No wifi, small breakfast, lying manager”
We stayed there for 3 nights and we were told countless lies about why the wifi didn't work and that it was supposed to be fixed soon but it really didn't look like they even contacted the phone company. The room is nice but the family that owns the place doesn't care about the guesthouse instead relying on their gardener to run the place. The man is not only totally useless he's also a pathological liar ( he even tried to say that the wifi was down because of a fire in the electric consol out on the street but of course there wasn't any signs of burning or anything around the electric pole he pointed at) we have no idea why they didn't wanna fix the wifi but being lied to constantly and in such a stupid way made our stay really unpleasant.

Unable to recommend this guesthouse”
We stayed for 1 night. On our arrival, two elderly ladies were present who saw us in but gave no customer service aspect at all bar a welcome drink. We felt like we had been given a room and that was it - we had to ask outside the guesthouse for directions etc. The room smelt damp and the sheets albeit clean, were damp. That room could have been cleaner with just a little more effort. The guesthouse is building a swimming pool and is a bit of a building site. It did not have a comfortable or welcoming vibe to it. No Wi Fi available during our stay. Breakfast as Ok - usual traveller fair of omlette , toast etc. Would we return ? Definitely not. They need to attend to customer service and the other detail listed above. We paid £20 for the room which which had been advertised at £47 usually. If I had paid full amount, I reall would have felt ripped off. This place does have potential with its building works etc but it's far from complete. 6am trains pass nearby and some from another premise started up too!

Warmly welcomed , great hospitality ”
Close to the beach, Good breakfast, Hospitality
We had a nice stay. Great hospitality and nice food. Nice property, less than 5 min walk to the beach. Our bathrooms (1st and 2nd floor) were not as clean when we arrived. The price was higher than the ground floor but the ground floor bathroom was cleaner, bigger and better fitted. Flat sheets were insufficient.

Sri Lankan breakfast, nice room, great garden
Our stay at Villa Bird Nest was good. Room was nice, big enough and clean. At arrival staff didnt speak english but our (english speaking) host came later. Its a nice and quiet place near the beach, but a 15 minutes walk to town.

Friendly host and peaceful stay”
Great location for beach, a bit out of town, lovely host!
Our stay at Villa Bird Nest was very pleasant. We were able to check in early, and Suba, our host, organised bicycles for us for the day, and showed us the shortcut to the beach (just across the train tracks). We had a delightful Sri Lankan home-cooked breakfast in the morning. Rooms are clean and practical, although there was not enough hot water for 4 morning showers. The wifi is a bit choppy and there are loads of mosquitos, but the tranquil tropical atmosphere almost makes up for these.

Quiet relaxing”
Close to beach
The lady who runs bird nest is friendly and helpful, however we would recommend staying at one of the beachside hotels as there are no cafés, bars or shops along the beachfront, and no shady areas either. You have to stay at a hotel to have access to any facilities on the beachfront.

Beautiful place and very close to perfect beach”
close to beach, nice garden and friendly staff
We stayed two night at Bird Nest and absolutely loved it. It had a nice and quiet garden and squirrels were running around. It was only 5 min. walk from an amazing sandy beach with several restaurants a little further away. The staff served nice breakfast and lunch and were extremely helpful in arranging transportation and trips. We had an exiting boattrip at the Bentota Ganga.

Wonderful holiday ”
Garden, balcony, hostess
A great place for meditation and unity with nature. Chic balcony, in room air conditioning and hot shower. A delicious Breakfast cooked with soul. Net garden. I fell asleep and woke up to the singing of birds. 5 minutes to the beach. If you are not the tourist who wants to be in the hotel all inclusive and spend all day in the pool, the Villa you will like. Thank you Suba! I was alone, but I felt perfect in this cosy Villa

Quiet location with loverly garden”
Good garden, close to town and beach, delicious breakfast
We had a late arrival (7pm) and family kindly cooked us dinner although on departure we were charged $30 for dinner and for a morning coffee even though it was included in room rate. We had the top room which had a great view although not enough water pressure to have a shower. Top room is very small although has good balcony. Gardens are immaculate although it was hard to get info on nearby shop quick ended up only being a few mins walk away. Family are friendly but owner is not very helpful with how to get around or transport options

quiet stay - that's what I needed :-)”
nice garden, great breakfast, comfortable bed
I arrived to Villa Bird Nest from train station - it's like 5 mins only. First impression - beautiful garden along with some animals like monkeys etc. Quiet place for stay though bit far from city center. however the tuk-tuk driver named Sanjee lives next door and he would be happy to take you anywhere you want in Bentota for a reasonable price. The Owner of the Villa is generous person; she would do everything to make your stay pleasant including a great big breakfast!!! :)

Consigliatissimo
