Great Little Guesthouse with Friendly owners”
We booked for 1 night but ended up staying 4!! This is an awesome guesthouse away from the main area of Vang Vieng yet still only a 5 minute walk. It was low season when we were there so Vang Vieng itself was a bit quiter than what we were expecting. The room is clean and a decent size, and for the price you pay you still awake to a decent view of the mountains each morning, if you have a chance ask for an upstairs room. Air con and hot water worked without any issues. Our room wasn’t cleaned whilst we were there, but we didn’t ask, whenever we needed frsh towels or soap and toilet paper the owner happily obliged so I’m sure if you asked for the room to be cleaned they would do it. The owner of the guesthouse is really nice, just lets you come and go as you please and the café that is part of the guesthouse makes really good food as well. We would definitely stay here if we returned to Vang Vieng, and will be recommending this place to all people travelling on a budget.

Chilled, good coffee”
I really enjoyed staying at the Vieng Thara, it is a 10min walk from the main road in a scenic location which is great because the main road is full of loud drunk tubers. The owner was friendly and runs a cool cafe at the front of the guesthouse. The room are large, bright, airy and clean. Only thing they could improve is that our room wasn't cleaned during a 3 night stay.

Cute and neat guesthouse and restaurant”
The owner is very friendly and witty. Rooms generally clean and operating as a guesthouse with a restaurant is highly recommended. Master at making delicious dishes. A father seems that cooking. The foods we eat at home are full of sincerity and When you want to send to more than one day to clean and change the towels when asked to provide services.

Calm & amazing guest house”
i didn't find a review about this guest house. it's very fantastic. little far away from vangvieng center area, but we can avoid noises at night. the location is beside a toll bridge. room is very clean and well-lighted. very friendly staff, they are always smiling. you can have a good latte with kip, too. it's not convenient, no tv or fridge, but very comfortable. i recommend this calm guest house.

ok hotel, quiet location”
The room was ok but could be better for the price. Location is great if you don´t want to go party all night long. It´s 5-10 min walk away from the central area. Not far att all. The staff was quiet and didn´t speak much english and didn´t smile but they were friendly! Cafe and food was great. The cleaning of the room could improve a little bit.

Simple, easy place to stay”
This was a simple, and friendly place to stay. The owner/manager is quiet, and doesn't smile much true, but he is very helpful when you have questions. He also makes a mean cup of coffee. Some things were in need of repair and maintenance, and the bed was very hard, but everything worked fine. This guesthouse is away from the busy area of town. I had no issue with the Tollbridge, simple ear plugs were all I needed.

Host spoke little English but he can understand what you are asking, He also gave good tips what to do and see, Breakfast best option is the special big breakfast you won't be disappointed. room doesn't have a tv which i don't mind. Wifi has excellent speed and best reception i had in Lao. Shower was good, depending on the time pressure was low but would be outside owners control. Easy walk to many eating spots etc. Enjoyed the stay

Quiet location, very clean”
5 mins walk away from town centre, quiet and easy to get there from bus station(just straight). Luckily, a guy from Thailand was helping the guesthouse for 5 days, he supported a lots with frequency English. Other staff doesn't speak English. Bed and shower is good.

Large clean rooms with a mountain view”
We arrived in mid May and is bordering on the start of the wet season so the hotel was very quiet, however this was great, as we had only booked a standard fan room they upgraded us to an aircon room with a mountain view. The restaurant was closed during our stay but the town center and other restaurants were less than a 5 minute walk away so no problems really. Rooms were clean, bed was a bit lumpy but overall a good stay.

Overpriced ”
for another stay in the same room I paid in cash 1/3 price... Room was average, I paid for no air-con so only fan on ceiling, bathroom of course after shower is flooded, good thing were free towels, and shampoo. WIFI didn't work for a night and on ground floor signal is VERY weak. Onwer was nice, and he makes quite good coffee.

Van vien is very small city so you can go to anywhere just walk! Hotel is clean and near river. Breakfast was dilicious. Good choice!!!

Miserable Stay”
I arrived at 3pm in the afternoon and had to wait 1 hour and 40 minutes until someone showed up at the cafe/reception. Was asking other guests if they knew something but only two guys told me the guy wandered off a while ago. It was the grumpy old man people already mentioned in other reviews. It seems like he can be 'nice' but he definitely wasn't in a good mood when I met him. Totally ignored me and proceeded to make some coffee. I was confused and asked if he worked here and told him I've waited for over 1.5 hours. No hello, no apology no anything. It took us another 5 minutes to scroll through his booking confirmations to find my booking after which he agreed to give me a room. First room he showed me had a big water puddle in the room in which I stepped so he said he go another room. Other room was already occupied by someone which he told me he did not know who stayed there. He cleaned up the first room and was really annoyed by it. Questions on my side where simply not answered and ignored. Room was not clean and moldy. I've booked a bus down south at another agency which didn't pick me up. I silently handed the grumpy guy my recipe and he made some calls and after a while handed me his phone to communicate with the agency. I really appreciated that and I guess I would not have been able to make it without his help.

the rooms were basic and therefore overpriced. Hot shower was good. The owner seems to be very unfriendly (never smiles) BUT he is friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, the kitchen is clean. I booked three nights but stayf just two nights, i didnot get my money back.

Grumpy old man”
The staff (grumpy old man) was horrible and rude person. The 'back entrance' which is the only way you get in after 10pm is a mud bath. There appears to be some water issue and half of the building is soaking wet. I would not stay in the downstairs rooms.... Internet connection is good but the bed could be better. We appreciated the mosquito net.

the owner is very helpful, however he could smile a bit more. the room we booked was not available, the beds had no sheets and we had to make up the beds ourselves, the laundry was put in bags as paper waste

Uncomfortable stay in Vang Vieng”
I spent three nights here and it was way too many. The room had a ceiling fan but only one speed which was high. There was no tv remote to operate tv. The internet was turned off twice during my stay. The room was so hot in the afternoon due to the thin curtains and the direct sun. The bed was very uncomfortable for sleeping. In the dining area thee are broken floor boards. The manager never smiled, spoke no English and was not visible when I arrived to check in. The location was fine and it was quiet at night but I would not return here.
