Excellently managed hotel in Ubud countryside”
Villa Mandi is composed by 4 superior rooms and by 4-5 deluxe, with garden or pool wiev, in a small village west to Ubud. We had a huge deluxe room with pool-wiev, with big windows, big bathroom with tube and shower, air-con and fan, big bed with mosquitos net. Cleaned every day. Garden is weel kept with a small pool, with view on the rice fields around. Quiet location. Mr. Gusti is the operational manager of the hotel and takes excellent care of all the aspects of your stay: I really appreciated him since he is very friendly and really helpful, for sure the nicest and most competent hotel staff member I've found in a month around Indonesia. He can suggest you how to move around, rent motorbikes for cheap prices (4 euros a day), arrange tours, massages, activities and pick-up service from and to the centre of Ubud (10 minutes by car, 30k rp) and also coordinates the whole staff (the only problem I found during my stay -which I may suggest to improve- was that some of the staff and drivers did not speak english so well and sometimes this have created misunderstandings, so that always the operational manager has to intervene to take care himself of the situation, and in the evening you take much effort to call for pick-ups, while the manager is not at work). Beyond that, the staff is in any case very nice. After our 3 nights stay, we added one night and have been moved in a dependance 5 minutes away from Villa Mandi. Such place is a private villa with two rooms, which could be a good option for families. They are building wi-fi connection and a small swimming pool also there, in any case my suggestion is to ask first for a deluxe in main Villa Mandi, since the other villa is noisy at nights, being surrounded by houses inhabited by roosters and dogs. In conclusion, it was my favourite stay in a month around indonesia. Good value for money!
Best place in Ubud! ”
We absolutely loved Villa Mandi. We loved it so much that we stayed with them an entire month! The staff go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Everyone knew us by name and greeted us with huge smiles everyday. The rooms were very big and clean. The Villa Mandi grounds are stunning, surrounded by nature. The location is a few KM from the main area in Ubud. We rented a motorbike from Villa Mandi for $5/day and had no problems coming and going as we needed. We took a look at the many hotels around Ubud out of curiosity and can truly say that for the price point you will not get anything even close to being comparable to Villa Mandi. Planning our next trip to Bali next year and we have already told the staff at Villa Mandi that we will be back! Andra & Richard
A great value and incredible staff”
We stayed at villa Mandi for almost 2 weeks and had a wonderful time, this place is very charming, the staff was amazing , always very helpful and sweet. When the bed wasn't to our liking in the first room we had, they moved us to a better room without a fuss. They have byclicles and scooters for rent also and a free drop off and pick up to Ubud with the hotel's car They have a little restaurant there as well with good food at more than reasonable price. It is only minutes away from noisy and crowded Ubud surrounded by rice fields.. .penestanan is only a couple of minutes away my scooter or car (as well as nyuh kunning) where you can find lots of good restaurant and great small warung (try warung Rama in nyuh kunning for my favorite Nasir campur in Bali and fresh Jamu) in penestanan (make a right when leaving Villa Mandi then a left at the next intersection) right behind the place where the village men hang out and across from a juice place are some of the best BBQ ribs we've ever had. And so cheap too. Don't miss it! In short...we've been going to Bali for many many years and this is one of the best value for your money you'll find...we ll definitly stay there again...
Oasis in an Oasis”
Though Ubud is flush with idyllic villa-type accommodations, it's hard to beat Villa Mandi's friendly staff, impeccably kept property and more-than-accommodating management (who found me another villa when my reservation ended). Located five minutes by taxi from the city center, Villa Mandi is perfectly removed from the New Age bustle of Ubud proper. With rice fields on three sides and a relatively quiet road at the front of the property, the serenity of evenings at Villa Mandi is a welcome respite for any traveler weary of the constant thrum of Southeast Asia. A small attached restaurant sells local beer and better-than-average food, while motorbikes can be rented for (highly recommended) forays into town or out into the surrounding countryside, which is both vibrant and enchanting. For those who have plans elsewhere in Bali, don't be surprised if a few days at Villa Mandi makes you rethink your itinerary.
Don't look any further Villa Mandi has everything ”
Villa Mandi is a brand new villa style hotel which is everything we were looking for for our stay in Ubud. Each room has a private garden, and breakfast is served on your balcony at a time convenient to you. The gardens are relaxing and display a range of beautiful tropical flowers and plants. The rooms are spacious and modern, and incredibly private. The hotel manager, Wayan, is SO helpful. He helped us organise and book a day trip tour of Ubud, our transport to and from the Gili Islands, and a cycling tour of Ubud - all of which were excellent and provided at reasonable prices. He went out of his way to ensure we had a great time at his hotel. I cannot say anything bad about this hotel. It is located amidst the beautiful rice fields, along the walking tour of Ubud in the Bali and Lombok Lonely Planet book, and right next to a delicious Indian Restaurant.
Don't believe the other reviews”
I was sceptical of staying here after reading the other reviews on Villa Mandi (which I didn't actually see until after I'd booked and Paid) but when we arrived I realised you can't believe everything you read. We had an AMAZING stay here. On the first night we were moved to Villa Mandi Three but as we had five nights this didn't bother us and VM3 was nice and private anyway. On the second day we came back to Villa Mandi 1 and were upgraded to the private villa with pool which is a slice of paradise. The pool was lovely, the room huge, Bed comfy and staff were very attentive bringing our breakfast to the room every morning and keeping the room well maintained. I would definitely stay here again and probably will as I frequent Ubud often. THANKS GUYS! LOVED IT!
Beautiful quiet villa in a relaxing setting ”
Villa Mandi itself is situated in a beautiful and peaceful area and it is approximately a 30-minute walk into the main center of Ubud. To get to Ubud you must walk up and down the hills, pass the lush green rice fields and all types of accommodations, shops and cafes. There is also a free shuttle into Ubud town twice a day. The staff at Villa Mandi are very friendly and conscientious in making each guest's stay a comfortable and enjoyable one. The four poster bed, the open bath tub and shower, the side kitchenette and fridge, and the front porch with two chairs and a table, coupled with the quietness and surrounding beauty of the rice fields, make this Villa appear a most endearing place to stay. I highly recommend it.
Great place to stay”
The room was nice and comfortable, always cleaned and ammenities refreshed daily with a smile. The breakfasts arrived at the arranged time each morning and were ample (eggs & toast, juice & tea or coffee). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The free shuttle to Ubud centre was good, but if you wish to return using it, you must clearly arrange it with the driver. The Warung Mandi was very good for meals, the cooks have a very good understanding of western food, so the pastas etc are excellent. The pool is pleasant, not huge, but not too small either. The rice paddies surrounding the villas are beautiful, that area of Katiklantang is very scenic. It's just a little further along the road from Penestanan village, which is known for its high quality art galleries, and there are some very nice new healthy restaurants at the same place also. Overall I thought Villa Mandi was an extremely good choice for my holiday, I was there for just over a week, and I would definitely be happy to stay there again.
Great service and clean bungalows”
we came to this hotel for staying 2 days. but we were so impressed by conditions, staff and our bungalow and decided to extend our accommodation in villa mandi for one more night. that villa is not private. it has several bungalow surrounded by rice field and lush greenery. every bungalow has its own garden. despite we weren't the only guests in the villa, it was very quiet and tranquille. at villa's area there is a swimming pool and 2-3 sun-beds. mostly i liked staff bringing my breakfast directly to our bungalow every morning. people working there are very friendly and helpful. the only one problem was about restaurant. The closest other place to have dinner is in about 10 min of driving. you should know that the villa is located not in the center of ubud. so you need to take a taxi all the time when you want go out. but that's not big deal - you can hire a driver right in the villa just for around $3.
The time flew by - would definitely return”
Villa Mandi is situated a 10 minute drive from Ubud and all the city has to offer in areas of culture, shopping, and dining. A free taxi service into Ubud is available 3 times a by the hotel and taxis are readily available for the return trip. From here it is easy to access the whole of Bali as all roads seem to meet in Ubud for travel around this beautiful island, and the hotel staff are willing to give advice or arrange any travel requests you have. The hotel is in a quiet setting away from the noise and pace of Ubud with pleasant gardens and views of the volcano and mountains from the swimming pool. Surrounded by paddy fields and coconut palms the views can be quite breathtaking. There is a small village two minutes walk to the left of Villa Mandi with shops, temples and a Chinese restaurant serving a short but tasty menu at very reasonable prices. The village is local and shows a slice of life for the Balinese who maintain and deserve their reputation for being friendly. We watched the villagers ploughing and planting the rice fields, all by hand, fascinating to see but my back ached from just watching. We initially booked for 3 weeks with the intention of hitting the beach for our last week in Bali but instead extended here figuring that we could see beaches anywhere whereas this was something special.
Very nice hotel, helpful staff.”
I booked 2 Superior room but when we arrived, they run out of 1 superior room so they upgraded 1 room for us to Deluxe Superior without any charge. On the last night, they upgraded us for free from Joglo Villa to Superior room. The staff are very friendly and nice, giving us chance to try baby mango at their garden. Food at the restaurant was good and reasonable price. One minus is many mosquito if you have dinner at the restaurant, but I think that it's normal in any places in Bali as it was dark and fields around. We were very satisfied staying in Villa Mandi and highly recommend this hotel to you all. Thank you!
Stunning location, relax in serenity”
I stayed at Villa Mandi for 8 nights & will definitely return. It's location on the outskirts of Penestanen village surrounded by rice paddies is a beautiful location, with little passing traffic & no pollution. Serenity at its best, the perfect place to relax & unwind. The staff were very friendly & helpful, greeting me every day with that lovely Balinese hospitality. The restaurant has plenty of choices on the menu, reasonably priced, and the quality of the dishes was excellent. I really had no need to go into the hustle & bustle of Ubud, although it is easy to do so with the free hotel shuttle bus.
We booked one of the Joglo Villas. Its a traditional wooden balinese villa with modern accouterments. There's strong hot and cold water. Air-conditioning is chilly, linens are fresh and smells like it. The bed is well padded and comparable to 5 star hotels. Bathroom is huge and squeaky clean and everything works. Although the food at Villa Mandi Warung (eatery) is simple - they don't make any pretense out of it, there's no better place to have an early morning breakfast anywhere in the world than Mandi Warung, overlooking a rich green carpet of rice fields. Their mie goreng is addicting and costs only 2 dollars. Overall I love villa Mandi and will return on the future.
The staff at Villa Mandi made it feel like home”
Villa Mandi is beautiful and definitely a bargain. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, the restaurant was delicious, and the location is great because it is a bit out of the main area of Ubud. I do not recommend the bamboo villas for anyone who is high maintenance and will be spending a lot of time in the room. The main villas would be more appropriate for that, they are lovely! I would definitely return to stay at Villa Mandi, it is a gem.
Nice villa just outside ubud, friendly staff”
Villa Mandi is a nice accomodation, around 10 min drive from the ubud city centre (3 daily shuttles to centre are provided, additional shuttle for 30,000 IRD /one way). We had a large villa with private garden. The villa was spacious and clean, with a large bathtub and a separate shower. Villa Mandi also has a swimming pool, which is nice after a day of activities in the lovely ubud area. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Breakfast is served in your villa and is okay (pancakes and juice). Villa Mandi has no restaurant, the nearest restaurants are a 10 min walk or 5min drive away (you can also rent a motorbike for 50,000 IDR a day). This place is ideal for people who want a value for money maximising villa outside the busy ubud area. We would recommend it.
The management at Villa Mandi were most welcoming , always eager to help and please their customers. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. I started with a one bedroom villa and ended up staying at one of their exclusive villas with a private pool. It was an exhilarating experience. I also enjoyed the peacefullness of the place away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta. They also offer a free shuttle service to town centre Ubud which was great. Close by are numerous temples, the rice paddy fields ,traditional markets and the Sacred Monkey Forest of which I couldn't get enough of. Generally agreat experience and yes I will come again and stay at one of the Villas.
This is a charming, peaceful hotel set some way outside Ubud which is a pleasant half hour walk away. The hotel has a car shuttle service for those who prefer to ride down to town. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, in fact they are almost anxious to ensure you enjoy your stay. I was there for five days and in that time they organised two, individually tailored day trips for me, taking me to some lovely places in other parts of the island. You would be assured of a delightful time in the Ubud area by staying at Villa Mandi.
Peaceful and calm”
villa mandi is set in the rice fields about 10 minutes drive from central ubud, friendly shuttle service is available to get you in and out of ubud as required. beautiful gardens surrounded by rice fields. two of the five villas have private walled gardens. well kept and nicely appointed. staff are really friendly and extremely helpful, they are defiantly there to make sure you are happy and comfortable. only down side is there is no restaurant/cafe, though this may come as the property expands (hopefully not too much).
Perfect hideaway ”
I really enjoyed my stay at Villa Mandi. The place is perfect for relaxation. It's not that far from Ubud Center. We rented motorbike from them for 50,000IDR/day so we were able to really explore Ubud and nearby towns. Staffs are very very accommodating, especially Wayan who patiently answered all our inquiries. I will definitely be back and will definitely recommend this hotel to my friend who will visit Ubud.
Excellent retreat for people looking to relax.”
Awesome place to stay if you're looking for a quiet retreat. It's out of central Ubud, so you're gonna have to take their shuttle (twice a day) or hire a cab, but the plus side is that the nights are quiet and serene. You won't hear any vehicles passing by or people walking about at night as you would in a hotel closer to the town. The staff were the highlight of the trip, the manager was extremely friendly and went out of his way to attend to anything we needed. They have some great people working there who are always open for conversations and friendly smiles. My only complaint is the lack of hot water. More often than not I had to take cold showers as the water pressure for the hot water was so low that it would have taken years to get clean. Overall though, it was a great experience. If I ever return to Ubud, I would definitely stay at Villa Mandi again.
