Villa Kubu Sanur

The whole complex is very shabby . No security , no security lights , poor internet connection , no fox tv. No breakfast . Overgrown messy gardens , lawn never tidy . Lazy untrained staff . VERY overpriced compared to other beautiful villas / hotels in the same area .

I am not unreasonable, nor am I accustomed to the poshest accommodation so my review is an honest one without unnaturally high expectation. We arrived at the villa to be shown to a dirty and unkept villa. The pool had not been cleaned in what seemed like a very long time. We did not swim for fear of infection. There is a significant mosquito problem at the location and although I know this is not the fault of the management, steps should be taken to mitigate the problem (spraying, etc). The kitchen was VERY rundown with dishes and utensils that I was concerned could not be cleaned enough for use. The appliances were corroded with rust and filthy and to a large extent unusable. Past reviews stated that the management was unresponsive but we did not find this. The staff on hand, particularly Ibu Wayan were excellent but were very clearly limited in what they were able to do with the powers they were afforded. Ibu Rina was the property manager and did eventually respond to my requests for a meeting. When she arrived onsite, she listened to my complaints and did what she could to improve the situation. This included procuring a 4G mobile hotspot to replace the useless internet onsite. Unfortunately, the villa was not brought up to what I would consider anywhere near standard until the day before we were meant to leave. Although only a 20 minute walk to the beach, it is a walk down back alleys (dark at night with plenty of rats), across a very busy highway, and through town. We had friends who paid 1/8th of what we paid and we simply ended up relaxing at their hotel pool and restaurant throughout most of our stay. There are much better (and much cheaper, better located and cleaner) places to stay in Sanur.
