommodation. The staff go out of their way to please. I asked for a hair dryer and about two seconds later, the maid was at the door with one in hand. Laundry service and coin operated machines. A great choice for Chiang Mai and the surrounding areas. Highly rated.

Great value - excellent place to stay”
I have stayed at Viangbua Mansion a number of times and each time it has been spot on. If you are looking for a hotel located in the tourist mecca close to Western style fast food outlets and major hotel chains, this is probably not the spot for you. However if you are looking for a value for money hotel with large comfortable rooms and pleasant airconditioning throughout, which is located in an authentic Thai environment, then this is the idea spot. The staff are pleasant and helpful, the rooms impeccably clean and with a separate sitting area where you can watch tv. The cable tv has about 10 channels, not extensive but enough to inform and entertain.The housekeeping staff are pleasant and approachable and go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. Within the lobby area there is a coffee shop/ bar with good well priced drinks, excellent friendly service where you can also read the complimentary daily newspapers and access the internet. Very close to the hotel is a Thai food market where you can buy all sorts of cooked and fresh foods (including a salad bar with crisp fresh lettuce). All this with Thai prices, rather than the tourist prices of the night bazaar area. There are also two 7 Eleven stores within easy access. The hotel is about 30 minutes walk from the Tapae Gate and night market areas which I did not find a problem. Breakfast is fairly standard for hotels in this price range but offers good variety. I also made use of the tredmill in the gym where there are also other machines on offer. There does not appear to be a swimming pool at the hotel but there is an undercover car park. Viangbua Mansion is a very good accommodation option in Chiang Mai particularly if you enjoy walking and exploring the local area.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and it never disappoints. Having stayed at many accommodation options in Chiang Mai over the years.I feel that viangbua Mansion represents one of the best value for money options around. Not the preferred option for those who want to be in the "tourist hub" but for people seeking value in a genuine Thai environment it is ideal.

Great hotel, good service and peaceful atmosphere”
i stayed for 18 days at the viangbua mansion and found my room a peaceful and comfortable haven from the business of going about chiang mai seeing the sights (on the back of a motorbike). the hotel is extremely clean, the decor is very pleasant and the room is extremely good value for the price.

Comfortable and Friendly”
The best thing about Viangbua Mansion are its staff. The Housekeeping Manager is on top of things which explains the high standard of cleanliness. The reception staff are always responsive, friendly and try so hard to help. There are many long stay guests who are retirees so there is a kind of "community feel" and hardly any noisy young guests running around. A big plus is the fab Tanin Market 2 mins away. Fresh vegetables and fruit, all sorts of snacks, and you can order a stirfry for USD1 ready in 5 mins washed down with iced coffee costing 50 cents. Bottles of beer are available in the grocery shops which you can chill in the huge room fridge. I also appreciate the well-lit and safe parking for motorbikes. There are many other places which charge similar rates but cannot match the service and facilities. I hope Viangbua keeps its rates fair because this will keep customers coming back.

Amazing service ”
My fiancé and I stayed for almost a week at the Viangbua Mansion (with a short trip to Pai mixed in). They were incredibly warm and welcoming - every time we walked in they greeted is kindly. They even booked us our rides to and from Pai. The room size was great! And the shower was wonderful - heat and pressure! Breakfast was fine. While there is nowhere for dinner in the hotel, the same family that owns the hotel owns a restaurant across the street that is great. Beds are hard, but this seems standard across Thailand. It was really lovely having a place to do our laundry, and my fiancé enjoyed the gym (for what it is - most hotels don't have them). Overall, a great stay at this lovely boutique hotel :)

Lovely warm and welcoming staff”
My partner and I stayed 3 nights at the Viangbua Mansion we had a wonderful time and all our needs were met. Its great value for money and having a fridge in the room really helps! Its slightly out of town but cheap tuk tuks are usually available outside. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpfull. Recomend this hotel for a nice quiet stay and great value for money.

We spent a week at Viangbua Mansions and found it excellent value. Our room was generously proportioned, we received free water daily, had a good shower and good enough breakfast. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly and helpful: they made phone calls for us,organised trips and ordered taxis - nothing was too much effort.

Feels like coming home”
This was my second stay at Viangbua and it won't be my last. I fully intend to stay there again when I am in Chiang Mai. I loved staying here, the staff are so lovely and kind. It is not close to any of the sites and a 20 minute walk to the Old City, but it has a real charm about it that cannot be matched by hotels that are in the centre. The staff really go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay.

We stayed at Viangbua Mansion for one night. Our room was spacious, the staff were very friendly and polite. It's about 20 minutes to Chiang Mai City centre so you may need a motorcycle if you are staying here longer. Basic but great value.

Yet again a comfortable stay, staff excellent”
We stay there when ever we visit Chiang Mai and have done over four years now. The standard is very good, staff are very helpful, the breakfast staff are very attentive, there is good ample under cover parking and it is only a five minute drive to the town centre, the Airport Shopping Plaza only ten minute drive, all in all the best place to stay and at a very affordable price as breakfast is included. Sometimes when booking at the last minute they have been fully booked and we have tried other hotels around the same price and although they are clean, good staff, this hotel is in our opinion the best. You can eat at the hotel or just across the road at their new restaurant, lots of variety, choice and again very reasonable price, good cool eating area. If you drive there is a great car cleaning service just down the road on the left, the hotel staff gave us this info, and just 200baht for an MU 7, inside and out. Very satisfied often returning customer.

Wonderful staff....clean and safe!”
I spent the month of November 2012 at the Viangbue. The hotel is somewhat older but remains in good repair and is kept clean with prompt attention to any maintenance concerns. My A/C decided to stop blowing cool air on two occasions, both times, a stop by the desk resulted in a maintenance man resolving the issue in less than an hour. The staff all possessed some degree of English language skills, some more than other, however all attempted to be as helpful and friendly as possible. My room was clean and for the most part everything was in good repair. You won’t find the plus western style shine and glitter. There are no blow dryers or irons in the room and only a small safe large enough for an e-book computer (not a full laptop), and you cash, credit cards and jewelry if you feel the need. You will not find electrical outlets in the bathrooms, nor is there a good make-up mirror / lighting for those ladies who feel the need. What you will find is a nice sized room with plenty of cabinet space, with a good sized western bathroom. As several reviewers have mentioned the hotel is not located near the tourist areas. There is a large Thai market nearby, and several small shops and services, however few people in this area speak languages other than Thai. If you want daily site seeing, shopping, and night life, you will want some means of transportation. You may want to budget for motorcycle/car rental or taxi/tuk tuk…the staff will call cabs for you, often times a tuk-tuk is parked outside, if not I’m sure the staff can call one for you. The hotel has underground parking for those with vehicles. All in all, this hotel worked well for me as I prefer to be located in more of a Thai setting than the tourist areas.

Best value for the money”
My experience with Viangbua Mansion was better than expected. At about USD/day, I wasn't hoping for much and was pleasantly surprised. Although the room was plain, it was large and clean. Wifi signal was strong (both in the room and at the lobby), and it was free. Breakfast was also free. The location was great. There were 2 7-11 near by, and there was a huge Thai market right behind the property. I highly recommend visiting the market around 11AM when it's not yet crowded. There were many Thai food and snack to try, and they were delicious.

Great hotel at a great price!”
I stayed here for a week and a half while visiting Chiang Mai in preparation to retire here. The hotel is neat, clean, well maintained with an exceptionally friendly, courteous staff. The on-site restaurant is wonderful and very inexpensive, the coffee shop likewise. It is delightfully quiet and the price is amazingly low for what you get. I can't recommend highly enough and plan to stay here again.
