Centrally-located comfortable hotel”

Centrally-located, friendly and attentive staff, good service

Villa Florence is located on Powell St in Downtown San Francisco. It's central location means it's a great place to start sightseeing and tourist activities, although note that Powell St can be quite noisy. Check-in and Check-out were both rather quick and effortless (great after a long flight), the first room I was allocated overlooked Powell St and was noisy with tourist and street noise until late in the evening, then cable car maintenance and trash collection woke me up very early in the morning. Complained to the front desk who were very apologetic and moved me to a quieter room at the back of the hotel. Rooms were small but cosy. Must admit the customer service was quite good at this hotel, they are very accommodating so would recommend.

Funtastic”

Superb LOCATION, STAFF (Albert the bellman is the best!), rooms are small but that's ok

I will definitely stay again at Villa Florence next time I visit San Francisco. The Location of the hotel is near shops, restaurants. The staff particularly the bellman Albert is very accommodating to all my inquiries. The free internet is also a plus factor. The only downside is the room rates.

Beautiful deco, nice staff and greet location”

Very convenient to go to everywhere

It's my first time in San Francisco, so I chose to live in the town center. I was very satisfied with my choice of staying in Villa Florence. The hotel is just 3 mins walk from the BART station and the cable car station, surrounded with restaurants and shopping malls. A little bit noisy but totally acceptable.

Lots of Character, Central location”

Location, Lobby, Price

A beautiful hotel in the heart of San Francisco's downtown shopping district, Villa Florence manages a charming 1920's luxury feel without skimping on modern amenities. The entrance's high ceilings and open concept welcome visitors into a classy lobby flanked by a cafe and restaurant/bar. Our room was spacious, with two large beds and a 42+ inch TV screen. The bathroom was a little small, but the pieces added to the character of the place. Location can't be beat! Right along the cable car line, and within walking distance of bars, restaurants, shopping, and public transportation. WARNING: If bringing an automobile, be prepared to pay $50+ per night for overnight parking, and get ready to wait at least 20 minutes for valet to retrieve it for you upon your request. Kind of ruined the bargain deal offered by Agoda. If arriving without a car, though, Villa Florence is fantastic. An overall great experience!

Relaxing and fun”

Great location, clean and comfortable

Location in San Francisco is very important and this hotel in located right at the center of the city. It is close to shopping area, restaurant and sight seeing attraction. I suggest others not to choose the hotel in SOM as the area is shabby with lots of homeless people around. The hotel is very relaxing and comfortable.

A Union Square gem!”

Look no further, this city hotel is central to great dining, shopping and tourist attractions.

My party booked 3 rooms for 2 nights and we were ecstatic about the location on Powell Street which is half a block from Macy's & Union Square and 3 blocks from Market Street. This hotel has double beds only. I advise that that one book a double-double for more space for luggage and shopping bags. No need for room service which is very limited since Kuleto's and Bar Norcini are on the first floor. If you have a car, there's valet parking only for $60 a night and a wait for 20 minutes. I had to circle around the block three times until the valet was able to assist me. The Union Square 24-hour Garage is an alternative at $36 for daily maximum. Kuleto's is a must for a great selection of food and wine; the coffee and croissant at Bar Norcini are best and a spunky waiter to serve you.

Enjoyable, relaxing room, very convenient ”

Location, easily accessible to downtown, nice rooms

My stay was only for one night but would love to come back again on my next visit to San Francisco. Despite my very late check-in, around ten pm, I was still able to go around for a place to eat. As it is almost centrally located. Would certainly bring my family in my next visit.

Watch out for the hidden fees!”

We like the value and location of Villa Florence but got hit by hidden resort fees after we got back, despite confirming with the staff at location that we had nothing else to pay, after paying Agoda an all-inclusive price with fees and taxes. Took us a bit of wrangling to get our money back, but only because we noticed the extra charges in our credit card bill. They did not even send us an invoice to notify us of the charges. However, the staff was extremely friendly and it's really close by Union Square and the BART station.

Just need to know the extra daily charge”

The room rate you see before reserving this hotel is not the only charge per room per night. You just need to add the daily surcharges. For us it was about $29 per night. It's in the fine-print so don't get upset when you have been warned here. I have seen unaware guests getting upset at checkout time. Also, when the daily charge is being explained at check-in. I know this charge could add up if staying for multiple days. Other than that, this hotel is ideally located if you want to spend most of your time near the Union Square area and downtown Market Street area. It is a quite a hike to Pier 39 and Fisherman's Square but doable. If walking to Lombard Street windy hill, be prepared to walk up some hills. (It's also doable but wear comfortable walking shoes).

very nice location and experience”

location; service; price

Very good experience. I stayed there for 8 nights on a business purpose. The staff gave me a quiet room without facing to the bar street (Powell Street). Just the parking is always an issue when you stay downtown in any of big North America city - Valet, expensive, not that convenient. Well, it's downtown... I'll give a pass. Nice location, easy shopping and finding food to eat - that's why I didn't even try one meal in the Hotel. Places close the Union Sq was pretty high class and safe, try not to turn right and going to the direction at the back of the hotel - especially at night. Overall, very nice stay.

EXCELLENT staff. Perfect location within walking of BART and MOSCONE”

Was there for one of the many conferences I go to throughout the year @ Moscone. The reality of SFO is that it is an overpriced city that it deteriorating in quality with an increase in homeless population and smell of urine on the streets. Its really sad. The price of hotels is ridiculous SO, when I find a place that allows me to forget all that and get a Great night sleep and provides me with a relaxing stay where I simply don't think about how much the room cost, I'm VERY HAPPY. Villa Florence has done that, several times. I'll be back! Recommended.

Centrally located, Big Rooms, Free WiFi

Stayed in the hotel for 6 days and so happy with the provided free WiFi. Very convenient not only for holiday but also to reply those emails from overseas, they have open-area business center just in front of the elevators. The rooms is so big, very comfortable if you bring a lot of luggage. Nonetheless, the hotel is also centrally located, in the heart of Union Square, just steps away for shopping and dining and etc.

Excellent location. Nice room. Small bathroom. ”

Location, bedding, interiors

My mom and i stayed in a room with 2 double beds. It was a decent size perfect for all our luggages. There was ample closet space, a huge TV, big working desk and an arm chair with ottoman. Each bed had 3 different pillows: firm, soft, down. The room came with complimentary lavazza coffee pods. The only down side was the size of the bathroom. It was VERY TINY! Only one small-medium person can stand inside at a time. Although there was a tub, the floor space was almost as limited as airplane toilets! Location was excellent! Right in the heart of union square. Breakfast in kuletos was expensive and the service wasnt very good. The guy waiter always had a frown on his face. But there are many dining alternatives in the area.

Perfect location by Union Square.”

Location, restaurants, shopping.

The hotel is located right across from Union Square and at the start of the cable car route. There is a host of fine dining restaurants and shopping destinations in the surrounding areas. The interior of the hotel is old but kept clean. The staff was very attentive. In fact, I requested a receipt for room charges to expense for my company and was promptly taken care of by email within hours.
