Wow What A Trap!!! Just Avoid!!! ”
Staff looks like under cocaine (speaking fast, acting fast...), treat you worst than Sh#t and make you feel you are unwelcome here. Guests are the same, arrogant, proud of them and looking at you with dark eyes. Why? Because they are people who work in Rio and live here as their home, so you are the stranger who comes to their field, you are clearly not welcome. Dorms look like prison's ones, next a noisy street, no wifi (only wifi in the kitchen), no plugs near the beds... for bathroom I just saw... 1 for all. I payed for 2 nights, I stayed 20 minutes, just the time to go and check the next street El Misti House. It was day and night. Staff and guest were really nice and welcoming, accomodation was maybe the best you can fine in Rio. I traveled all around the world and saw many different guesthouses, so just trust me, don't waist your time and money booking this guesthouse, just go next street to El Misti House. Congratulation VBHC, you are one of the Worst Guesthouse in the World :)
Good location ”
Good location near to station and small walk to beach. Lady with dark short hair was extremely helpful however the gentleman with curly dark hair not so, seemed like he was only bothered if you spoke Portuguese. Wasn’t too bothered about explaining anything. Ladies who cleaned were really nice and kept it really tidy. No fridge but a freezer which didn’t make any sense. Air con came on at 8pm- 8am freezing in the morning and too hot in the morning. I’d probably stay somewhere else next time.
This place is completely disaster for me. As a normal visitor, I just want to have energy to visit Rio in day time rather than stay in hostel to listen people singing and talking till 4am. And it is small and packed, you are difficult to find a place to seat and store your beer in refrigerator. The bed coverd plastic, whenever you or other move . You will be waked by the noise again. I was regret to paid four night at once. But I am happy to leave on second day.

One of the best hostels we've ever been. We got a private room, it was a very clean, and so was the shared bathroom and the kitchen. Breakfast was average. Common area (courtyard) is very cozy
BEDBUGS! I have travelled to so many hostels and my first experience with the awful things! I was covered in bites for weeks, the hostel didn't take it seriously, and was over a week before they got an exterminator in. Because I left my bag under the bed, my clothes have wholes and have to be trashed. I was only compensated a little bit of money but doesn't even cover the stress and time I have to put into now trying to get rid of them. I was there for carnival and couldn't enjoy half of it because I was in so much pain from the bites. If I was careful enough to itch, I would be scared for life. I don't wish it upon anyone to ever experience this, I can't stress enough to avoid the hostel! Other guests had found some in another beds, and unsure if the problem was completely fixed there. AVOID!
