It was bad!”
I do not recommend. There was ants and all the other insects in our room. The the room smelled really bad, and it was not clean. Doors can't close properly and bug red ants are coming in all the time. The bathroom was not maintained and there was mould on the walls. We were very disappointed. The owner attitude was bad, like he doesn't care about this hotel at all. They even don't rent scotters and there is no nice beach near by. Avoid it.

Hello Miss, So sorry to read about your disappointing experience. We were able to exterminate all the insects in your room after we were informed of the problem. Also, the door is working properly now and the bathroom has been cleaned thoroughly. Thanks for letting us know about that. We don't have any scooters to rent on the property. Since pandemic, there are very few motor rental places we can contact. The beach nearby is decent. You can swim or sunbathe and there are plenty of places to eat and see beautiful sunset. However, sand is a bit steep and the waves can be rough at times. We hope you will consider us if you ever come by Senggigi again. Thank you for your stay!
Best accommodation during our entire trip! ”
Pros: -absolutely beautiful villa! We stayed in the deluxe room with a pool view, no regrets! -we didn't rent scooters, but it was about 5 minutes taxi ride from central Senggigi -we had a late arrival and I messaged the villa quite late to ask for a private car. They responded very quickly and organized our transportation right away! Thank you! -Limited breakfast menu, but their food is delicious! Didn't get a chance to get the name of the lady who delivered our breakfast every morning, but if you're reading this we want you to know you're wonderful! Contrary to some reviews I've read about breakfast being late, this lady was actually 30 mins - 1 hour early every morning and basically became our alarm clock even with her gentle knocking :) -complementary snacks for dinner! My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised when the lady mentioned above came to our balcony to give us delicious snacks with a very heart warming note :) The second snack we received was their DELICIOUS pisang goreng! -we stayed in this hotel for our 6 year anniversary trip. We were surprised with beautiful petals upon opening our room and an even more beautiful floral set-up on our bed! None of the other accommodations we stayed in noticed so we felt this was an amazing touch from Villa Mataano. Also, thanks for greeting us upon our arrival John! -complimentary bottles of water every day -the driver/tour guide they set us up with was amazing! We requested a private driver relatively late one day, but this driver went above and beyond our expectations! Rather than a quiet drive to south Lombok, Rudi told us stories about his life while providing insight about Indonesia, brought us to Sasak Village where they make traditional outfits, and even grabbed some bananas for us to peel and eat :) Thank you Rudi, we miss you already! Cons: -bathroom smelled a bit damp, but this wasn't a deal breaker :) -only one level for the pool. I'm 5'3" and cannot really swim so I didn't get a chance to go in t

Like having your own Villa”
I stayed at Villa Mataano for 2 weeks days in January 2013 and enjoyed the relaxing environment. The Villa consists of 3 rooms up the hill behind the owners house. The two suite rooms are very well furnished with A/C, Flat Screen TV, big comfortable bed, work table, separate sink area with counter space separate from the shower room, refridgerator with drinks and snacks, and a wonderful horizon pool with sun terrace and covered area to relax in. There is wifi in the pool area but alas, not in the rooms yet. The owner is VERY helpful and will arrange day trips and advice about the area. Although, the Villa does not provide breakfast, it is an easy and safe 5 minute walk to the main road, where when you cross it there is a very good restaurant with wifi and access to the beach, a swimming pool, and lounge chairs. I had breakfast there (Cafe Alberto) every morning and also I had several dinners there. It is a relatively short walk into town over the hill but I rented a motorbike for $5 a day to expedite getting around. I highly recommend Villa Mataano for travelers who want a quiet environment (no roosters but there is low level sound from a local Mosque several times a day, as in almost all Muslim countries). The third room has 3 beds and the entire 3 room hotel would be great for a family.

Just fantastic”
My stay at Villa Mataano was surprisingly fantastic. The villa has 3 large rooms and a loft for large groups or backpackers - overall it's quiet and peaceful. It is close to the main road and walking home at night felt safe although do take a torch! The owners, John and Menaley are very friendly & helpful and the staff really sweet. I originally booked 3 nights but stayed a further 2 nights as moving somewhere else in Lombok just did not appeal. John arranged a driver so I could see the sights -ask for Rudy! he is the best! Informative and passionate about Lombok and the sights to see, he went well above and beyond. The villa is expanding next door and I hope to come back in a couple of years to see the result (there is some construction noise which did not bother me - the villa provided complimentary drinks and morning/afternoon tea during the day by way of apology). I will recommend Villa Mataano to family and friends.

Great place to stay”
We just spent a week at villa Mataano and we had a great time. John and his family are very friendly people who will do their best to make you feel at home. The rooms are quite large and clean. Because of the nice swimming pool, villa Mataano is a great place to relax a couple of days. Villa Mataano is located in a quiet area yet still pretty close to the beach and Sengigi. There is a great Italian place in the neighborhood (Ask John for directions). Downsides: cold shower and wifi not always working. However, these downsides are both pretty common around indonesia. Overall I can defenitely recommend Villa Mataano.

Amazing Services”
This is the first time I write a review in Agoda. My friend and I had a great experience during our stay in this villa. The breakfast was amazing; there were 9 options to choose from (5 western style, and 4 local style) every day. There was also complementary snack every afternoon/night when we came back. It is pity that I cannot attach the photos in the review as the food was really nice, and we certainly enjoyed the fruit juice that came with the snack. The staff is very kind and helpful; they tried to help even when they couldn’t fully understand our request since they are not very good at English. They even helped us order delivery and they delivered it to our room! When we came back from our Rinjani trekking trip and they saw that we had a few injuries on our legs, they immediately took out some first-aid items for us to cleanse our wounds. John, the owner of the villa, is also very helpful and hospitable. He helped us gather information on the available tour packages and arranged a day tour to visit Tiu Kelep waterfall and also a shuttle service to the Gili Islands. Also, as our departure flight is very early (6am in the morning), he let us store our luggage at a store room the night before, book our taxi to the airport, and even woke up in the morning to pass us our luggage and open the gate for us! The hotel is about 20 mins walk to the beach. The weather was very sunny during our stay, so it was a bit hot when we walked around in the afternoon. The local food is nice and cheap. There is a warung near the villa that sells cheap local food. The taste is not bad in our opinion, so just give it a try if you want to try some Indonesian food. The transportation is also affordable; it won't cost much for you to grab a taxi. Overall, we feel that Lombok is a really nice place for vacation, provided that you are fine with hot weather. Clean, Beautiful, Great Staff, Great Owner”
Villa Mataano are awesome. Nice staff, owner, nice kuih and tea and nice breakfast. They even lend me DVD player. The only problem I faced was the stairs infront of pool was very slippery. The handler is only at one side. The tiles are slippery. Anyone can fell off the stairs. I was told by the Australian travellers that he was one of the person who ever slipped at stairs (injured at knee), he saw some other people slipped too. and also the staff told me that there was another person fell off at the same place too.I would like to suggest management of VillA Mataano to add in one more handler at the stairs and change the tiles. I had bruises on my back and I still have it until now. The rest are all fantastic at this Villa.

A Gem in a hidden part of Senggigi”
We spent 2 nights at Villa Mataano and wished we could stay more. The hotel is situated a bit inland (5 minutes away from the beach). We were welcomed by the owner, John, who is amazingly friendly and helpful. The room was at the top with a big terrace and a view on the pool. The pool was clean and beautiful. Because they are expanding, there are some works happening next door but we didn't hear much and were given fruit, fruit juice and snack as an apology. The room is big, has a kitchenette and a big bathroom (water pressure of the shower in this room is very low though, probably cause you are at the the top). The bed is big and comfortable. We really felt at home and didn't want to leave.

We had great staying experience at Villa Mataano. We were welcome by the owner- John when we arrive late as just return from Rinjani Trek. They treat us with welcoming juice and some snack, which is very refreshing for us. John also hep us to book cab and recommend very good dinner for us. late as we back from dinner, they even serve us with their homemade cake and ice cream as dessert for us. We enjoy the night at the pool side. They also prepare very nice breakfast 6am in the morning for us as we need to depart to airport early in the morning. We were glad to choose Villa Mataano, and certainly with come back here again for our next trip. The only problem is it need a cab to travel around, but it just a small issue.

Fantastic!”
Villa Mataano has spoiled me for all other accommodation at this price range. During 5 weeks in Bali we never experience such a clean, well-run B&B as this. And there is a lovely pool as well. Breakfasts were good (loved the muesli) and were served to our patio. Yes, you have to walk over the hill road to the beach, but it is not far. Location is very quiet with restaurants within walking distance. Upon our return each late day we were served a beverage and snack. Such a great touch. By FAR the best place we have ever found!

Friendly, quiet, relaxing, great pool”
John, the owner of Villa Mataano, and his family build a bit of the busy part of Sengiggi this nice family runned Hotel. First time it is maybe a bit hard to find, so here a small description for you: At the Cafe Alberto use the interaction to enter this neighbourhood. Follow the main street till it ends at a small local warung. Go left, till the street ends again, and than again left. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd house on the right is Villa Mataano. The neighbourhood is really quiet, some dogs running around, but don´t be scared by them. They are laying around and relaxing all the time ;). There is a small hair saloon around and also a small hidden bakery (temptations). If you want to go to the beach or the busy bar/restaurants area you have to walk maybe 5 Minutes (Beach) till 15 Minutes (center of bars and restaurants). You can also use blue bird or express taxi, which were plenty around. It is less than a Euro to from the bar/restaurant area back to your hotel. One tip: In the night on the road between Cafe Alberto and the main bars/restaurants opens a Martabak Street food place. The guy is still new but makes really good Martabak. The prices are written on the menu, so you wont get cheated. Highly recommended to go there and eat a (really good and tasty) Martabak. The staff is really friendly. When we asked to rent a knife, they also gave us too plates and a fork. We also asked their help to send a small package to their adress for us. Everything worked out perfectly. The garden of the hotel is really nice. They have an awesome pool and lot of chairs and couches to relax and hang out. The garden View room has a really nice design, very comfortable and the bed you sleep like in heaven. ;)

Lovely Villas”
Our stay in Villa Mataano was wonderful. The hotel is divided in teo areas: the new and the old. Both of them have great pools. We stayed in the new area. Our room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was really good, we loved the pancakes! The staff was really kind, specially the owner, John. It takes just 5 minutes to the city center by motorbike. Totally recommended!!

Relaxing & Clean, Friendly Owner”
I booked 2 rooms with Mountain View for my parents not knowing that it's at 5th floor. The owner, John was very helpful in informing me about it and attend to my request and change of rooms so they won't need to climb up down the stairs. The villa itself was very relaxing & clean. Rooms were spacious which is not what I've expected with the price. They even served us welcome snacks & drinks, pamper us with afternoon snacks throughout the day. Overall, it was a pleasant stay & we all enjoyed it. Will come back again if we visit lombok.

Private Haven ”
I originally booked in for two nights as I intended to move around Lombok and stay in different places. However, I loved everything about the Villa, especially the wonderful caring owners and staff, so changed my plan and stayed on for a further two nights , and did day trips from Sengiggi, which was perfect for a smallish island. I then went to Sumbawa Island for a few days and my hosts went to much effort to get my tickets for me and to give me a comprehensive list of things to do and phone numbers of people who could help me. I have returned to the Villa for another 3 nights before flying home , as it is a great place to relax after 3 months travelling .

Quiet and with excellent service ”
Stayed in Mataano for 3 nights in a room with pool view. Was worth the upgrade. The new rooms are excellent. Pool clean and well situated. Noise from the mosque was minimal and easy to get to the main road. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy the beautiful East coast of Lombok.

This villa was great. It was beautiful, clean, and had many entertainments which makes the stay is memorable. You can practically swim in nice small pool, play billiard, sing and listen to music (they had those stereo in its lounge), even you can grill your own bbq.. we booked whole villa and it was worth it.. i would definitely recommend this villa and would stay again if i returned to lombok.. great for groups and families..
