The wifi was shocking, otherwise great
I stay here regularly and it is a hood, clean vslue for mpney, dont expect too much hotel. I have on various occasions had issues with the wifi, but this last visit was awful. Even in the dead of night it was near impossible to get connected.

Good but beware of 7 the floor
We were pleased with the hotel, one thing though my husband and I went for a foot massage on 7th floor, firstly the girls were inappropriately dressed, the girl who massage my husband caressed him with her legs way opened in front of me and asked for a huge tip! My massage was the worst I have ever had, obviously not interested in massaging a woman, and as we were leaving the receptionist was showing pictures if provocative girls from a book!! I was disgusted and refused to return to the massage place.

Turned away as it was against hotel policy to allow "check-in with unmarried Vietnamese women"
My Vietnamese fiance and I traveled to HCMC to attend the wedding of her friend. We had reserved a room at Victory Hotel Saigon for 1 night. To my surprise (and my fiance's extreme embarrassment), we were told when we tried to check-in to cancel our reservation as the hotel's policy prohibited them from allowing unmarried Vietnamese women from checking in with men. This is a totally ridiculous and archaic policy. Worst, reception staff were not at all apologetic or sympathetic to our situation, and made no efforts at service recovery at all. They then communicated to me (in the most cold and matter of fact manner you could imagine) that they would help contact Agoda to have my reservation cancelled and refunded. Nevertheless, the cancellation and refund was not processed, and I received an email informing me I had "checked-out" the following day and for me to submit a review on my stay. This was only resolved 3 days later after I had to take the trouble to email Agoda on my own and explain the situation to them. There are tonnes of much better hotels around the area providing friendlier and better service without ridiculous policies. I am not sure what they are trying to insinuate by setting this policy???

Fairly good for Vietnam standards
Hot water and a soft bed. Toilet and everything were clean. Reception seemed grumpy and not happy to answer any questions. The staff on check out was good so I'm not too sure if it's just that 1 person. Overall very decent.

meals
all good, except that the prices in the restaurant are over the top, there needs to be a more budget auxiliary menu for those who want to have a night "at home"

Great place
I stay here regularly, like 6-7 times a year, each time for a week ot two. Its all good except for the food which is very average, and the plumbing! Bad plumbing is common in Vietnam, taps and shower heads work to various degrees of effectiveness and toilets only just flush, most of the time and dont flush for the rest. Use the kettle to hurl extra water into the bowl to remove the mess, if the hand shower cord is long enough, spray continually to one side of the bowl to create a whirlpool effect for the removal of more serious waste, and when its really bad, call room service and someone will come in and surgically remove it all. . This is a widespread problem in Vietnam So get used to it, unless you are prepared to pay big bucks. Otherwise the Victory is as good as it gets for the price.
